Phoenix, AZ   —  The Phoenix Convention Center has installed one of the fastest, most advanced Level 2 EV Charging Stations on the market in the East Garage in partnership with Blink Charging Co. (NASDAQ: BLNK, BLNKW) (“Blink Charging” or the “Company”). The garage has six smart Blink units and a kiosk unit to initiate the charge. The upgrade of these EV charging stations is part of the convention center’s commitment to sustainability.

Phoenix Convention Center boasts comprehensive sustainability practices encompassing multiple aspects of business and operations: composting and recycling, smart water usage, sustainable product and sourcing, reducing travel impacts, using alternative energy sources, and supporting local partnerships. Supporting EV drivers by providing Blink charging stations further showcases the convention center’s commitment to their travel light project which also includes direct access to the facility from PHX Sky Harbor airport via the METRO Light Rail.

The Blink units are the fastest Level 2 AC charging stations offered, allowing EV drivers to receive a fast charge for their vehicle. These units were selected in part, due to their ease of use to the EV driver, the integration with the Blink network, and the technology and innovation of the product’s smart-to-kiosk configuration. The six units are controlled by one central kiosk unit providing the convention center with cost efficiencies without disrupting ease of use for drivers. Phoenix EV drivers will now benefit from the new Blink equipment with an intuitive touch screen, faster charge rates, and a longer 25ft charging cord. Blink will also be providing new signage for the charging stations alerting drivers of where the equipment is located and how to start a charge for their EV.

Blink, the Phoenix Convention Center, and the City of Phoenix have a history in providing EV charging stations to visitors of the facility. Six charging stations were first installed at the convention center in 2012.

PowerCharge Launches New Line of Electric Vehicle
Charging Stations for Residential Use

Rush, NY—  Tuesday, July 31, 2018 —  PowerCharge, a division of Moser Services Group, LLC, announced the release of the “Energy Series” of electric vehicle charging stations for residential use earlier this week. This follows the successful launch of the “Pro Series” line of commercial charging stations in the Spring of 2017.

“We continue to identify the needs of our customers, so we have introduced a slim and durable charger designed for residential use” stated Mike Moser, the president of PowerCharge. ”The unit has a simple plug-in installation and can easily be mounted on a garage wall or a pedestal near a parking space.”

The Energy Series includes two residential models. The Standard ‘Energy’ model is a simple plug and charge station, while the ‘Connect’ model links to the PowerCharge phone app using the home’s WiFi. The ‘Connect’ model offers progressive features like; charge status reporting, remote on/off switch, scheduled charging, and power consumption reporting.

“Most charging stations in the EV (electric vehicle) space can be fairly large and require a designated area to be installed” added Moser. “With theEnergy Series, the product is smaller than an 8.5”x 11” sheet of paper, has simple plug-in installation and is outdoor rated, so it can be installed almost anywhere.”

Carefully listening to the needs of electric vehicle drivers, PowerCharge developed a powerful feature set for the Energy Series. All models are up to six times faster than the standard 110-volt plug, delivering up to twenty miles of driving range for every hour of charge time and are UL-listed meeting safety criteria for use throughout North America. With an adjustable output (3.8kW, 5.8kW and 7.6kW), the ideal power level can be matched to work with the owner’s supply panel, electric vehicle and the driver’s needs. A 25-foot cable is standard, the longest allowed while meeting UL safety standards.

Moser adds “the electric vehicle market will continue to grow, and designing cutting-edge equipment that fits the lifestyle of the driver will help fuel its acceptance.”

ABB makes a gift of 30 fast-charging stations to the people of Zurich

On the occasion of its 30th anniversary, technology group ABB has made a gift to the people of Zurich of 30 fast-charging stations for sustainable emobility. The gift was accepted on behalf of the people of Zurich by Mayor Corine Mauch and City Councilor

“We look forward to working together with the city of Zurich – the home and heart of ABB – to shape the future of sustainable mobility,” said ABB CEO Ulrich Spiesshofer. “We already have more than 7,000 fast charging stations installed worldwide. As the global market leader in e-mobility, we are extremely pleased to expand this base by 30 stations today, and in doing so to actively support Zurich’s journey to sustainable and eco-friendly mobility. Zurich has always been a pioneer of urban e-mobility. We consider it an honor to be able to further this pioneering spirit with our leading technology solutions.”

ABB, formed in 1988 from the merger of Sweden’s ASEA and Switzerland’s BBC, has long had a close relationship with Zurich, which is home to the company’s headquarters. ABB employs 135,000 people in more than 100 countries.

Speaking on the occasion, Mayor Mauch of Zurich said: “I am delighted to accept this gift on behalf of the people of Zurich. It’s a farsighted gift that takes the city of Zurich another step forward in e-mobility.” City Councilor Michael Baumer observed: “E-mobility has a lot of untapped potential for the future of transport in cities like Zurich. We plan to leverage that potential and will support ABB in choosing locations and operators for these charging stations.”

The efficiency, versatility and cost-effectiveness of the Terra 54 fast-charging stations from ABB make them ideal for use in an urban setting. They are capable of charging not only electric cars, but also buses and trucks within a brief time span to add range of 100 to 300 kilometers.

The selection process for suitable locations for the 30 fast-charging stations is already under way. The aim is to place them in central, publicly accessible locations in the city and in the surrounding area. One of ABB’s Swiss predecessor companies, “Maschinenfabrik Oerlikon”, electrified Zurich’s very first tramline in 1894. Today, the company offers charging technologies for electric cars, buses and trucks, as well as solutions for the electrification of ships, railways and cable cars. ABB is the global market leader in sustainable e-mobility infrastructure, covering the entire value chain of charging infrastructure – from integrating renewable energy into a robust grid to the installation of charging stations.

ABB (ABBN: SIX Swiss Ex) is a pioneering technology leader in electrification products, robotics and motion, industrial automation and power grids, serving customers in utilities, industry and transport & infrastructure globally. Continuing a history of innovation spanning more than 130 years, ABB today is writing the future of industrial digitalization with two clear value propositions: bringing electricity from any power plant to any plug and automating industries from natural resources to finished products. As title partner of Formula E, the fully electric international FIA motorsport class, ABB is pushing the boundaries of e-mobility to contribute to a sustainable future. ABB operates in more than 100 countries with about 135,000 employees. www.abb.com
