High Performance Grille Joins Extreme® 300 Series of Rolling Closures

Mountain Top, PA (July 2017) – CornellCookson, Inc., a worldwide closure and safety solutions leader, adds a new high performance grille to its product portfolio that maximizes productivity and reduces downtime in high traffic applications. Joining the Extreme 300 Series of High Performance Doors, the grille features a sustainable, durable design rated for continuous duty. The series offers a springless design and up to 300,000 maintenance-free cycles.

Intended to secure parking facilities, airports and transportation hubs, the new grille features a transparent surface and operates up to three times faster than standard coiling grilles, opening at speeds up to 24″ per second and closing at 12″ per second. However, the operator’s variable-frequency drive ensures a soft start and stop, with no sprockets or chains to wear or replace.

For aesthetics flexibility, the perimeter of the High Performance Grille is available in more than 180 colors of environmentally friendly powder coatings. This allows architects and designers to integrate the perimeter components of the grille seamlessly into the surrounding exterior or make a colorful architectural statement.

The diverse family of High Performance rolling closures offer unique attributes for a variety of commercial and industrial uses. All Extreme 300 Series High Performance Doors are available in two material choices, galvanized steel and stainless steel. A unique and lasting powder coat finish customized for high-cycle usage is available for galvanized steel doors.

Each comes standard with an Apex™ SmartController, the brand’s first intelligent control panel. Featuring a plug-and-play connection between the motor, control panel and standard sensors, the system includes an LCD screen that walks users through everything from door adjustments to error messages. Additionally, each product features optional aesthetic, safety and protection, and design solution options.

Safety features include a continuous duty operator, an advanced control system, a self-lubricating guide design and a self-supporting installation option. In addition, there are UL 325 – 2010 compliant photo eye sensors and a 6 foot safety light curtain, as well as a patented, high-performance brake that prevents the curtain from free falling in the unlikely event of operator component failure.

A natural extension of the brand’s lineup of High Performance Doors, the Extreme 300 Series Insulated Door answers the call for innovation in the rolling door market. It holds the distinction of being the most energy efficient high performance rolling product available today.

The product adheres to strict requirements of state and national energy requirements, pairing durability and security with measurable energy savings. The combination of a unique sealing system, thermally broken guide construction and insulated curtains minimize air infiltration and thermal transference through openings.

The insulated rolling door effectively meets air infiltration requirements of less than 0.3 cfm/ft2, reduces air infiltration by 94% (compared to a standard rolling door) and has been successfully tested to comply with prescriptive air infiltration and energy efficiency requirements:

  • American Society of Heating, Refrigeration, and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE®) 1-2013
  • International Energy Conservation Code (IECC®) 2015
  • California’s Title 24 Energy Code
  • Can help contribute up to 38 credit points in five LEED categories
