Lancaster Parking Authority: Park Your Butts Here on March 18

LANCASTER, PA. (March 10, 2020) – Exchange your cigarettes and other tobacco devices) for a gift card during Park Your Butts Here Day, Wednesday, March 18 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., at the corner of W. Orange and N. Queen Sts.

You can turn in unused packs of cigarettes, electronic and vaping devices, for $5 in downtown dollars (gift cards accepted by most retailers and restaurants downtown) and a goodie bag.

Also available at the resource table will be people to answer questions about cigarette and nicotine use via electronic cigarettes or vaping devices and nicotine cessation resources.

“Stop by the table for important information that can impact your health, your family’s health, and the health of your community,” said Larry J. Cohen, executive director of the Lancaster Parking Authority. “We want to also remind people that all LPA garages and facilities are tobacco-free, an initiative we began last year to help protect community health.”

The resource table, sponsored by the Lancaster Parking Authority and Penn Medicine Lancaster General Health, will include ways to stop the use of cigarettes, electronic and vaping devices and begin a nicotine-free journey. The event is part of the national Take Down Tobacco Day. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the national goal toward achieving the first tobacco-free generation, sponsored by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids. According to the organization, in 2019, more than 6.2 million kids used tobacco products in 2019 and 25 percent of high-school students used e-cigarettes.
