McKeesport PA to Launch MeterFeeder™ App for Parking

McKeesport, PA On Tuesday January 17th, McKeesport will be accepting payments through the MeterFeeder app along with MeterFeeder’s parking enforcement tools. The onstreet meters in the downtown area will be enforced daily for both shortterm and longterm parking. Drivers parking in designated areas will have the added advantage to pay for parking with the MeterFeeder app which syncs payments with enforcement in realtime.

McKeesport has close to 300 onstreet meters in their downtown area and the mobile payment app will be available as an added convenience to all business customers, residents, and visitors who frequently must pay for parking in the area. The Mayor and City Administrator of McKeesport is excited and hopeful that patrons will be happy to have more options for parking and use the app often.

“The most appealing part of MeterFeeder’s service is that customers don’t need to return to their vehicle to add money to the meter,” states Mayor Michael Cherepko “If you are waiting longer than expected for an appointment or if you spend extra time shopping, all you have to do is tap your smartphone or tablet and your meter is paid.” City Administrator Matt Gergely said this convenience should boost McKeesport’s parking revenue. “By giving our downtown visitors a chance to pay their parking tab electronically, we are giving them more opportunities to do the right thing,” Gergely said. “Many people use debit and credit cards for all of their daily transactions. They don’t keep cash and change in their pockets.”

The free MeterFeeder app offers locationbased parking, which can be paid for from mobile devices. Customers will enter license plate numbers and credit card information and the app is ready to be used. The app sends push notifications to customers to extend parking time for their expiring meter and sends notifications via email for payments. Customers can also opt to pay any parking citations issued by the McKeesport Police Department by scanning the unique QR code printed on the ticket through the MeterFeeder app on their smartphones. Tickets can also be paid online at www.meterfeeder.com/tickets.
