November 03, 2014

Mobile app allows customers to use smartphones to pay for parking – No need for quarters to feed parking meters!

Santa Ana, CA, November 3, 2014– Parkmobile USA, Inc. announced today that their mobile payments solution is available in Santa Ana’s historic downtown district. Customers can now pay for parking with their smartphones using Parkmobile’s mobile applications for iPhone, Android, Windows, and Blackberry phones. The Parkmobile service is being offered at approximately 500 city meters, and Santa Ana adds to the 50,000+ spaces the company currently has deployed in California.

“The City’s new smart meters have been a great success for businesses and residents in the downtown. Having multiple payment options and now the ability to pay for parking time remotely makes it much more convenient for people to visit our vibrant downtown,” said City Manager David Cavazos.
“Parkmobile is extremely excited to launch our mobile payment parking service in Santa Ana” said Cherie Fuzzell, CEO of Parkmobile USA, Inc. “We look forward to offering this technology, which enhances the parking experience by eliminating the need to swipe a card or feed coins to a meter. Our mobile payment service is an example of another technology that can make our lives easier and more efficient, and we are eager to work with Santa Ana to offer drivers a more robust means of parking.”

Parkmobile’s mobile payment system is very simple and easy to use. Customers need only to register online at www.parkmobile.com or download the mobile app in their phone’s app store. Once registered, they may use the mobile app, internet, or a toll free number to pay for parking. After setting up their account, customers can immediately start using the system with their registered mobile phone. Enforcement officers will be able to see that a motorist has paid with Parkmobile using a wireless handheld device, so customers should not worry if the meter does not change. Mobile app users may also choose to receive alerts and reminders 15 minutes prior to expiration of their parking session. Time limits on meters still apply and Parkmobile will not allow users to purchase more time than allotted by the meters.
