Parking Panda Launches New PandaScan Hardware Technology to Seamlessly Automate Redemption Process for Parking Garages Nationwide
Cutting-edge cloud technology automates and optimizes parking experience nationwide, starting with San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Minneapolis
Parking Panda, the nation’s leading app for on-demand parking in over 40 cities nationwide, today announced the launch of PandaScan, a cloud-based solution that integrates cutting-edge scanning hardware technology with its digital and mobile parking platform. PandaScan scanner units have been installed at select partner parking facilities throughout San Francisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Baltimore, and Minneapolis, with plans to further expand throughout the year.
“Parking Panda has long recognized the importance of removing friction to customers on their way in and out of partner facilities. To this end, we have already pioneered integrations with a host of hardware manufacturers to allow parking operators to make use of preexisting scanning technology where available, including integrations with Skidata, DataPark, TIBA and others,” said Nick Miller, CEO of Parking Panda. “With the launch of PandaScan, we are now able to offer a seamless solution to 100% of our partner facilities, regardless of hardware manufacturer or existence of scanners on-site. PandaScan delivers the ‘wow’ factor that gets customers talking about their experience with their friends and keeps them coming back (and driving increased revenue from repeat usage) to the most convenient partner facilities.”
PandaScan is a branded on-site scanning technology that can be easily installed and integrated with existing systems at any parking facility. The technology is hardware-agnostic and can be integrated with any brand of hardware and/or revenue control system. PandaScan scanner units only require power and a wired Internet connection to function and will integrate with Parking Panda’s comprehensive digital platform, enabling it to deliver a seamless experience for garage customers from start to finish. Parking Panda’s digital platform also gives operators the ability to dynamically price spaces based on inventory, automatically collect revenue on expired reservations, and track all transactions through automated reports, thereby increasing compliance with financial auditing.
Partner operators that have adopted this technology early on have seen significant boosts to traffic and customer loyalty. As a result of this success, Parking Panda has also announced an exclusive deal with Colonial Parking, the largest parking operator in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Area, which will grow the number of existing PandaScan-enabled locations throughout the D.C .metropolitan area from 14 to 25 Colonial Parking locations in 2015.
In announcing this partnership, Colonial Parking Executive Vice President and CIO William Cook said, “Building value through innovation is our top priority at Colonial Parking. We’re excited about this new automated system as it allows us to expose our growing list of automated locations to the online transient market providing both convenience and value to our consumers and clients.”
In order to use the PandaScan technology, drivers simply book guaranteed parking in real-time using Parking Panda’s free iOS or Android apps or in advance at www.parkingpanda.com. When a reservation is made, the customer receives a unique confirmation and QR code that can be shown by mobile app or printed out for convenient access to the selected location. Customers can then scan this confirmation code at the PandaScan hardware on-site to instantly open the gate upon entrance and exit for a quicker and more seamless parking experience.
