EVgo Receives First Shipment of Build America, Buy America 350kW High-Power Fast Chargers from Delta Electronics

EVgo and Delta’s shared commitment to onshoring the supply chain for high-power DC fast charging resulted in expedited delivery of National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure-eligible equipment

LOS ANGELES—-EVgo Inc. (NASDAQ: EVGO) (“EVgo” or the “Company”), one of the nation’s largest public fast charging networks for electric vehicles (EVs), today announced that it received the first-ever shipment of 350kW fast chargers from Delta Electronics that are manufactured according to Build America, Buy America Act (BABA) standards. Delivered from Delta Electronics’ recently opened factory in Plano, Texas, this first shipment marks a milestone in developing the robust domestic supply chain needed to support the rapid growth in EV adoption across the U.S. and unlock funding through the National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Formula Program. Delta has delivered 10 chargers to date, and EVgo expects to receive additional 350kW BABA-compliant chargers from Delta Electronics later this year.

Through close collaboration, EVgo and Delta accelerated the manufacturing timeline for the domestically produced 350kW fast charger, resulting in the first delivery months ahead of the originally scheduled date. The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, signed into law by President Biden in 2021, created $7.5 billion in funding for EV charging stations. This 350kW equipment is manufactured to meet BABA standards issued by the Federal Highway Administration, which is required for any charging stations that receive federal funding. To date, EVgo and its eXtend partners have been selected for millions in preliminary awards from NEVI programs in Ohio, Colorado, and Pennsylvania.

“As states award their initial round of NEVI funding, the arrival of EVgo’s first batch of BABA fast chargers—with incredible speed for onshoring—signals both a tremendous moment for domestic charger manufacturing and for additional public funding opportunities as more states announce their awards,” said Dennis Kish, COO of EVgo. “EVgo and Delta share a commitment to developing a resilient supply chain here in America, and this collaboration showcases the companies’ capability to deliver the high-quality, high-power fast chargers we need to meet the growing demand for fast charging across the country.”

“We are very pleased with our close cooperation with EVgo and are proud that we have achieved our commitment faster than expected,” said Kelvin Huang, President of Delta Electronics Americas Region. “Our Plano facility’s successful deployment of the BABA-compliant 350kW EV charger serves as a testament to our proficiency in meeting customers’ requirements through local assembly. Our collective efforts will not only accelerate the expansion of fast charging across the nation but also contribute significantly to the realization of a sustainable society, a core objective Delta ardently strives for.”

In addition to its work to onshore its supply chain, EVgo is also actively working with its suppliers to help ensure future chargers will integrate the North American Charging Standard (NACS), which is currently making its way through standards bodies.

Beam Global EV ARC™ Systems Continue to Operate Throughout Hurricane Idalia

EV ARC™ Systems in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas continued to charge vital vehicles during grid outages

SAN DIEGO, Sept. 07, 2023 (– Beam Global, (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), (the “Company”), the leading provider of innovative sustainable products and technologies for electric vehicle (EV) charging, energy storage and energy security, today announced that none of its EV ARC™ products were disabled by Hurricane Idalia.

EV ARC™ systems in Florida, Georgia and the Carolinas which were in the direct path of the hurricane continued to provide vital EV charging and emergency power throughout the storm. Several locations where EV ARC™ systems are deployed experienced prolonged grid outages as a result of the hurricane, but Beam Global’s customers were able to continue to charge their EVs and access the emergency power panels integrated into the EV ARC™ product. The storm made landfall on Florida’s Gulf Coast cutting off power to more than 470,000 customers in Florida and Georgia.

Beam Global customers in the impacted region include the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, and the Department of Homeland Security. Organizations with vital fleet vehicles and the responsibility to provide services to the broader community can particularly benefit from Beam Global’s rapidly deployed off-grid EV charging infrastructure products which continue to operate during grid outages or in locations where it is too expensive, disruptive or impossible to extend the utility grid.

EV ARC™ systems are independently rated to withstand winds of 160 mph and are able to continue to operate in 9.5 feet of flooding. They support any quality brand EV charger and can be equipped with an optional Emergency Power Panel which provides 120v and 240v outlets for use by first responders or other authorized users when utility power is not available.

“We know how important it is to keep our customers’ vehicles moving,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global. “That’s why we have developed products that continue to operate even during the harshest conditions. Extreme weather and events like wildfires are becoming more common and more destructive. It’s vital that the U.S.’s fueling infrastructure has redundancy and resiliency. Our products are providing both to our customers, many of whom are the very people we all rely on during disasters. We believe that at least 25% of EV charging infrastructure should include locally generated and locally stored electricity which is immune to centralized grid failures. Hurricane Idalia is just the latest incident to prove that belief to be correct. I’m grateful to those who serve during tough times and I’m proud that our products are there to support their vital missions.

Large, sustained grid outages have occurred with increasing frequency in the U.S. over the past two decades, according to a Wall Street Journal review of federal data. In 2000, there were fewer than two dozen major disruptions, the data shows. In 2020, the number surpassed 180. Weather-related problems have driven much of the increase in large outages shown in federal data, topping 100 in 2020 for the first time since 2011. Beam Global’s products provide a sustainable and scalable supply of electricity for EV charging and other uses even during extreme weather events.

Flash and Mavi.io Bring Intuitive In-Dashboard Parking Payments to Detroit Auto Show 2023

With two simple taps, users can pay for parking from the dashboard of a connected vehicle.

DETROIT, Sept. 7, 2023 / — Flash, providing the world’s first end-to-end cloud-based parking, reservations, and EV Charging platform, today announced a partnership with Mavi.io to bring parking payment capabilities to the dashboards of connected vehicles. The new connected car solution, which was jointly developed to simplify parking transactions, will be available via Mavi’s OnMyWay™ Commerce platform.

Flash and Mavi.io will showcase the experience during the Detroit Auto Show Industry Technology Days on September 13th and 14th, in the Plug and Play demo area (spaces 126-134) in Hall D. Demos will also be available by appointment at 686 Brush Street, an outdoor Flash lot nearby the Detroit Auto Show.

“While connected car dashboards have long enabled hands-free messaging or navigation assistance, drivers are still left fumbling for their phones and credit cards when they need to purchase everything from lunch to parking,” said Mavi.io CEO & Founder Cynthia Hollen. “Our partnership with Flash adds another great frictionless transaction to the connected car experience.”

With this feature, drivers who enter a Flash parking garage will be automatically presented with parking payment options within their vehicle dashboard. Additionally, connected car drivers can find Flash parking through the in-dash OnMyWay™ Commerce platform and review parking costs based on their estimated parking duration. When a driver is ready to park, they simply tap their screen to confirm the purchase. Flash and Mavi.io will showcase the feature in a 2024 Jeep Grand Wagoneer during the Detroit Auto Show, but the integration can be adapted for any make or model of connected vehicle.

“Flash technology is installed at 16,000+ parking locations across all major North American cities, laying the groundwork to create the cleanest, fastest, commerce experience delivered within a connected vehicle,” said Dan Roarty, Chief Digital Officer at Flash. “With Mavi.io as our partner, our goal is to develop an intuitive, two-tap solution that streamlines how information is presented and transactions are confirmed.”

Dodona and AppyWay use the power of the UK’s most comprehensive kerbside dataset to unlock scalable on-street EVCP planning

August 31, 2023

Dodona and AppyWay use the power of the UK’s most comprehensive kerbside dataset to unlock scalable on-street EVCP planning

  • The UK currently has only 10% of the charging infrastructure required ahead of the 2030 ban on internal combustion engine vehicles.
  • To unlock the rollout of the necessary infrastructure it is essential that a scalable, evidence-based approach is taken if the UK is to meet its net-zero goals.
  • AppyWay and Dodona have partnered to integrate AppyWay’s comprehensive kerbside data into Dodona’s market-leading eMobility platform.
  • This partnership is already enabling some of the UK’s leading charge point operators to understand the UK’s complex kerbside restrictions and help scale decarbonisation.

Thursday 31st August 2023, London, UK: AppyWay, Europe’s most awarded intelligent kerbside data and management organisation and Dodona Analytics, the innovative aggregator and platform helping eMobility make data-driven and AI-powered decisions, are pleased to announce their partnership and the integration of the UK’s most comprehensive kerbside data available into the leading network planning platform Dodona eMobility.

Sales of new electric vehicles (EVs) have outstripped petrol and diesel, additionally, the roll-out of wider ULEZ policies, in London and other major UK cities is creating a dynamic drive to faster EV adoption. However, it’s estimated that the UK currently only has around 10% of the total chargers required by the 2030 ban on the sale of new Internal Combustion Engine vehicles.

A key barrier to electric vehicle charge point (EVCP) infrastructure rollout is a clear understanding of all the lines, signs and bays on-street during modelling. This data, known as traffic regulation orders (TROs), is held by local authorities and is often stored in a paper or text-based format. These formats are rarely machine or human readable creating a headache for charge point operators wanting to analyse and formulate an on-street EV charge point strategy fully.

To help councils and charge point operators (CPOs) overcome these barriers, AppyWay built the UK’s most comprehensive kerbside restriction dataset. By collating data from local authorities and its own TRO management system Traffic Suite, used by 15% of the UK’s councils, AppyWay has created the largest and most up-to-date dataset, covering 500+ towns and cities.

Together through their partnership, AppyWay and Dodona’s have bolstered the Dodona eMobilty platform with the highly accurate dataset, updated in real-time when AppyWay’s local authority partners make traffic order changes. Through the integration, some of the UK’s leading CPOs have already been empowered with the detailed kerbside insights they need to deploy a network at scale and get ‘buy-in’ from local authorities, local businesses and residents.

Dan Hubert, Founder & CEO of AppyWay comments, “As the 2030 ban on internal combustion engine vehicles approaches, the UK is at a crucial juncture. We must act swiftly and decisively to bridge the gap in charging infrastructure. Our partnership with Dodona is a pivotal step towards a net-zero future, as it equips charge point operators with the insights needed to make informed decisions and drive the scale of decarbonisation required.”

Chris Chamberlain, Co-Founder of Dodona adds, “Our collaboration with AppyWay marks a significant advancement in our mission to revolutionise EV charger network planning. By integrating AppyWay’s detailed kerbside data into our platform, we are empowering charge point operators with the tools they need to navigate the complexities of the UK’s kerbside and plan EV charging infrastructure with confidence. This partnership not only accelerates the growth of the charging network but also brings us closer to a cleaner, more sustainable transportation future.”
