City launches new pay by phone parking meter app



Saint Paul is partnering with Passport to provide a pay by phone app for parking meters.


SAINT PAUL, MINN – Starting today, residents and visitors of downtown Saint Paul are able to pay for metered parking from their phone or smartphone. The City of Saint Paul has partnered with Passport to allow parkers to pay remotely using Passport’s mobile payment app.


“We are always looking for ways to better serve the residents and guests of Saint Paul. Paying for parking by phone is another way we are making getting around Saint Paul more convenient”, said Public Works Director Kathy Lantry. We’re really happy about the new service this partnership brings.”


New users of Passport’s mobile app can register and make meter payments in three ways:


  • The PassportParking mobile pay app on Google Play and in the Apple App Store
  • Passport’s mobile web site,
  • Over the phone by dialing (651) 571-4037


When making meter payments using Passport, parkers have the option to make a one-time payment using a credit card, which will require an additional transaction fee of 15¢, or pay using Passport’s prepaid wallet without an additional fee. Adding a prepaid wallet to your account requires a minimum deposit of $10, which can be used to pay for parking.


Passport will initially be available in the downtown area, but will quickly expand to meters in the Capitol area and University Avenue. Updates will be posted to
