INDECT’s unique fish-eye surveillance module allows clients to monitor all aspects of the parking garage not just the parking space
(Boston MA, June 10, 2019) INDECT USA, the industry’s leading provider of parking guidance systems, today reveals their unique, fish-eye surveillance module to the US market.
Unlike any other parking guidance cameras on the market, the INDECT surveillance module offers ultra-high definition, full-colour images that are streamed in real-time, providing complete coverage of the entire parking garage, not just the parking space.
“One of the best features of our fish-eye surveillance module is that you can monitor activity anywhere in the garage, at any time,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA.
“Most parking guidance cameras focus on the parking spaces in the immediate vicinity of the sensor but this doesn’t tell you what’s going on in the rest of the garage.” said Fowler. “You get a nice image of a parked car or a vacant space but you miss out on any activity of interest that might be happening in the stairwells, doorways or driveways.”
“If a theft or vandalism occurs, standard parking guidance cameras might capture an image of the perpetrator but they don’t provide any information about where the person entered the garage or how they exited.” he explained.
“Were they working alone or as part of a team? Where were the security personnel at the time of the incident? All this information is extremely important, not just for catching the person responsible but to make sure it doesn’t happen again.” said Fowler.
The surveillance module is available as an add-on to the UPSOLUT parking guidance system. It is installed directly underneath the sensor but within the IP67 rated housing, making it extremely discrete as well as completely protected from dust, dirt and water.
According to Fowler, it is this unique placement, combined with the fish-eye lens, that enables the module to capture such a wide view. It is not necessary to have the modules installed on every sensor to achieve 100% coverage. Placing them at key position points such as intersections, stairwells, doorways and other pedestrian areas, is enough to provide a complete picture of the garage.
The surveillance module is available in a choice of 3 or 5 megapixels with up to 2592 x 1944 QSXGA full colour image resolution and is capable of streaming at 26 frames/second. This is far superior to the industry standard, which remains at 720 x 480 VGA resolution. The module is also ONVIF compatible so INDECT is able to route all footage directly into the client’s existing, on-site security system.
“Why have two security systems?” said Fowler. “It makes much more sense to view and record the garage footage from within the existing security system. This way the regular security personnel are able to monitor garage activity as part of the whole security operation. They can even work the camera’s pan/tilt/zoom function from within their regular software.”
The surveillance module is ideal for any site that wants to extend their existing security into the garage. This includes universities, airports, casinos, entertainment complexes and shopping malls.
The INDECT surveillance module is currently installed at The Dubai Mall in Dubai.
