(HOUSTON, TX – July 28, 2017) WGI is pleased to announce that Jacob Gonzalez, PE joined the firm’s Parking Solutions Division in its new partner, Carl Walker, a division of WGI. Jacob, as Vice President-Parking Solutions, will remain in Houston, leveraging contacts and experience accumulated during an almost 20-year career that included 18 years at a national consulting firm, where he grew from an engineer and parking consultant, to leader of its Prime PM team, and ultimately Director of Parking. Jacob also spent nine months as Managing Principal of a parking specialty firm’s Houston office.

 

Moving forward, Jacob will utilize his experience by working collaboratively with WGI’s Carl Walker Texas group – also taking on the responsibility of collaborating with CW’s team to cross-sell WGI’s services in Texas.
“I’m excited to grow the combined WGI/Carl Walker presence here, and assist the Parking Solutions team to establish Parking and Restoration services in the Florida market and nationally,” he says.

Jacob’s additional expertise includes master planning, parking technology, and integrated parking design with an extensive portfolio of healthcare, special event, transit centers and mixed-use projects. He is a registered PE in multiple states (Texas, Florida, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Kansas), and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from University of Houston.

He is the author of multiple articles and a design manual, as well as an active member of the International Parking Association, National Parking Association, American Society for Healthcare Engineers, Parking Consultant’s Council, and Texas Parking and Transportation Association, where he is a board member serving as treasurer. Jacob’s recent recognitions include 2015 Engineering New-Record/ Texas & Louisiana, Top 20 Under 40; 2015 Top 10 Rising Stars in Civil + Structural Engineering; IMPACT Award for Community from the National Association of Industrial and Office Properties; and Impact Southern Nevada for the 500 South Main garage.

WGI Structures Continued Growth; Firm Acquires Carl Walker, Inc.

 

 

(West Palm Beach, FL – June 26, 2017) Design, planning, and surveying firm WGI is pleased to announce it joined forces with award-winning parking consulting and structural engineering provider Carl Walker, Inc. (Carl Walker). The move creates a 12th business division for WGI, now a national consulting firm with offices in Florida, Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, North Carolina, and Texas.

 

The transaction closes on June 30, 2017, according to David Wantman, PE, president and CEO of WGI.

Gary Cudney, PE, president and CEO, and all Carl Walker principals, executives, and associates, will continue in their current roles, ensuring a smooth transition for both Carl Walker clients and staff. The firm was founded in 1983 in Kalamazoo, MI, by H. Carl Walker, PE, considered one of the originators in the design of long-span, prestressed modern-day parking garages, and is now a highly esteemed leader in delivering superior value parking solutions. Carl Walker specializes in the creative planning and design of sustainable parking structures, supported by the rapidly changing automation technology transforming its marketplace. CARL WALKER, INC. ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS OF KEY STAFF

 

May 16, 2016 Carl Walker, Inc. (Carl Walker), a nationally recognized consultant in the parking industry, is proud to announce recent promotions.

 

Patrick Martin, P.E., has been promoted to Senior Vice President, Restoration. In his role, Martin oversees the Restoration Service Sector providing oversight of production, QA/QC, and marketing and sales efforts. Martin has more than 15 years of extensive experience in the evaluation and repair of various structures, including development of maintenance and repair programs, lifecycle cost analysis, due diligence review as well as structural strengthening, carbon fiber design, retrofits, plaza restoration and façade restoration.

Bill Mahler, AIA, has been promoted to Principal in the Chicago office. Mahler also serves as the Restoration Manager for the Chicago regional office and is responsible for managing and completing projects involving the evaluation and restoration of existing building facades, parking structures, and plazas. Mahler has over 30 years of experience and has been a valuable member of the Carl Walker team for over 10 years, providing outstanding service to our clients on numerous restoration and parking projects in the midwest.

Andrew Kong, P.E., has been promoted to Senior Project Manager, in the Charlotte office. Kong is involved with the implementation of structural/restoration engineering projects in the Southeast Region of the United States, utilizing a diverse set of management skills to improve project efficiency, processes, and coordination through strategic planning and teaming.

Greg Ehmke, P.E., has been promoted to Project Manager for New Parking Design. Ehmke provides structural design and detailing of new concrete, steel, and masonry parking structures. He also has experience in the evaluation, restoration and modification of existing parking structures

Dan Elliott, P.E. and Troy Testerman, P.E., have been promoted to Project Manager for the Restoration Service Sector. Elliott, in the Kalamazoo office, and Testerman, in the Cleveland office, provide structural evaluations and analysis of existing parking structures, design of various repair options, including the application of fiber reinforced polymers (FRP), estimating repair costs, preparation of construction documents, and construction administration.

Matt Blankenberger and Josh Perry have been promoted to Design Engineer II. Both Blankenberger and Perry are responsible for new parking structure detailing of concrete, steel, and masonry, and structural design.

Laura Culver, previously Business Development Coordinator, has been promoted to Marketing Manager, Laura oversees corporate marketing and is responsible for developing the marketing strategy and plan, researching external opportunities, understanding current and potential customers, and overseeing the general marketing and promotion of the firm.

Carl Walker operates seven offices nationwide that specialize in parking planning, parking structure design and the restoration of parking structures, plazas and facades.
