City introduces mobile app for quicker parking payments

The city is aiming to ease the hassle of paying for parking at various city-wide locations including the York Street Lot, New Avenue Lot, Eastern/Washington Lot, which include 447 parking spaces. The app allows parkers to pay for parking, receive notifications when their parking sessions are low on time, and extend sessions their remotely.

“The PassportParking app will be a great option for the commuter parkers — especially the ones running late for the train,” said Joliet Parking Superintendent, Tom Schwerha. “Being able to provide our residents and visitors with an efficient way to navigate their parking experiences is just the beginning of the innovative technology we are adding to continue to better our community.”
