Cleverciti: Welcome to Miami!

Cleverciti: Welcome to Miami!

Cleverciti is thrilled to announce our new partnership with the Miami Parking Authority (MPA). Cleverciti will work with the MPA to enable them to improve curb management operations, reduce curb abuse, and create a “white glove” parking experience for drivers.

Effectively managing the curb in the trendy Midtown neighborhood of Miami has become increasingly difficult in recent years. As traffic has increased, so has congestion and curb abuse from all vehicle types. In response, the Miami Parking Authority (MPA) piloted various technologies to help resolve these issues yet struggled to find a comprehensive platform that simultaneously tackled curb abuse, delivered driver guidance, and integrated payment methods with real-time occupancy data to reveal compliance levels.

Fortunately, as the MPA was shaping a revised strategy they learned of the Cleverciti solution implemented in Redwood City, California that solved similar challenges.  In partnership, the teams collaborated on a scalable solution designed to reduce congestion and curb management issues, while enhancing the driver experience for those parking in Midtown.

The initial phase of the MPA plan will concentrate on the heart of Midtown (Buena Vista Blvd, NE 1st Ave between 36thSt and 32nd St) and will include:

  1. 12 Circ 360 Ultras installed at intersections guiding drivers to available spaces.
  2. 43 sensors to monitor the complete curb providing a fully integrated view of payment compliance, occupancy status, and loading zone activity all from the Cleverciti Cockpit.
  3. The Cockpit will equip the MPA with new levels of analytical insights, full reporting features, heatmaps, a live view dashboard, and automated Clever Enforcement alerts to MPA staff to mitigate curb abuses.
  4. The MPA and Cleverciti will share data between systems using the Curb Data Specification (CDS), a digital tool created by the Open Mobility Foundation that helps cities and companies pilot and scale dynamic curb zones. The CDS provides a mechanism for expressing static and dynamic regulations, measuring activity at the curb, and developing policies that create more accessible, useful curbs.

As the project rolls-out, the MPA will use Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure congestion, curb abuse, and payment compliance. Based on project averages across Cleverciti’s global customer base, the MPA anticipates double-digit improvements in each category. Additionally, with access to Cleverciti’s comprehensive parking management platform, the MPA will look to integrate existing technologies to further streamline operations across its portfolio.

Cooperatively, the leadership of the MPA and Cleverciti have committed to finding and sharing answers to elusive curb management questions with the aim of moving the parking, mobility, and transportation industry forward collectively.

SpotHero Eclipses $1 Billion in Parking Reservations Sold, Sets Sights to Further Modernize the Parking Industry

Digital parking leader continues to unlock and expand availability of parking throughout North America

CHICAGO, October 20, 2022—-SpotHero, the digital parking leader in North America, has exceeded $1 billion in parking reservations sold since its founding in 2011. SpotHero’s latest milestone signifies its continued leadership in the market and its commitment to further digitizing the parking industry, making it more affordable and convenient for drivers to find and book parking, and easier for parking operators to effectively manage and more efficiently monetize their parking lots/spaces. The North American parking industry is a $36B marketplace that is currently only two percent digitized.

“We’re extremely proud to celebrate the $1 billion milestone, but SpotHero isn’t stopping here. We see this as a larger opportunity to continue transforming an industry that is lagging in our digital-driven world where we can solve problems for people and parking operators in real-time,” said Mark Lawrence, SpotHero co-founder and CEO. “We don’t need to build or create more parking spaces; we just need a more efficient way of connecting drivers with existing inventory. This allows them space to spend more quality time at their desired destinations instead of circling the block looking for parking. This core focus has led to our growth, success and ongoing approach to innovation.”

The average motorist roams 1.22 miles before they find a place to park, which is why in SpotHero’s 2022 State of Parking Report, the company found that nearly half (48.5%) of all Americans say parking is a source of stress. SpotHero offers a solution to the hassle of finding a parking spot by equipping drivers with an easy-to-use platform. The platform, accessed online or via mobile app, allows drivers to explore affordable parking options near their destination and provides an instant parking pass upon receipt of payment. SpotHero’s consumer and operator-friendly platform has established the company as a leading parking marketplace and helped park more than 40 million cars throughout the United States and Canada.

“There’s a lot of room for growth in the parking industry because it’s one of the few industries where things are still done non-digitally, such as pulling tickets and paying with cash,” said Matt DiBari, Chief Product Officer at SpotHero. “From our SpotHero IQ pricing platform to our Customer Hero service team, we’ve created a product for drivers who demand reliability in where they can park and how much they will pay. We believe there is tremendous opportunity to innovate within this lens and are excited to continue developing new partnerships and forging ahead to make parking easier for our drivers and operator partners.”

Since its founding in 2011, SpotHero has seen an average 145% annual increase in digital parking reservations while partnering with 1600+ operators across more than 300 cities and 8,000 locations. Despite a complete market disruption and freeze in parking due to COVID, the company has seen a significant resurgence in demand across North America, with major U.S. cities including Boston, New York, Chicago and San Francisco surpassing pre-COVID usage levels. Over the next three years, SpotHero aims to significantly grow its impact on the parking industry through investments that will expand its digital capacity with a goal of achieving 20% digitization of parking inventory by 2025.

With over $1 billion in parking reservations sold, SpotHero solidifies its reputation as the most reliable and convenient option for customers across the industry. A key factor of SpotHero’s growth has been a direct result of its commitment and investment to excellent customer service. SpotHero’s Customer Heroes are available 7 days a week to assist drivers with everything from parking reservation cancellations to technical and location-based issues. This customer-centric focus is embodied throughout the company and has led to SpotHero receiving highly favorable customer experience rankings with an average Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 60, Customer Satisfaction Score of 4.44/5 and a Trustpilot score of 4.1, all of which are among the highest scores in the parking industry.

Parking operators have also seen the impact of SpotHero’s commitment to leadership in the industry with over 1600+ operator partnerships across North America. Since 2011, SpotHero has grown its number of parking locations by nearly 30% each year, as more and more operators have recognized the value of SpotHero’s innovative tools and insights. The data SpotHero can provide through SpotHero IQ, the parking industry’s most dynamic pricing tool, allows operators to run their businesses more efficiently and more effectively manage their parking inventory, further driving revenues.

About SpotHero

SpotHero is the digital parking leader and only independent off-street parking marketplace in North America. Millions of drivers use SpotHero’s mobile apps and website to find, book and access off-street parking in over 8,000 locations across 300 cities in the U.S. and Canada. Flowbird Group and NYCDOT Launch New and Improved ParkNYC Mobile Parking App

New App to Service Nearly 2 Million NYC Users

Moorestown, New Jersey – Flowbird Group, the leader in curbside management and urban mobility solutions, launched the ParkNYC app in New York City on October 17th, 2022. The release of the mobile parking app allows motorists to conveniently pay for on-street parking and municipal parking lots using a mobile device. The ParkNYC app positions Flowbird at the heart of the country’s most competitive parking markets.

NYCDOT is proud to bring an improved parking experience to New York City motorists.  Many busy New Yorkers rely on parking across the city, and the new app makes the payment process more convenient and less time consuming,” said Commissioner Ydanis Rodriguez.

The new ParkNYC app, implemented by New York City Department of Transportation (NYCDOT) and operated by Flowbird, extends service to the tens of thousands of parking locations across the five boroughs. Established ParkNYC users’ wallet credits will carry over to the new Flowbird app, providing a seamless transition to the new and improved application. Setting up a new account is quick and simple after the app is downloaded to a mobile device from the App Store or Google Play Store. Accounts can be set up for individual motorists or for businesses to manage their fleets.

The new ParkNYC app in New York City includes a modern and user-friendly interface, featuring the ability to pay as you go for a parking session and the continued ability to pre-load a ParkNYC wallet. Users can check how much time is remaining, choose to receive push notifications when time is about to expire, and extend their time to the maximum limit without returning to their vehicle. All transactions and receipts are saved in the user’s account on the app to be viewed later, if needed.

Flowbird partnered with NYCDOT to design a brand new end-user portal for ParkNYC and to ensure a successful transition to the new app. Flowbird’s elite back-office management suite provides immediate in-depth reporting of all meter and mobile transactions, making it easier than ever to manage the parking system in real time, while making data-driven decisions for the future.

“We are thrilled to expand our long term partnership with NYCDOT and be part of such a world class operation to provide better parking solutions for its residents, visitors, and professionals, focusing on user experience and leveraging our global expertise in mobile technology.” said Benoit Reliquet, President, Flowbird America, “After Paris, Stockholm and Hong Kong, we are delighted to contribute to one of the world’s largest and most vibrant urban tech ecosystems in the City that never sleeps. A special thanks go out to all teams involved.”

Flowbird has been a longstanding partner with NYCDOT since 1993 when the City was one of the first in the United States to implement on-street multi-space parking pay stations. Since then, the City has expanded their contract with Flowbird to include nearly 14,000 solar-powered pay stations managing 80,000 on-street parking spaces.

“National Do Not Disturb While Driving Day” highlights mobile phone setting that saves lives

National Distracted Driving Coalition encourages drivers to Just Turn It On!

WASHINGTON, D.C. — October 17, 2022 — The National Distracted Driving Coalition is promoting Oct. 20, 2022, as National Do Not Disturb While Driving Day to highlight the continuing danger of using a cell phone while driving and educate the public about a feature that can help drivers avoid distraction.

“Distracted driving claimed more than 3,100 lives in 2020 according to government statistics, and we know this is likely a dramatic undercount,” said Bruce Landsberg, Vice Chairman of the National Transportation Safety Board. “Technology is part of the problem but can also be part of the solution. Setting your ‘Do Not Disturb’ function temporarily limits notifications and removes the temptation of checking that distracting device.”

Do Not Disturb While Driving settings are available on both iPhone and Android devices and can be set to automatically engage while driving. Using the phone’s sensors and proximity to known connections to determine if the owner is driving, the feature will temporarily block incoming notifications. Past research has found that only 1 in 5 iPhone users have “Do Not Disturb” set to turn on automatically while driving. That’s likely because many people don’t know that the feature exists, or how it works, and many devices require users to “opt in” rather than choose to turn the setting off.

“Every phone now has this feature. It’s easy to use, and it’s amazingly effective because we’re really bad at resisting the urge to check our devices when we hear a notification,” says Joel Feldman, founder of the Casey Feldman Foundation and “Maybe you’ve checked an incoming text or email a hundred times without anything happening. But it just takes one glance to end a life.”

Supporters are encouraged to use #NationalDNDWD when posting on social media and to spread the word through all available channels, including blogs, op-eds, press releases and company announcements.

The National Distracted Driving Coalition was formed in March 2021 to address distracted driving which is a contributing factor to road deaths and injuries. This road safety issue is a priority concern shared by many organizations across many sectors. A diverse cross-section of entities, representing academia, non-profits, government, advocacy, and industry, including insurance, transportation, automotive and technology, have come together to create a National Action Plan to tackle this important issue. Manufactured exclusively in the U.S., the luminaire reduces glare and offers an impact-resistant optical lens

Brookfield, WI (October 10, 2022) – Optec LED Lighting introduces the OLPG1, a new U.S.- manufactured parking garage luminaire. The OLPG1 Series addresses the common problem of glare by using a flat diffuse lens with indirect lighting, which removes the LEDs from the line of sight without compromising luminaire efficacy or distribution performance. This unique lighting and delivery method demonstrate Optec’s innovative approach to challenging lighting applications.

The OLPG1 is a heavy-duty, stylish, low-profile luminaire with excellent optical performance.

Lighting is delivered via “Light Guide Technology.” Five photometric patterned lenses are available to meet various garage requirements. Enhanced LED life is achieved through efficient thermal coupling and dissipation via the durable pressure die-cast, low copper-alloy aluminum housing. Numerous options are available that include control systems, sensors, mountings, finishes, and other lighting accessories.

Optec’s low-glare OLPG1 luminaire features a circular housing that eliminates alignment issues and, because it is low-profile, this fixture works effectively in low-clearance garages. Designed with a simplified quick-connect mounting bracket for seamless surface or stem-mount installation, the installer has both hands free to make the power feed connections. The sleek, tapered shape minimizes bird nesting, reducing cleaning and maintenance costs. The all-aluminum, pressure die-cast design offers rugged durability – rated IP66 – and excellent thermal dissipation.

“In developing the OLPG1 series, the engineers listened to the issues that are important to parking garage owners and operators, as well as electrical contractors,” said Jerry Luan, owner and CEO Optec LED Lighting. “Besides delivering great light distribution, we know that ease of installation is also critical in reducing project costs,” continued Luan.

The luminaire is designed, engineered, tooled, diecast, manufactured and assembled in Wisconsin. The company also works with many Wisconsin-based companies including PCB board designers, powder coaters and fabricators.

The OLPG1 comes in a wide variety of lumen packages, ranging from 2,700 to 15,000+ (23W to 130W), correlated color temperatures (CCTs) of 3,000K, 3,500K, 4000K and 5000K, and is standard with 80CRI. The fixture includes various warranty options and listed DLC® Standard or Premium.

The OLPG1’s up-light adder delivers approximately 800 Lumens of light to the garage ceiling. This beautiful soft up-light provides an even array of light that eliminates the challenging cave effect common in parking structures. The new luminaire offers plenty of room for optional customized control(s) systems, sensors, battery back-ups, and several other options.
