Shapiro to Focus on Making Mobile Parking Reservations Even Easier For Drivers
Chicago (April 21, 2016)– Today on-demand parking marketplace SpotHero announced that Ellen Shapiro has joined the company to lead mobile development. In this role, she will focus on building out a dedicated mobile team, including hiring iOS and Android developers, to create the next evolution of SpotHero’s mobile app. This move is part of SpotHero’s efforts to expand its industry-leading parking reservation service.
“In 2016, mobile has grown to almost 80 percent of our total parking reservations and we’re regularly ranking among the top 10 iTunes navigation apps,” said Mark Lawrence, co-founder and CEO, SpotHero. “For this reason, we’re excited to have recruited one of Chicago’s most talented mobile developers, Ellen Shapiro, to lead our mobile team.”
Shapiro joins SpotHero from Vokal, where she most recently served as Director of iOS Engineering. Prior to her role at Vokal, she developed iOS and Android apps at The Nerdery. Shapiro is also a leading public speaker in the mobile development space. She is presenting a keynote at the Mobile Dev + Test and IoT Dev + Test collocated events in San Diego today with a presentation focused on new software development tools and technologies. Shapiro is also speaking at iOS Con in London, UIKonf in Berlin, try! Swift NYC, and iOS Dev UK.
