Ogden, UT – Drivers on campus won’t need to worry about running back to feed the meter! Weber State University is introducing Passport, the leading provider of mobile payments for parking and transit, to allow for drivers to pay for parking right from their mobile phone. Drivers will be able to manage their parking from any phone, tablet, or computer on hand! This service will be available for use on all of the campus’ parking spaces come mid-July.

This exciting new technology is free to download and quick to use. Once parked, signs in the campus lots will instruct users to download the PassportParking app in the iPhone App Store or Android Google Play. Smartphone users can also use the new service by going to https://m.ppprk.com to create their account. If parkers do not have a smartphone, the signage also displays a local phone number to call into.

Users of the Passport system can look forward to the convenience of reminder notifications before the end of their parking session, which will significantly help in avoiding parking tickets. Drivers will also be able to extend their parking session remotely from their phone (up to the maximum allotted time), so they will no longer need to come back to the parking meter to add time.

After an extensive search into various mobile payment providers through a formal bidding process, Weber State University chose Passport to provide this new parking technology for their campus. Passport has deployed mobile payment services in large cities such as Boston, Toronto, Chicago, and most recently in Salt Lake City.

“Parking Services is very excited to introduce a mobile payment option at the parking meters on both the Ogden and Davis campuses,” said Crystal Taylor, Parking Services Manager at Weber State University. “This option will allow students, faculty, staff, and guests to pay and extend their parking time all from the convenience of a smart phone by simply accessing the Passport app.”
