Parkopedia and Uproad revolutionise in-car tolling payments for US drivers

  • ●  Uproad’s digital toll alert and payment services to be integrated into Parkopedia’s in-car payment platform, with coverage across the US at launch
  • ●  The partnership allows for automated digital toll payments that drivers now expect from within their connected vehicles, eliminating the requirement for a tolling transponder
  • ●  Toll roads are proven to be safer to use, with integrated systems allowing for full service and transaction visibility – allowing drivers to keep their attention on the road

    27 May 2022 – London, UK / Washington, USA

Parkopedia, a leading connected vehicles services provider, and Uproad, a leading mobile tolling payment system, have announced the integration of their platforms, automating the toll payment process for millions of drivers in the US.

American drivers complete nearly 6 billion journeys, along the country’s nearly 9,500km of toll roads, bridges and tunnels every year, according to the International Bridge, Tunnel and Turnpike Association (IBTTA), who also concluded that toll roads and bridges tend to be safer, better maintained and less congested route options for drivers.

Uproad toll alerts and payments are currently available in 19 US states, with further coverage to be added later this year. The partnership enables seamless access through tollways by unifying Parkopedia’s in-car payment platform with Uproad’s digital toll payment system, eliminating the need for a tolling transponder. Drivers only need to register and agree to terms and conditions once to enable license plate recognition to identify the vehicle every time it passes through a toll, triggering the automated and effortless payments that drivers now expect from their connected vehicles. Real-time notifications are also sent to the driver for each event, allowing for transaction transparency and ease of management.

In the future, Parkopedia’s in-car payment platform will be a key enabler for the global transition towards smart cities, where tolling systems for zone entry and exit or road use are set to become the industry norm. Drivers of connected vehicles will expect an automated, all-digital customer payment experience for all tolling stations and chargeable zones as standard.

In addition to tolling, Parkopedia’s vehicle-centric payment platform, allows drivers to pay for both on and off-street parking, as well as EV charging, and ‘pay-at-the-pump’ fueling, all via the vehicle’s infotainment system. The platform solves the time-consuming and expensive task of aggregating a large number of service suppliers and payment providers for automakers, uniting them into a single integrated solution. Unique Single Sign-On capabilities, with full Payment Card Industry (PCI) data security compliance, allows for consistency across all merchants and all commerce domains, bringing together a plethora of payment service providers without additional enforced customer authentication at the point of sale.

Anthony Michael Ibrahim, Director of Business Development and Partnerships in North America at Parkopedia, said: “Millions of US drivers use toll roads and crossings everyday. We are delighted to partner with Uproad to increase our payment platform’s tolling coverage across North America and provide drivers with the seamless, automated digital toll payments that they now expect from their connected vehicles. Uproad and Parkopedia are both providers of cutting edge driver convenience technology, and are committed to providing safe, transparent and secure systems enabling positive user experiences for drivers.”

Sean Boyan, VP of Business Development at Uproad, added: “This partnership marks an important chapter in Uproad’s pursuit of providing drivers with a frictionless way to navigate toll road charges and pay tolls. Parkopedia is a forward-thinking and dynamic industry leader, and we are truly excited to announce this partnership. Uproad covers about 90% of all US toll roads, so we’re confident that together we’ll vastly improve many driver’s toll road experiences.”

Uproad is the latest addition to Parkopedia’s portfolio of leading payment services in the US and Europe, joining recent additions such as parking operators Passport, APCOA and OPnGO, as well as fueling partners ThinxNet and CarPay-Diem, further expanding the reach of the Parkopedia Payment Platform since its launch last year.

Global PayByPhone App Launches in Italy & Germany, In Time for Summer Holidays

May 25, 2022

Global PayByPhone App Launches in Italy & Germany, In Time for Summer Holidays

470 new cities added to its global parking app

VANCOUVER, BRITISH COLUMBIA, May 25, 2022 – For millions of travelers each year[1], driving throughout Europe just got easier.  PayByPhone, the global leader in mobile parking payments, has today announced 470 new cities across Germany (370) and Italy (100) have been added to the company’s global parking app.

PayByPhone allows drivers to pay for parking and extend parking sessions remotely via its app in many cities, as well as provide smart alerts, helping drivers avoid costly parking fines.

“As people finally venture out on their long-awaited holidays, adding almost 500 cities from Germany and Italy to the PayByPhone app is just one more way we’re simplifying their journeys,” says Andy Gruber, PayByPhone’s CEO. “PayByPhone’s 50 million users can now use our app to pay for parking in big European tourist destinations like Berlin or Napoli, in addition to existing cities like Paris, London, and Amsterdam. The timing, just before the great post-COVID holiday summer of 2022, is perfect.”

With the addition of Italy and Germany, drivers can now park in more than 1,200 cities, across 11 countries, making PayByPhone the only company that provides the convenience of digital parking services throughout two continents (Europe and North America) in one app at this scale.

Travel has finally rebounded with force across Europe after COVID-19, with people eager to get back to experiences they’ve missed out on over the past two years.

“In April 2020, we saw 86% of parking activities disappear in North America and up to a 99% drop in European countries,” adds Gruber. “Now, two years later, our stats show that parking activity is actually exceeding pre-COVID levels. This shows us that car travel has become even more important, as many people still prefer the safety of their own car. Travel, activities, and movement are finally back.”

In Italy, for example, the company is already seeing 20% of parking happening from visitors outside of mainland Europe. It’s a far cry from the early days of Covid restrictions.

Carmen Donnell, Managing Director for PayByPhone North America adds, “This expansion into additional countries in Europe will help people as they take off on long-awaited holidays this summer. They won’t need to worry about finding the right currency or translating parking meters; they can simply use the app and get on with enjoying their time off.”

Blyncsy’s Machine Vision Technology Selected to Improve Public Transit in New York Tri-State Area

Transit Tech Lab announced that Blyncsy was selected among nearly 150 other applicants for the COVID-19 Recovery and Environmental Sustainability challenges, a global competition calling for technologies to improve public transit safety and meet clean energy objectives.

NEW YORK, May 24, 2022  — Transit Tech Lab announced that Blyncsy was selected among nearly 150 other applicants for the COVID-19 Recovery and Environmental Sustainability challenges, a global competition calling for technologies to improve public transit safety and meet clean energy objectives.Transit Tech Lab presented Blyncsy with the opportunity to pilot it’s Payver technology to gain insights into the condition of bus shelters and properly allocate resources to ensure bus shelters are clean and safe for NJ Transit. Port Authority of New York and New Jersey will also be piloting Payver to monitor paint line striping visibility and pavement condition. Blyncsy’s Payver technology utilizes dash cam imagery and machine learning algorithms to passively provide a roadway view of bus stops and automatically detect maintenance issues. Blyncsy’s machine vision technology can detect anything the eye can see, like whether a bus shelter is blocked or if trash and graffiti are present. Payver can also detect street lighting to see if shelters are properly lit at night or if a light is on during the day.

Currently, bus shelter maintenance relies on manual inspections and public complaints which can result in longer response times to issues. By using machine vision on roadways, agencies will gain near real-time insights, thus decreasing emissions and increasing the speed and efficiency of maintenance.

The COVID-19 Response Challenge was launched with the goal of ensuring customers and employees feel safe, reducing greenhouse gas emissions and making transit more responsive to the needs of New Yorkers. “Blyncsy’s goal is to make people actually want to use transit again and that they feel safe doing so. By addressing safety critical issues the minute they occur, we can help rejuvenate transit everywhere,” said Mark Pittman, founder and CEO of Blyncsy.

Blyncsy, along with the other seven companies chosen, will test their solutions over an 8-week period with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), Port Authority of New York and New Jersey and NJ TRANSIT.

I hope you dance: Thank you for attending and participating in PIE 2022 in Reno, NV  (PICS)

I hope you dance: Thank you for attending and participating in PIE 2022 in Reno, NV  (pics)

After coming down to earth from PIE 2022 and Reno, NV, Lee Ann Womack’s, I Hope You Dance is playing in my head. And I “blame” it all on amazing Marcy Sparrow.  Who captain a truly sincere, fun and engaging PIE show, despite all the challenges that we all have been facing.

“I hope you never lose your sense of wonder,
You get your fill to eat but always keep that hunger,
May you never take one single breath for granted,
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed,
I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean,
Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens,
Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.

I hope you dance… I hope you dance…”

We plan the location of our PIE conference 3 years ahead.  3 years ago, it was a very different world.  It was even different just a several months ago, when we first met for PIE 2022 in Dallas, then the NPA in Las Vegas and the IPMI conference in Tampa.  I believe most of us who thought we are double or then triple vaccinated, are immune to covid.  And  the inflation as we have today, with the gas prices as they are, was unimaginable.  Back then flight were inexpensive.  And plentiful even to Reno, NV.  Today, the world is a tad upside down.  Yet, we must have faith and hope and move forward.

Victor E, Frankl in his life changing Man’s Search for Meaning said: “Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms—to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.”

Thus, with lead of our captain Marcy Sparrow, we have decided to make PIE 2022 a joy fest with genuine interactions, celebrations, new perspectives and simple joy.  Albeit it was challenging to get to Reno.  Despite our JVH for first time due to Covid, not being able to be with us in person, just as many of you, this PIE to me was most special.

I met some incredible people and got closer to people I knew.  I attended some fantastic presentations and danced my behind off, at the greatest party sponsored by Duncan and organized by Marcy.

Thank you with all of my heart to all of our sponsors.  Thank you to all of you who gave us your most precious time to be with us in Reno.  Next year, we will be a direct flight away as in Chicago, and we can’t see you there.

We have lots of photos from PIE 2022 that you will be able to see soon.  In the meantime, here are a few of my snapshots.

“I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance,
Never settle for the path of least resistance,
Livin’ might mean takin’ chances, but they’re worth takin’,
Lovin’ might be a mistake, but it’s worth makin’,
Don’t let some Hell bent heart leave you bitter,
When you come close to sellin’ out reconsider,
Give the heavens above more than just a passing glance,
And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance.
I hope you dance… I hope you dance. …”

Lets keep on on dancing!  You all are amazing and you make this awesome parking industry strong and innovative.  God bless you all.

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Colorado Parking About To Get Smarter with Spot Parking

Colorado Parking About To Get Smarter with Spot Parking

Parking is about to get a whole lot easier for drivers in several Colorado cities after Australian-founded smart parking company, Spot Parking, wins the Colorado Smart City Alliance challenge and implements their smart parking solution.

Spot Parking CEO Elizabeth Zealand said it is refreshing to see Colorado cities welcoming opportunities for innovation and new technologies.

“Drivers – even locals – don’t know how to easily find the best place to park and that’s where our technology comes in,” said Ms. Zealand.

“Our technology interprets complex parking rules and regulations and presents the information in a user-friendly and easy-to-understand visual parking map, allowing drivers the opportunity to see where parking spots are available, when, and for how long,” she said.

“In a nutshell, drivers can be guided to the best parking spot suited for them – all via the map on their phone, before they leave for the day.”

Ms. Zealand said city parking and transportation directors also reap the benefits from the new technology.

“City parking directors can update important parking and transit information instantly to better communicate with drivers. And cities are getting insight into just how the curb is being used for better planning” she said.

The smart parking technology is currently being implemented in several areas across the state – Denver’s popular Cherry Creek shopping precinct, Arvada’s famous Olde Town district and in Colorado Springs’ Downtown and Old Colorado City areas.

Spot Parking is one of several international companies to establish their U.S. headquarters in Denver after completing the Global Denver Landing Pad hosted by the City & County of Denver’s Economic Development and Opportunity (DEDO) agency in partnership with the World Trade Center Denver (WTC).

“The Global Landing Pad confirmed my decision to choose Denver as our global headquarters. I have not seen a city where the government, business, academia and community are so consistent in their message and support to attract businesses,” said Ms. Zealand.

Spot Parking will also be taking part in this week’s Smart Cities Week 2022 in Denver, with their Director of Operations James Waddell leading a panel discussion about the importance of ‘Innovative Curb spaces’ in cities.

“If you’re not digitizing your city’s curbsides, you’re missing out on vital parking, mobility and transportation intelligence,” said Mr. Waddell.

“Cities like Denver, Arvada and Colorado Springs are revolutionizing the future of mobility for commuters, as now people can easily see when and where they can park thanks to Spot Parking’s technology. We are very excited to be a part of this,” he said.

Spot Parking was announced a recent winner of the Global Revive! Challenge by the Colorado Smart City Alliance, which sought innovative solutions to address active transportation issues for the cities of Colorado.

Check out the Parking Finders here for Denver, Arvada and (coming soon) Colorado Springs.

EasyPark CEO Nigel Bullers says ‘The partnership with ZipBy offers huge benefits to drivers which include:

  1. A convenient way to pay and extend parking – you can leave cards and cash in your wallet and reduce the risk of carrying cash and credit cards, which can be lost or stolen. Parking can be extended anytime from anywhere.
  2. A secure way to pay – ZipBy uses encrypted secure payment to reduce the threat to your personal and financial data.
  3. Faster way to pay – Mobile app contactless payment and secure transactions are a breeze, easier and faster than swiping, inserting a card or waiting in line at a meter using cash.
  4. Always able to pay – Credit card added as your default payment option, you have all of your parking charges on one bill to manage your finances and it also means no more running out of cash or coin to pay for parking

Alchemco’s DuraTite Temporary Roof System Proving Invaluable to Construction Industry as Supply Chain Issues Delay Roofing Materials

May 09, 2022

Alchemco’s DuraTite Temporary Roof System Proving Invaluable to Construction Industry as Supply Chain Issues Delay Roofing Materials

Alchemco’s Temporary Roof System Allows Workers to Proceed

with Interior Construction Without Fear of Leaks

HENRICO, Va.  – Alchemco, a world leader in innovative concrete waterproofing systems, has introduced a revolutionary new product that is helping to alleviate troublesome construction delays as a result of ongoing supply chain issues. With the delivery of roofing materials being delayed in many cases six to nine months, the company’s new DuraTite Temporary Roof System is allowing construction workers to confidently proceed with interior construction work while they await the arrival of the permanent roofing materials.

Alchemco’s DuraTite product line is known industry-wide as a best-in-class waterproofing and surface protection solution, whether the need is to plug an existing construction leak or lay new concrete. The company’s new Temporary Roof System takes that several steps further, providing a very quick and inexpensive way for concrete roof decks to be ‘dried in’ for up to a year so framers, electricians, plumbers, and other construction workers can continue work inside the building while they wait for permanent roofing materials to arrive.

“Alchemco is proud to have developed an effective solution that is proving invaluable for the construction industry considering lengthy material delays,” said Alchemco CEO Mario Baggio. “Our DuraTite Temporary Roof System allows critical building projects to proceed to the next phase while workers await necessary roofing materials, so they can stay on schedule. We’re pleased to serve as a solution provider for the construction industry, not only while supply chain issues continue to disrupt their workflow, but as their go-to waterproofing products that promise to extend the life of any construction project.”

In addition to the new DuraTite Temporary Roof System, the product line includes Crystalline Admix to effectively blocks the passage of water when added to concrete or mortar; DuraTite Foundation which blocks water when applied to the surface and ensures permanent water tightness; DuraTite Plug, a fast-acting hydraulic cement plug that stops actively-flowing water so leaks can be repaired; and DuraTite Repair Mortar, a quick-setting, ready-to-use repair mortar for vertical and overhead applications.

Originally developed more than 45 years ago, Alchemco’s unique technology has positioned the company as the dominant world leader in concrete waterproofing systems. Its products have been proven to help building owners avoid ongoing maintenance issues and structural problems typical of concrete structures, such as corrosion, spalling and carbonation. Compared to competing products, Alchemco’s waterproofing systems help owners save on application labor as well as the volume of materials needed to waterproof a structure, while protecting the concrete structure for decades.

Additional information about Alchemco’s DuraTite product line can be found online athttps://www.alchemco.com/duratite. Learn more about the company and its waterproofing products at the May 15-18, 2022 Parking Industry Expo (PIE) in Reno, Nev., where Alchemco can be found in Booth 426. Alchemco will also be present at the June 15-17, 2022 Northeast Bridge Preservation Partnership (NEBPP) Annual Meeting in Harrisburg, Pa.
