“Our doubts are traitors …” – ParkNews.biz – Aug 25th-31st, 2020

“Our doubts are traitors,
and make us lose the good we oft might win,
by fearing to attempt.”  – William Shakespeare, Measure for Measure

This past week, Aug 25th – 31st, 2020 on ParkNews.biz – parking notes:

Touchless, ticketless, “stickerless” parking trend is expanding.  In Austin, TX “a new payment system for parking on the street will make it so drivers don’t need to display a sticker on their vehicles, the Austin Transportation Department said. Starting Tuesday, drivers will be able to enter license plate numbers into a parking kiosk instead of having to print a tag, officials said. Downtown pay stations will be converted to the new payment system first, and then officials will tackle the rest of the city’s more than 8,000 paid parking spaces, the Transportation Department said.’

In Portland, ME, two parking garages are going for a wave of a hand to dispense a ticket.  Then the customer can pay upon exit via Passport App, Apple Pay, Google Pay or Paypal.

In Rockville, MD ParkMobile takes over where MobileNow left off with contactless parking.   ParkMobile also comes to Auraria Campus in Denver, CO replacing Passport App.

Passport makes parking easier and cashless in New Bedford, MA.

In Oklahoma City, OK, EMBARK  partners with Flowbird “for a smart parking solution offering a fast, easy and secure option to pay for parking via mobile phone through an application on iOS and Android.”

Amazon and FedEx are planning to bring robots to our sidewalks to deliver your packages.

Ron Votto becomes Vice President at Park Assist.  “In his new role, Ron’s responsibilities will expand to include several of the legal and contractual review processes, and he will play a crucial role in managing the entire business alongside Park Assist’s existing Executive Team. Ron will be responsible for implementing a range of company objectives, including continuing to support both client and partner relationships and actively communicating our client’s needs and priorities on a company-wide scale.”

REEF Technology goes from Parking to Food.  As in restaurant biz ghost kitchens or food trucks. “Even before the pandemic, the very definition of a restaurant was starting to change thanks to ghost kitchens, virtual brands, off-premises tools, and the broader digitization of the restaurant experience. But COVID-19 has supercharged that process. Now more than ever, operators are discovering that they don’t need brick and mortar to open a concept in a new community; all they really need is a commercial kitchen.

REEF Technology is one company meeting operators in that demand.”

And last but not least, faith makes the world go around and they won’t shut us down.  Read the latest blog from JVH about Los Angeles area Church.  Grace wins!  The Church I have attended yesterday and its parking lot, were full.  Because after all, most of us, as these companies here mentioned on ParkNews.biz, choose courage over fear and park any doubts away.
