SCHAUMBURG, ILLINOIS — The Concrete Reinforcing Steel Institute is pleased to announce Midwest Region Manager, David Shepherd, AIA, has received the Concrete Sustainability Award by The American Concrete Institute (ACI). He was selected for the recognition for his “…exemplary achievement, groundbreaking research, and service to ACI and the concrete industry.”

In his role at CRSI since 2019, David is responsible for the processes and promotion of the benefits of reinforced concrete in the Midwest Region. A licensed architect, Mr. Shepherd has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry. Prior to CRSI, he spent 18 years at the Portland Cement Association where he most recently held the position of Director of Sustainable Development, and previously as Residential Technology Program Manager.

Mr. Shepherd also worked for a commercial general contractor, was a construction manager for a leading real estate investment/management company, and a principal of a residential design/build business. Mr. Shepherd received a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Architecture from the University of Illinois.

ACI annually recognizes select professionals, groups, and companies for their outstanding contributions and dedication to ACI and the concrete industry.
