New Server-Based Solution Transforms Security Center Supported Video Surveillance Camera into License Plate Recognition Device

MONTREAL, April 16th, 2018Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a leading technology provider of unified security, public safety, operations, and business intelligence solutions has unveiled AutoVu Flexreader™, a new offering that brings powerful ALPR (Automatic License Plate Recognition) capabilities to suitable IP video surveillance cameras supported by the Genetec™ Security Centerunified platform.

AutoVu Flexreader enables organizations to move beyond simple plate capture and use existing IP cameras to identify and track license plates of vehicles entering or leaving their premises. End users can additionally benefit by extending their security operations—especially for businesses and retailers—to access the full ALPR feature set of Security Center AutoVu™, and take advantage of valuable data-mining tools and graphical reports.

“In the past, customers who wanted to take advantage of the unified ALPR experience offered by Security Center had to use dedicated ALPR units, which provided more capabilities than necessary for certain applications,” said Robert Amante, AutoVu Product Manager at Genetec. “With AutoVu Flexreader, we are making it easier for customers to take advantage of the deep feature set AutoVu provides. Now, they can re-use their existing security infrastructure equipment to augment their system with ALPR in a cost-effective manner. Interested customers should request a demo to ensure AutoVu Flexreader meets the requirements of their application,” added Amante.

For security professionals, AutoVu Flexreader can help identify potential threats as soon as they appear by automatically identifying vehicles entering a facility and match them to existing hotlists. With the flexible list management features of Security Center AutoVu, unknown or suspect vehicles can trigger specific alarms and activate video surveillance recording to help decrease response time and support investigations.

AutoVu Flexreader can also automate processes to improve efficiency. The system can open vehicle gates and garage doors when the vehicle of an employee or registered visitor is detected, or instantly notify staff of the arrival of suppliers and visiting VIPs. It can also provide security professionals with complete vehicle audit trails, including license plate number, date, time, coordinates, license plate origin, and associated videos to support investigations.

For retail organizations and other businesses with ungated parking lots, AutoVu Flexreader unlocks new business intelligence insights in the behavior of vehicles and visitors accessing their facilities. Using data collected by the cameras, AutoVu Flexreader can track who is accessing a facility and when, monitor repeat visits, measure length of stay, and more.

AutoVu Flexreader is expected to be available worldwide in April 2018 through any Genetec AutoVu certified integrator. For more information please visit: https://resources.genetec.com/en-datasheets/autovu-flexreader-datasheet.

Genetec Announces AutoVu Motoscan—Ultra-Efficient Scooter-Mounted On-Street Parking Enforcement Solution

Genetec Announces AutoVu Motoscan—Ultra-Efficient Scooter-Mounted On-Street Parking Enforcement Solution

Company to Unveil Motoscan at the Parkopolis Expo and Conference in Paris, June 21 & 22 2017

MONTREAL, June 15th 2017—Genetec Inc. (“Genetec”), a leading provider of open architecture security and public safety solutions will unveil Genetec AutoVu™ Motoscan, a new scooter-mounted on-street parking enforcement solution at this year’s Parkopolis (on the Copperpark booth # E11 9 pavilion 5.1 and the Indigo Park booth # C13 pavilion 5.1).

Designed to help increase parking enforcement efficiency in the traditionally narrow streets of European cities, Motoscan is a lightweight, low-power, yet fully-featured license plate recognition unit that is designed to be easily mounted on a smaller vehicle such as a scooter or small motorbike. Equipped with specialized ANPR cameras mounted on the scooter, the AutoVu Motoscan system automatically scans license plates and sends back the information to the parking authorities’ back-end system which will identify parking violations and issue tickets, as required.

“Managing parking in a city is not an easy task, but it’s particularly challenging for many European cities with narrow, busy streets. We have designed Motoscan to bring all the features of our state of the art AutoVu ANPR (Automated Number Plate Recognition) system, in a small, compact unit that can be easily mounted on a scooter or small motorbike, without compromising the balance and stability of the vehicle,” said Chris Yigit, Product Line Manager, Genetec Inc.

The Motoscan unit is compact, measuring just 50Wx39Dx30H cm (19.7×15.2×12 in). It combines all critical components onto a single device to keep the weight low.

“At less than 15 kg, the Motoscan consumes less power than a 40-watt light bulb, allowing it to be powered on appropriate scooters without additional batteries, and function for as long as there is a fuel in the tank,” added Yigit.

The main unit is designed to meet the demanding automotive environment, making it able to withstand a broad range of harsh vibrations, weather and road conditions, including cobblestones, bumpy streets and smooth pavement.

In spite of its small form factor, Motoscan packs plenty of state-of the-art mobile ANPR features: this single, powerful ANPR solution automatically captures and reads thousands of license plates per shift. Thanks to the AutoVu SharpX ANPR high-resolution cameras included with the unit, Motoscan will offer consistent performance day and night and in all weather conditions. It can accurately decipher plate numbers on vehicles parked in parallel, at 45° or 90°, and can even read dirty or obstructed plates. The unit is also equipped with ruggedized built-in wireless technology to ensure real time communication with third-party parking management companies.

In order to avoid distracting the driver, Motoscan features an active manual controller instead of a screen. Located on the steering bar, the controller features toggle switches and LED lights to inform the driver of the functioning state of system. The data collected by the ANPR camera is automatically sent to a central location, and there is no need for the driver to interact with the controls, making it simpler and safer to operate.

Backed by 20 years of technological innovation, Genetec AutoVu provides an accurate, reliable and easy-to-use ANPR solution for municipal parking enforcement. Already successfully piloted in a major city in Belgium, AutoVu Motoscan is expected to be available in Q3 2017 from certified Genetec AutoVu resellers in Europe. Genetec Inc. Announces Updated Release of AutoVu Managed Services

Automatic License Plate Recognition Managed Service Removes the Need for On-Premises IT Infrastructure and Management, Allowing Customers to Focus on Parking and Enforcement

MONTRÉAL, May 11th 2016 – Genetec Inc. (Genetec), a leading provider of open-architecture, unified IP security solutions today announced the latest update of AutoVu™ Managed Services (AMS), a turnkey Automatic License Plate Recognition (ALPR) solution that allows parking customers to outsource their IT hardware and management requirements to Genetec. AutoVu Managed Services leverages the cloud to offer end-users independence from on-premises storage, IT management and depreciation costs, and can now accommodate larger fleets of patrol vehicles with support for fixed LPR cameras, addressing end-user requests. AutoVu is offered as part of Genetec™ Security Center, the company’s unified IP security platform that combines access control, video surveillance and ALPR.

Genetec will demonstrate AutoVu Managed Services for the first time at the upcoming IPI Parking Show in Nashville, TN (May 17th-20th) on booth # 215 along with its full catalog of AutoVu parking and law enforcement cameras, systems and services. AutoVu Managed Services is expected to be available in mid-May from Genetec AutoVu channel and sales partners.

“With the responsibility of managing parking for the City of Richmond, we were having to host and maintain our own servers on premises, which, after troubleshooting, we found were only performing 55% of the time. We also had frustrating performance lag and regularly occurring internal IT conflicts,” said Javon Barner, On-Street Parking Enforcement Manager at the City of Richmond, Virginia. “After we became an early-adopter for AutoVu Managed Services, Genetec took over to manage all parking services and storage needs remotely, resulting almost immediately in a 99% uptime, and working flawlessly ever since. We regularly email our permit and scofflaw lists to Genetec, and within five minutes, everything is up to date. AutoVu Managed Services allows us to focus on parking, while Genetec experts handle the technology,” added Barner.

“We created AutoVu Managed Services specifically for customers who are challenged by cost, server space limitations and management of on premises hardware and IT support issues,” said Chris Yigit, Business Development Manager at Genetec. “AutoVu Managed Services offers our customers the most flexible way to focus on what they do best; manage on-site parking enforcement. With the AutoVu ALPR system hosted in the cloud, configuration and maintenance are entrusted to Genetec technicians, for easy deployment, management and support,” continued Yigit.
