Wyman Roberts, Douglas Waggoner Elected Directors of SP Plus Corporation
CHICAGO, April 21, 2015 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — SP Plus Corporation (Nasdaq:SP), a leading national provider of parking, ground transportation and related products and services to commercial, institutional and municipal clients throughout North America, today announced that its shareholders have elected Wyman T. Roberts and Douglas R. Waggoner to the Company’s Board of Directors.
Mr. Roberts, 55, currently is president and chief executive officer, and a director, of Brinker International, Inc., a public company that operates the Chili’s Grill & Bar and Maggiano’s Little Italy restaurant chains. Mr. Roberts has served in various roles with Brinker since August 2005, and currently also serves as president of Chili’s. Prior to Brinker, Mr. Roberts served as executive vice president and chief marketing officer for NBC’s Universal Parks & Resorts, and in various positions for Darden Restaurants, Inc., most recently executive vice president of marketing.
Mr. Waggoner, 55, has been chief executive officer of Echo Global Logistics, Inc., a public company that provides a wide range of transportation and logistics services, since 2006, and a director since 2008. Before joining Echo, Mr. Waggoner founded SelecTrans, LLC, a Chicago-based freight management software provider. Mr. Waggoner also has served as chief executive officer of USF Bestway, senior vice president of strategic marketing for USF Corporation, and in various roles with Daylight Transport and Yellow Transportation.
James A. Wilhelm, chairman of the Company’s Board of Directors, said, “I’m pleased to formally welcome Wyman Roberts and Doug Waggoner to our Board. My fellow Board members and I look forward to gaining the benefit of their perspectives, input and hands-on participation to help drive the Company’s growth.”
G Marc Baumann, president and chief executive officer of SP+, stated, “We’re delighted with the addition of Wyman and Doug to our Board. They are sitting CEOs of growing public companies and have a wealth of experience in building highly successful businesses with large, dispersed workforces. Moreover, each brings a keen understanding of how to use technology to drive growth and efficiency. I’m very much looking forward to having them join us so we can benefit from their backgrounds and expertise as we strive for greater success at SP+.”
The election of Messrs. Roberts and Waggoner fills the director seats vacated by Charles L. Biggs and Myron C. Warshauer when their terms expired this month. Mr. Biggs had served as director since the Company’s initial public offering in June 2004, and Mr. Warshauer served the Company with distinction during an illustrious 42-year career that began when he became president of Standard Parking Corporation in 1973. Mr. Wilhelm said, “I speak for all Board members in expressing our sincere gratitude to Charles and Myron for their business acumen, professionalism and work ethic, which resulted in invaluable contributions to the Company over an extended period of time. We wish them much success, happiness and good health in the future.”
