ZipPark Announces Carl Sgamboti as CEO

WEST HARTFORD, CT – – May 11, 2017 – ZipPark, Inc., the industry leader in event and valet parking technology, today announced that it has appointed Carl Sgamboti, co-founder, as Chief Executive Officer effective January 1, 2017. Barry Lazowski, co-founder, will continue on as President.

“Carl is going to take ZipPark to the next level,” said Lazowski. “His unwavering dedication to the company, deep experience in designing world-class systems, and commitment to unparalleled customer service makes this a perfect fit for ZipPark.”

Prior to co-founding ZipPark in 2001, Mr. Sgamboti served as Vice President of a software development firm where he led teams in creating systems for accounting, medical research, manufacturing, and parking. While developing manufacturing execution systems in the 1980’s, it became clear to Mr. Sgamboti that PC’s were no match for the dusty, hot, and humid shop floor environment. This is where he first leveraged a fledgling technology, industrial-strength mobile computing, to automate business processes. His experience would serve ZipPark well in the early days of the new company and throughout its evolution. Later he was trained in interaction design at Cooper, the company founded by Mr. Alan Cooper, known as the “Father of Visual Basic”. Mr. Sgamboti then went on to serve as Director of Interaction Design for startups in oncology research. “Effective software design is an important success factor in my and ZipPark’s success,” said Sgamboti. Within the parking industry, Mr. Sgamboti has been an invited speaker at industry conferences, participated in panel discussions, and published articles for major parking magazines.

“I am thrilled to be given this opportunity to grow ZipPark to its fullest potential,” said Sgamboti. “Over the past several years, we focused on retooling and modernizing our platforms and cutting costs to yield the greatest value for our customers.” He continued, “There is still a large market that has yet to discover what many world-class properties and professional sports teams already know…that ZipPark can make a big difference in their operations, tightening revenue control and expanding customer conveniences with technologies like EMV and NFC payments, texting services, integration with PARCs, and real-time pass validation.”
