Long Serving Parking Australia President Retires
The President of Parking Australia Larry Schneider, last night announced he had formally retired as head of the parking industry’s peak body. The packed crowd at the Amora Hotel in Sydney had gathered to hear a member presentation by Westfield on their new parking initiatives when the announcement was made.
Parking Australia was founded in Perth in 1986 as an outcome of a Capital Cities Lord Mayors’ Conference. The Lord Mayors felt there was value in having an organisation that would bring together the various elements of, and promote excellence in the control and management of parking facilities. Larry joined the then Parking Association of Australia in 1990 and was elected to the committee in 1992. In 2008 he was elected President of the Association and has been instrumental in taking the industry body from strength to strength, notably the rebranding to Parking Australia and the development of the policy and profile of this national body. He has also steered the association through a new corporate structure and facilitated engagement of major parking partners.
Making the announcement Schneider thanked the members and his fellow Directors. “My time with the Association has been enormously rewarding, and I have enjoyed it immensely. We have achieved some significant milestones which would not have been possible without the vision and focus of our Directors and members and now it’s time to build on these achievements with a new President.”
In his final acknowledgement Larry thanked his Vice President – Managing Partner from Parking & Traffic Consultants Cristina Lynn who he proudly welcomed as the new President of Parking Australia. “Cristina has served Parking Australia competently as Treasurer and Vice President. She is thoroughly deserving of this role and I have no doubt that she and newly appointed Vice President Anthony Karam together with our dynamic Chief Executive Lorraine Duffy and the other directors will significantly increase the profile and value of membership of Parking Australia.”
