CENTRAL STATES BUILDING WORKS NAMES AHMED ABDELAAL VICE PRESIDENT OF ENGINEERING AND OPERATIONS

TONTITOWN, AR – April 9, 2024Central States, a leader in metal building components, roofing, and building packages, has named Ahmed Abdelaal to the new role of Vice President of Engineering and Operations for the Central States Building Works division.  Ahmed will lead the group’s technical services including engineering, drafting, and detailing and will bring his know-how in automation, software, operations, and manufacturing to the business as preparations are made for the company’s new frame plant, planned to open in Springdale, Arkansas in the Spring of 2025.

“I’ve always believed in the power of innovation to create solutions, to overcome roadblocks, and work collaboratively,” Abdelaal said.  “Central States has a great reputation for metal building components and packages and is expanding upon this foundation to add new offerings, manufacturing capability, and know-how to serve our customers well.  I look forward to playing a role in this evolution of Central States Building Works.”

Ahmed brings almost three decades of industry experience working for some of the largest Pre-Engineered Metal Building (PEMB) companies in the United States and internationally.  He comes to Central States after spending the initial 11 years of his career at American Buildings Company (now Nucor) and Butler Manufacturing Company (now BlueScope Steel), where he held leadership positions in engineering and project management.  For the last 12 years, Ahmed has served global companies by building out factories and technical capabilities in executive operations roles. He has worked with large, multi-national commercial customers in retail, auto shops, warehouses & logistics facilities, car showrooms, sports arenas, entertainment facilities, aircraft hangars and manufacturing, leading commercial general contractors, and public entities, including the US military.

“We are excited to welcome Ahmed to the team. He has an outstanding track record driving technical excellence, assembling high-performing teams, and leading growth in the metal buildings industry,” said Jennifer Davis, President of Central States Building Works. “His expertise will be invaluable to our employee-owners and customers as we continue expanding our solutions and capabilities to meet the needs of our customers today and into the future.”

Central States Building Works designs and delivers material-only building packages across the United States for commercial, storage, agricultural, industrial, and other applications. The business unit was established in 2003 as Central Storage Works and was rebranded earlier this year in recognition of its expansion to additional building types and capabilities. Starting with an idea and a location, the business provides a full portfolio of services from initial estimating to drafting, and working through final contracting and engineering stamps, delivering all that is required to erect the building directly to the job site.  These custom kits include metal bolt-up buildings, rigid frame metal building systems, carports and garages, self-storage, and more. When combined with private label manufacturing capabilities, Building Works enables customers to grow their portfolio of offerings.  All Central States Building Works packages include metal building components, which are 100% recyclable and designed with sustainability in mind.

On November 15, 2023, Central States broke ground on a new 105,000-square-foot plant to support the fast-growing pre-engineered metal frame business. The factory, which will open in 2025, expects to grow to 140 employee-owners over the first few years of operation.

Central States, Inc. (www.centralstatesco.com) is 100% employee-owned and was founded in 1988. With over 1,400 employee-owners and 11 manufacturing facilities, the company serves over 6,000 commercial, architectural, post frame, and residential contractors and customers across the United States across three business operating units. Central States Manufacturing is a leading manufacturer of metal building components with 14 metal roofing and wall panel profiles, along with a full line of trim, accessories, and structural purlin. Two new factories are under construction, including a frame plant for pre-engineered metal buildings. Central States Building Works provides material-only building packages for self-storage and metal building systems. In 2022, Central States acquired Elevate Structures (formerly Storage Structures, Inc.), a leader in self-storage offering the patent-pending Alpha Framing System.

ParkHub and JustPark Agree to Merge Alongside Strategic Growth Investment from FTV Capital and LLR Partners

  • Leading US parking solutions provider, ParkHub, and one of the UK’s leading app-based parking platforms, JustPark, agree to merge.
  • Together, ParkHub and JustPark currently serve more than 20 million drivers and over 500 B2B customers, representing $1 billion+ in booking volume.
  • Combination of leading parking technology and payments providers creates robust end-to-end platform to serve entire parking ecosystem in North America and the United Kingdom.
  • This growth acquisition is backed by FTV Capital and existing investor, LLR Partners.

DALLAS and LONDON – March 21, 2024 – ParkHub, a leading North American provider of parking management software and payments solutions, today announced an agreement to combine businesses with JustPark, one of the UK’s leading app-based parking reservations technology and payments platforms. The combination creates a full-service parking software and payments solution for customers across North America and the United Kingdom. As part of this transaction, ParkHub secured a strategic growth investment led by FTV Capital with participation from existing investor LLR Partners.

“After 18 years at the forefront of transforming parking experiences for millions, our merger with ParkHub catapults JustPark to new heights,” said Anthony Eskinazi, founder and CEO of JustPark. “Our dedication to improving the parking experience for drivers continues, and with our cutting-edge technology and unrivalled support, we’re set to revolutionize parking for our customers and partners both here in the UK, and now also in North America.”

ParkHub provides a complete parking technology ecosystem to optimize revenue-driven parking operations, including facilitating payments and delivering real-time business insights for parking operators and venue management companies across North America, serving some of the largest sports and entertainment venues, universities, municipalities and commercial asset holders. JustPark will continue to leverage its technology to facilitate an online marketplace in the UK by matching drivers with available parking spaces and monetizing unused parking capacity. Together, ParkHub and JustPark currently serve more than 20 million drivers and more than 500 B2B customers, representing $1 billion+ in booking volume. JustPark’s Eskinazi will continue to lead the UK business.

“We are excited to invest in JustPark’s vision to provide the world’s best parking experiences and look forward to leveraging the combined company’s capabilities for our marquee customers across North America and the UK,” said Jeff Shanahan, CEO at ParkHub. “Having successfully worked with FTV in the past, I’m confident that their track record and extensive expertise within the vertical software and payments space make them the ultimate value-add partner to complement LLR as we chart this next phase of growth.”

The accelerating transition from cash to digital payments and growing adoption of prepaid parking has precipitated a need for an end-to-end platform that helps high-velocity parking facilities more efficiently manage their parking operations. Adding to this momentum, primary ticketing vendors are increasingly relying on partnerships with prepaid parking providers for on- and off-venue parking to help improve ingress and effectively manage parking reservations. With this acquisition, we believe that ParkHub is well positioned to capitalize on these industry tailwinds by leveraging JustPark’s parking reservations and mobile payments capabilities.

“Both ParkHub and JustPark stand out as category-leading vertical SaaS and payments platforms in their respective markets, and we’re excited to help these two complementary, yet distinct, offerings come together and accelerate growth in the expansive parking software and payments market,” said Kyle Griswold, partner at FTV Capital. “We’re also thrilled for the opportunity to once again partner with both Jeff and LLR. Jeff has been a leader at several successful FTV portfolio companies and has extensive experience growing and scaling vertical software and payments companies.”

“We are thrilled to announce our combination with JustPark, and to partner with Anthony and the entire JustPark team. Together, we will continue to provide our customers and partners with industry leading parking software and payment solutions,” said Ryan Goldenberg, partner at LLR Partners. “In addition, we welcome FTV Capital to ParkHub’s board of directors and look forward to a successful strategic partnership.”

As part of this growth investment, Kyle Griswold and Adam Hallquist, principal at FTV Capital, joined ParkHub’s board of directors.

Flowbird: Charleston, SC Updates Its Parking System with Effortless Digital Solutions

Flowbird: Charleston, SC Updates Its Parking System with Effortless Digital Solutions

New touchscreens and mobile payment options offer faster convenience

Charleston, SC — The City of Charleston, South Carolina has announced an exciting upgrade to its parking system in partnership with Flowbird Group, the leader in curbside management and urban mobility solutions. The City is updating its parking system with modernized touch-screen pay-by-plate parking kiosks, fully equipped with the industry’s latest technology. Additionally, the City will be offering two new digital payment options, the Flowbird mobile payment app and Pay-by-Text! The upgrade is a part of City’s continued efforts to enhance the customer service experience with a modernized solution.

The updated parking system will feature solar-powered parking kiosks with a 9.7” full color touch display available in all City-owned surface lots. The touch screen display has the look and feel of a tablet, walking users step-by-step through the transaction process.

The new parking kiosks will introduce a ‘pay-by-plate’ parking system. This means that users will no longer be required to return to their car to display a receipt on the dashboard. Instead, all they need is their license plate.

“The City of Charleston is excited about the opportunity to upgrade our parking meter technology to improve the parking experience for our citizens and those who visit our wonderful city,” said Director of Traffic and Transportation Robert Somerville.

The City is also excited to announce the release of two other digital parking solutions, the Flowbird Mobile Payment App and Pay-by-Text!

The Flowbird App allows patrons to pay for parking from their mobile devices, receive text notifications when time is about to expire, and extend their time without having to visit a parking kiosk. Designed as a true mobility app, the Flowbird App features a map-based user interface, integrated with Waze and other navigation systems to guide users to their preferred parking location.

The app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play Store.

Pay-by-Text is an easy-to-use web-based solution that allows drivers to pay for their parking session directly from their phone – without creating an account or downloading an app!

By implementing modernized parking solutions with convenient payment options, the City will be able to better manage parking turnover and visitor influx during peak periods and provide a more user-friendly experience. The addition of digital payment options will bring a consistent and higher level of customer service to the parking public.

Clearwater, Florida Launches Pay by Text Solution – No App or Account Required

New parking payment option released ahead of Spring Break

Clearwater, Florida — The City of Clearwater, Florida has released Pay by Text, the latest advancement in the City’s parking convenience options, in partnership with Flowbird, the City’s parking kiosk provider. Pay by Text is an easy-to-use web-based solution that allows drivers to pay for their parking session directly from their phone without creating an account or downloading an app.

This latest feature adds another convenient way to pay when parking in city-owned parking spaces, lots, and garages in Clearwater, alongside the pay-on-foot parking meters and mobile payment apps.

How Pay by Text Works:

  1. Park your vehicle
  2. Text ‘CLEARWATER’ to 727563
  3. Receive a secure link to input your parking details – including license plate number, duration, and payment information
  4. Confirm the details to start your parking session

Information is sent to parking enforcement who can verify the vehicle is in compliance. That’s it! There is no need to create an account, download an app, or visit a kiosk.

“We are very excited about the launch of the Pay by Text service – just in time for visitors coming in for Spring Break,” said Clearwater Parking Manager, Jeremy Alleshouse, “This feature gives our residents and visitors even more convenience when they park in our bright and beautiful city.”

The Pay by Text solution is PCI-DSS certified, giving assurance to parkers that their data is protected. Once the parking session is complete, the payment information is encrypted and the card data is not stored. To provide the parker with future convenience, their mobile device can store the card number in an encrypted manner so the number does not have to be re-entered the next time a parking session is performed.

By implementing modernized parking solutions with convenient payment options, the City will be able to better manage parking turnover and visitor influx during peak periods. The City can help motorists stay in compliance with parking enforcement, reducing the number of citations.

Along with pay by text, visitors may still use the parking kiosks to pay for their parking session, as well as the Flowbird mobile app and Parkmobile.

Pay by Text is now live throughout the City of Clearwater.

Cheshire, CT  – TKH Security (formerly Park Assist) is thrilled to announce its recent collaboration with Horseshoe St Louis in St Louis, Missouri. The core of the partnership is the installation of a state-of-the-art Automated Parking Guidance System (APGS), ushering in a new era of parking efficiency and convenience for Horseshoe St Louis and its patrons.

Horseshoe St Louis is a premier casino and entertainment destination in St. Louis, Missouri. With the installation of TKH Security’s APGS, the casino aims to elevate the experience of guests and employees alike in its 867-space, four story parking garage.

TKH Security’s APGS optimizes parking facility management and enhances the parker’s experience from initial garage entry to an open space. Monitoring up to six parking spaces simultaneously, the M5 camera-based smart sensor is the core of the APGS. Sensors utilize streaming HD video 24/7 to provide operators with real-time occupancy data for each parking bay. With 99%+ accuracy, M5 sensors ensure precise and up-to-date information about space availability. Green and red LED lights on the sensors navigate parkers to the available spaces, reducing the time to park by up to 63%.

“We’re pleased to be selected by Horseshoe St Louis in their quest to elevate customer satisfaction through innovative parking solutions. This partnership showcases our dedication to transforming the parking experience for casinos and entertainment venues,” said Jeff Sparrow, Director of Sales, North America. “We anticipate installation completion in early 2024.”

Their APGS package also includes:

  • LCD Signage: Large LCD displays provide clear, user-friendly information, ensuring a seamless parking experience for all users.
  • Park Alerts: Real-time alerts notify operators when certain vehicles enter the building, including special guests and persons who are banned, if someone parks in a restricted space, or if someone overstays their limited-time space.
  • Park Surveillance: By capturing streaming video when motion is detected or continuously, operators can be on the lookout for suspicious activity in a more efficient way than ever before. Plus, since recordings can be saved up to 90 days, security can easily work with authorities when needed.

AppyWay partners with Connected Kerb to revolutionise electric vehicle charging and parking

October 25, 2023

AppyWay partners with Connected Kerb to revolutionise electric vehicle charging and parking

  • The UK needs to deploy 300,000 more electric vehicle (EV) chargers in the next decade to meet driver demands ahead of the 2035 ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles.
  • AppyWay and Connected Kerb have partnered to transform the way drivers find available EV charging bays and how councils deploy, manage, and monitor charging infrastructure.
  • The partnership includes the integration of Connected Kerb’s charging solution with AppyWay’s The Parking Platform™ real-time bay occupancy and insights.
  • The partnership and integration will empower councils with the information they need to monitor EV charging facilities and plan rollout to scale their decarbonisation and net-zero ambitions.

Tuesday 24th October 2023, London, UK: AppyWay, Europe’s most-awarded intelligent parking and kerbside management company, is excited to announce its strategic partnership with Connected Kerb, an industry-leading provider of electric vehicle charging infrastructure. This collaboration aims to reshape electric vehicle charging and parking solutions, enhancing convenience and accessibility for EV drivers, whilst helping the local governments unlock the insights, they need to meet their net-zero targets.

Through the integration of The Parking Platform™ powered by AppyWay and Connected Kerb’s cutting-edge charging infrastructure, a seamless ecosystem has been created, allowing drivers to effortlessly locate available electric vehicle charging bays. This innovation addresses the “range anxiety” EV drivers find they experience when searching for charging facilities during their journey or at their destination.

For local governments, the solution empowers them with the tools they need to make, monitor and monitise EV charging bays, and provides them with the real-time insights and historical data needed to scale charging infrastructure rollout effectively and seamlessly.

As environmental concerns and government-led initiatives such as the ULEZ expansion continue to drive the adoption of electric vehicles, AppyWay and Connected Kerb’s integration is leading the charge in enabling local governments to meet the charging demands of today’s EV drivers and prepare for the 2035 ban on the sale of new internal combustion engine vehicles.

Dan Hubert, Founder & CEO of AppyWay, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership: “Teaming up with Connected Kerb marks another significant milestone in our mission to help cities decarbonise through innovative technology. The UK is at a pivotal moment in its EV charge point rollout and it’s the decisions that are made today that will impact whether local governments meet their infrastructure targets by 2035. Partnerships such as this are crucial in understanding charging demand and planning rollout in a scalable manner. By integrating The Parking Platform™ with Connected Kerb’s charging solutions, we’re making electric vehicle charging and parking a hassle-free experience for everyone, drivers and local authorities alike.”

Connected Kerb’s Head of Digital, Ben Boutcher-West also shared his excitement: “Our collaboration with AppyWay is a pivotal moment in making electric vehicle charging infrastructure reliable, inclusive and convenient for everyone. Together, we are poised to deliver a hassle-free charging experience for drivers and make it easy for councils to manage and monitor charging infrastructure, while also putting our planet first.”

The partnership between AppyWay and Connected Kerb represents a sizable step towards encouraging and accelerating electric vehicle adoption, and the rollout of charging infrastructure. The integrated solution is already being used by the likes of Coventry City Council and is set to roll out further, ushering in a new era of efficient, convenient, and eco-friendly electric vehicle charging and monitoring.

Connected Kerb

Connected Kerb is one of the UK’s leading electric vehicle charging companies, on a mission to change the world for good – one charge at a time.

Its aim is to make EV charging inclusive, convenient, and reliable for everyone. The company delivers on-street community EV charging and works with local authorities to support residents who are unable to charge at home. Connected Kerb also installs future-proof EV charging infrastructure at workplaces, retail destinations, car parks, commercial real-estate and for residential developers.

As smart cities of the future develop, Connected Kerb’s charge points support Internet of Things (IoT) and other future technologies designed to have a positive impact on people and the planet. The company is committed to the future of sustainable mobility and aims to ensure that no one in the UK lives further than a five-minute walk from a charger.
