NPA Kick’s Off 64th Annual Convention and Expo Celebrating People, Progress and Performance

Washington, DC (August 31, 2015)—The National Parking Association (NPA) kicked off its 64th Annual Convention & Expo today at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach in Miami, Florida with a sold-out Expo.

The Convention features leading authorities on technology, human resources and business trends shaping the parking industry. The conference will focus on people, progress and performance and will look to the future of parking. Brooks Ellis, Vice President of Operations, Towne Park, and Adam Martinez, District Manager, Towne Park, serve as the NPA Convention Co-Chairs.

“The planning committee and NPA team have worked hard to pack this year with more education and networking opportunities than ever before,” said Martinez. He added, ”The Valet Olympics is not to be missed, nor are the new career fair, engaging social events and first-rate education focusing on preparing your teams for a successful future.”

The NPA Convention & Expo will feature an expert panel, Autonomous Vehicles: Intriguing Trend or Game-Changing Technology? on Tuesday, September 1st at 9:30 a.m. Eastern. Industry leaders will discuss and debate implications for the future of autonomous vehicles. Panelists will include Daniel Fagnant, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Texas; Joseph Kopser, CEO & Co-Founder, RideScout; and Ken Laberteaux, PhD, Senior Principle Scientist, Toyota Research Institute-North America. The panel will be moderated by Shelley Row, P.E., PTOE , MBA, CEO, Shelley Row Associates.

At the Awards Luncheon on Tuesday, September 1st at 1 p.m. ET, NPA will honor its 2015 Innovation Award winners and 40 Under 40 award inaugural class, celebrating the rising stars of the industry. The luncheon will conclude with a keynote speech by Art Noriega, Chief Executive Officer, Miami Parking Authority. He will discuss how a major metro market meets the needs of citizens and seeks out talent to meet those needs.

NPA’s Convention & Expo features six tracks of targeted education: peak performance, best practices, people & progress, the business of parking, Certified Parking Professional (CPP) certification and roundtable discussions. New this year, NPA Convention & Expo will feature progressive courses HR 101–301, BIZ 101–301 and Maintenance 101–301. Also new this year will be the first annual Career Fair held in the Expo hall. Career coaching and resume review services will be provided.

Industry experts and thought leaders will present insights, expertise and perspectives on parking in 2015 and beyond. NPA’s peer networks and roundtable discussions provide private and public sector professionals with access to peer experts and best practices worldwide.
