AppyWay future proofs mobility strategy with new board appointments
London, UK – AppyWay, Europe’s most awarded intelligent kerbside and smart parking pioneer, has appointed two new board members and one new advisor to provide the company with invaluable expertise across logistics, automotive and IoT. Their collective knowledge will further support AppyWay’s mission to empower cities with a data driven platform that transforms the kerb into an accessible commodity ready for the demands of future mobility.
The first board appointment is Ron Kornfeld, an Amazon veteran who led business organisations in three start-ups within the American multinational over eight and half years. Ron was Head of Worldwide Business Development for Transportation Technology, the team deploying the technology supporting Amazon’s One Hour Prime logistics service. Following that, Ron was Head of Worldwide Business Development for Alexa Auto, working with OEMs and building an ecosystem to extend Alexa’s extraordinary in-home customer experience to an on-the-go service.
John Fogelin, AppyWay’s resident CTO and Chief Security Officer, is the next board appointment. Another seasoned technologist with experience in building and growing Silicon Valley based technology companies including Wind River Systems, that exited for $884m. He also led the team who wrote the operating system for the Pathfinder Rover which landed on Mars 4th July 1997. The operating system remains in active use in rovers sent into space today. John’s vast IoT knowledge came from his previous role at EVRYTHNG, an enterprise class platform-as-a-service designed to operate hundreds of millions of digitally active, cloud-driven products with real-time data, high availability and security.
Last but not least, Geert-Jan Kistemaker joins AppyWay’s Advisory Board. Geert-Jan is currently VP and Global Head of Corporate Development and M&A at Delphi Technologies, a global tier-1 supplier of vehicle propulsion technologies, with a mission of making cleaner technologies, solutions and services for vehicles that drive further and better on any power source. Geert-Jan has a long-standing investment banking background, predominantly focused on Auto and FinTech M&A and IPOs ranging from $10m-$10bn. His significant experience in acquiring, selling, investing and advising technology companies will give AppyWay a strong sounding-board as we continue our path of rapid growth.
Dan Hubert CEO and Founder of AppyWay says “Digitising a very analogue and siloed industry such as parking takes a lot of strategic thinking, patience and proof points. Having additional big thinkers and seasoned executioners joining the AppyWay team is incredibly exciting as they all add tremendous experience and mutual passion needed to crack the current kerbside status quo and unlock sustainable mobility.”
