Planes, trains and automobile: ParkNews.biz May 18th – 24th, 2021

It is good news week on ParkNews.biz: People are traveling again!  Planes are full.  Albeit it is a pain, there are traffic jams again.  And the parking lots and garages are filled with cars.

According to the article from The Columbian, “in the U.S., about 37 million Americans plan to travel for the holiday, up 60 percent from the Memorial Day weekend of 2020, according to the Auto Club.” Read it here: May 24, 2021 – About 37M Americans plan to travel Memorial weekend.  As far destinations go, it seems that large number of people are heading to National Parks.  Mainly because outdoor vacations give them freedom.  As they don’t have to worry so much about rules and regulations and they can go mask free.  It is all about nature.  As getting back to nature and the nature as the laws of the nature: Sweet smell of freedom.

The headline article due to the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend, is from Minneapolis, MN: May 24, 2021 – Packed Planes Await Memorial Day Weekend Travelers: ‘It’s A Complete 180’.  In June 2020 MSP Airport had 139 daily take offs.  This June it looks it is set to be 404 planes taking off daily. “It’s not just a turnaround, it’s a complete 180 just within the last two months,” Kyle Potter, executive editor of Thrifty Traveler said. “If you’re flying within the United States, you should just assume that your flight is going to be full.” The downside?  Due to staffing, it might take you much longer to check in and check in your bag.  So if you are flying, make sure to arrive early.

From May 24, 2021 – AAA Poll Reveals Summer Travel Surge: “Optimism coinciding with the COVID-19 vaccine rollout and growing consumer confidence are fueling a strong desire to travel this summer as the U.S. takes steps toward putting the pandemic behind us,” said Tracy E. Noble, manager of Public and Government Affairs for AAA Mid-Atlantic. “The AAA poll shows that New Jersey residents have a pent-up demand for quick getaways and even longer, more extravagant trips – so called ‘Revenge Travel.’”

Life is becoming dynamic again.  This is great news for all of us in parking industry.  And parking companies are striving to make parking easier at various airports.  This past week, May 20, 2021 – HUB: ATLWest Gets Frictionless Parking at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport.  Also, May 24, 2021 – Rapid City, SD Regional Airport implements new pay parking system from Flash Parking.

With all the excitement about travel, we are more then ever thrilled to see you in Dallas, TX July 18-21, 2021.  Our July 2021 PT Issue is going to print soon.  It will have the full schedule of or seminars and more.

In the meantime, enjoy your Memorial Weekend wherever you are and have a fun trip by plane, train or automobile.

Thank you.

Sincerely,
