Centerville Business Park – Ascent Construction’s Innovative Parking Structure

Ascent Construction used a roofing solution from Varco Pruden Buildings as part of an innovative and sustainable two-level, 205 stall parking garage for Centerville Business Park.

Completed in Centerville, Utah, the parking structure includes a Varco Pruden roof and skylight system to provide weather protection, allow for natural light and prolong the life of the garage.
The garage, which incorporates Varco Pruden’s PrisMAX™ SL (Prismatic Skylight), includes Varco Pruden’s single slope Cool Cotton White SSR™ standing seam roof system with KXL™ finish, and is supported by Varco Pruden’s Continuous Beam framing system, was constructed by Ascent Construction Inc., based in Centerville and designed by GSBS Architects, based in Salt Lake City.

The 4,800 square foot structure was designed to meet LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) standards. Sustainable elements of the project included Varco Pruden’s CB framing systems made from recycled steel and Varco Pruden’s SSR™ standing seam roof with KXL™ cool paint to reduce heat island effect. To provide daylighting, Varco Pruden’s PrisMAX™ SL was installed. PrisMAX™ SL is one of the few products on the market that can significantly reduce energy consumption resulting in lower utility bills and a cleaner environment while providing quality natural lighting.

The parking structure includes cast-in-place concrete with post tension slabs providing 140 parking stalls for shared-use parking between two office buildings and the community theater. The roof’s rake and eave gutter uses Varco Pruden’s Cool Granite Gray color with KXL™ finish.

“New innovations in sustainable building and design are changing the way contractors approach the construction of parking structures. Varco Pruden is able to offer applications that are eco-friendly, attractive and fully functional,” said Craig Edwards, Varco Pruden’s Director of Marketing.
