The University of Michigan Introduces Passport Mobile Pay for Pilot
Ann Arbor, MI – The University of Michigan is bringing a new way to pay for visitor parking on campus. The campus is introducing the Passport mobile app, which allows drivers the convenience of paying for parking right from their smartphone. With Passport’s solution, drivers will be able to manage their parking from any phone, tablet, or computer on hand. Users can even extend their parking session from the app without having to walk back to the parking pay station.
“The use of this evolving technology to provide an additional method of payment for our students, visitors and guests offers not only convenience and efficiency for those parking, but potential savings from reduced operating and maintenance costs for the University, said Diane DeLaTorre, Associate Director of Parking Operations and Maintenance. “Card payment now comprises up to eighty percent of the payments received at our typical visitor parking location, so now is the right time to introduce the Passport app.”
“We’re very excited to be partnering with the University of Michigan to make parking more convenient on campus,” said Alexandra Wells, Sales Associate at Passport. “This app will save students time when they pay for parking and give them flexibility so that they can extend their parking session right from their phone.”
This exciting new technology is free to download and quick to use. Once parked, signs in the campus lots will instruct users to download the PassportParking app in the iPhone App Store or Android Google Play. Smartphone users can also use the new service by going to ppprk.com to create their account.
Drivers can begin taking advantage of the app on February 8th. This service will be piloted on 144 parking spaces in the North Campus NC43 Lot, and will eventually expand to all 850 parking spaces on campus.
