Parking Structure Honored with Award of Excellence

October 13, 2014

Projects recognized for outstanding design in precast/prestressed concrete construction at the 52nd Annual PCI Design Awards

CHICAGO, Ill. – October 13, 2014 – A parking structure was named a winner in the 2014 Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) Design Awards competition. Twenty-four awards were presented to projects from throughout North America at the 52nd annual PCI Design Awards, which includes best-in-class awards for both transportation structures and buildings, as well as special awards for industry advancement, sustainable design, and all-precast concrete.

The PCI Design Awards recognize design excellence and construction quality using precast concrete. The program demonstrates how designers are continuing to use precast/prestressed concrete components to achieve sustainable, more cost-effective, aesthetically pleasing, and quickly constructed projects. The 2014 awards program also took the structures’ high performance attributes into consideration.

“It was a tough competition,” said Don Powell Jr., principal-in-charge at BOKA Powell architecture firm and one of the building awards judges. “We saw many innovative applications of this technology that resulted in low-cost, high-quality finishes, and exceptional quality control.”

The award-winning parking structure is listed below. Additional details and photos for this project, as well as the full list of winners and honorable mentions, are available at www.pci.org/2014designawards.
