Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute Announces 2024 PCI Design Awards Winners
CHICAGO, January 9, 2024 –The Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute (PCI) is pleased to announce the winners of the 2024 PCI Design Awards. Projects as diverse as a groundbreaking office building in South Dakota, a temple in Utah, and an innovative replacement bridge in Maryland were among 19 winners in thespecials, buildings, and transportation categories; there were also 15 honorable mentions.
For 61 years, the PCI Design Awards program has showcased and recognized creative and innovative uses of precast concrete. Panels of engineers, architects, and precast concrete producers judge all submittals. The buildings and transportation categories are judged on aesthetic, structural, and use versatility; site, energy and operational efficiency, and risk reduction; and resiliency, such as structure durability, multi-hazard protection, and life safety and health.
Several projects are also honored with special awards. These are judged on similar criteria to the building and transportation projects, as well as additional requirements, including industry advancement, sustainabledesign, technology, and designs using all-precast concrete solutions. These are the Harry H. Edwards Industry Advancement Award, the Building Information Modeling (BIM) Award, the Sustainable Design Award, and the All-Precast Concrete Solution Award.
“This year again proved how exceptional precast concrete projects are, what the precast concrete industry has achieved, and how it will continue to advance and enhance the built environment,” said PCI President and CEO Bob Risser, P.E. “The judges this year were incredibly impressed by the quality of each submission and the amount of care that went into creating a story for each project. Judges had a difficult time determining the winners. Congratulations to all the project teams that showcase what our members are capable of producing.”
|Winning projects will be recognized on February 9 at the 2024 PCI Convention in Denver, Colo. PCI publications, including Ascent, PCI Journal, and ASPIRE magazines, will also feature the winning projects.
