BMW presents itself with ParkNow at the 17th EPA Congress and Parken 2015
As main sponsor of the 17th EPA Congress and Parken 2015, BMW Group presents the premium parking service “ParkNow”, which sustainably changes parking. It provides visitors of Parken, the only German trade exhibition which exclusively covers the planning, construction and operating of parking areas as well as participants of the 17th EPA Congress a practical and scientific insight into the parking offer of the future.
ParkNow: Finding, booking, and paying for parking under one roof
The acquisition of a share in Parkmobile Group B.V. enables the BMW Group to further strengthen its commitment in the field of innovative mobility services from BMW i. BMW is licensing the ParkNow brand to Parkmobile as part of a joint effort to further optimize their position as the leading global provider of parking solutions.
The premium parking service ParkNow covers the whole range of parking options and services and spares drivers − especially in major metropolitan areas − the time-consuming task of searching for a vacant and conveniently situated parking space. In the future, customers who plan to leave their cars in a car park near their destination can book a parking space before they set off by using either the ParkNow website or smartphone app. The website and app display the search results for car parks filtered by availability, distance and price.
In addition, it will become possible with ParkNow to make reservations en route with the navigation system, while automatic access control systems based on number-plate identification, for example, will allow drivers to enter the car park and access their reserved space. ParkNow is not limited to a specific brand, which means it can be used with vehicles of any make. As a result, ParkNow is poised to become a key sales partner for multi-story car park operators, which can easily offer on-board parking options and additional services via the provider of parking solutions.
Thanks to ParkNow, on-street parking is also becoming more convenient and customer-friendly than ever before. Drivers no longer need change to feed a ticket machine or parking meter. Instead, they can use the app or navigation system to start the parking session before getting out of the car. ParkNow then takes care of automatic invoicing. As an added convenience, customers receive notifications right on their mobile phones when the selected parking time expires. They can then extend their parking time without returning to the vehicle − provided the maximum time allotted has not yet been exceeded. ParkNow also benefits municipalities and cities by enabling them to create new parking management concepts and reduce the excess noise and exhaust caused by drivers as they search for a parking space. ParkNow will be available in selected German cities from late 2015.
