City of Racine Introduces Mobile Parking Payment App Powered by Passport

New app adds convenient payment option for parking

Racine, WI (September 29, 2017)– The City of Racine announced the launch of PassportParking®, a mobile parking app that makes paying for parking simple. The app is powered by Passport, the industry’s leading mobile technology solution serving cities and universities throughout North America.

The PassportParking app allows users to purchase parking with a debit or credit card from their smartphones. Drivers no longer have to carry around change or run back to the meter.

With PassportParking, users can also:

  • Monitor parking sessions
  • Extend time remotely
  • View payment history
  • Receive email receipts

The app also features a digital wallet, which allows parkers to pre-load funds in $10 increments using their debit or credit cards. Frequent parkers will benefit by loading a digital wallet, which provides a $0.15 savings on the convenience fee for each parking session.

Users who park in spaces that are marked with a ‘2 hour limit’ sign will be able to extend their parking session through the app without physically being at the meter. Users who park in ‘4 hour limit’ spaces, will be able to extend their parking sessions up to total of 8 hours through the app.

“The launch of the PassportParking mobile app is an exciting initiative for the City of Racine,” said Mike Maierle, parking and transit system manager for Racine. “With the PassportParking app, residents and visitors will find Racine a much more fun and convenient place to visit.”

“Our parking app solves the hassle of having to carry coins to feed the meter,” said Sarah Russell, project manager at Passport. “We’re excited to bring a mobile option to the City of Racine that makes managing and paying for parking convenient.”

The app is also available in other nearby cities such as Appleton and Green Bay. The PassportParking app is free to download through the App Store and Google Play. Users can also manage their parking at ppprk.com.
