HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (August 27, 2019): Code Blue Corporation once again will be returning as a sponsor for National Campus Safety Awareness Month (NCSAM) this September.

During NCSAM, Clery Center will partner with colleges, universities and other organizations to provide professional development opportunities that address the background of certain campus safety areas and strategies for talking about those areas with campus community members.

“For more than 30 years, student safety has been at the core of Code Blue’s mission and it remains a top priority today,” Code Blue Director of Distribution Katie Petre said. “We are proud to continue our support of Clery Center and the vital work it does to raise awareness on college campuses around the nation.”

NCSAM was unanimously approved by Congress in 2008 to encourage a public conversation on important topics in violence prevention at the nation’s colleges and universities. In 2018, more than 500 individuals from 409 colleges participated in NCSAM’s free webinar series, with access to additional tools and resources.

Clery Center is a national non-profit organization focused on promoting college and university campus safety through education, awareness, policy, and prevention initiatives.

“This year’s theme of ‘Bridging the Gap’ focuses on connecting theory to practice in areas campuses often find confusing or challenging,” said Laura Egan, Clery Center Senior Director of Programs. “Through providing subject matter experts across the field in our webinars and hands-on resources like our flowcharts and tools, Clery Center highlights the questions that need answers and provides applicable ways to put the answers into practice.”

Code Blue Celebrates 30 Years of Safety And Security

HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (March 19, 2019): Code Blue Corporation’s No. 1 goal in the future remains the same as it was on our first day: Your safety.

Founded in 1989, Code Blue is pleased to be celebrating its 30th anniversary as the industry leading manufacturer of emergency communication solutions.

Code Blue was founded when the University of Illinois at Chicago selected our new signature design from several candidates for a project that involved the installation of security standards on campus. From there, the trademarked cylindrical pedestal that is now commonly known as the “Blue Light Emergency Phone” was born, and it remains a security standard at thousands of education, corporate, hospital, airport and municipal locations around the world.

“Our goal remains the same for the future: provide increased levels of flexibility, scalability and interoperability without sacrificing the reliability and durability that is synonymous with the Code Blue brand,” CEO David Cook said. “We want to use our 30 years of experience to help locations continue to enjoy the value of safety and security.”

Over the years, Code Blue has greatly expanded its product line to adapt to the shifting technological landscape. That includes embracing the popularity of IP technology, which can be seen in Centry®, our newest Help Point® that integrates an IP color camera into the faceplate.

It’s the latest in a long line of moves designed to strengthen Code Blue’s position in the security industry and advance with the ever-changing needs of its customers. In 1997, for example, Code Blue developed its first hands-free analog emergency speakerphone, and in 2010 launched its IP speakerphone line. The ToolVox® Media Gateway made its debut in 2009, while Blue Alert® MNS (Mass Notification System) was released in 2013.

Code Blue Introduces Powerful New EmerComm® Technology

Code Blue Introduces Powerful New EmerComm® Technology

HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (March 28, 2017): When does an emergency phone evolve into something more?  For Code Blue Corporation, the industry pioneering manufacturer of emergency communication solutions, it begins with rethinking how the device functions and interacts with other systems from the ground up.

With the rollout of EmerComm®, an all-new device operating system, Code Blue is challenging the idea of what an emergency communication product can be. With advanced security and functionality, EmerComm brings intelligence to the edge by giving emergency phones and other communication devices the capabilities of a full computer. This means creating a system that views its platform as an agnostic system of sensors and indicators, with phone functionality just one of the many layers it is capable of managing.

“The Internet of Things provides tremendous potential for innovation and growth, but as we have seen in the consumer marketplace there remains a deep security issue that safety devices must overcome,” CEO David Cook said. “With EmerComm®, Code Blue is building what might be called the Emergency Communication of Things (ECoT), a platform that provides our customers with the same kind of flexibility and durability that they receive from our Help Points®.”

Using this new operating system, Code Blue will be able to offer new products that provide a wide range of applications and functionality. EmerComm® will be available in select models beginning this summer, with a larger rollout coming in 2018.  For a sneak preview of some of the devices powered by EmerComm®, visit Code Blue at Booth #12101 at ISC West on April 5-7, 2017 in Las Vegas.

Code Blue’s Carol Wheeler Receives Prestigious STEP Ahead Award

HOLLAND, MICHIGAN (March 1, 2017): Code Blue Corporation is excited to announce that Carol Wheeler, the Director of Engineering & Operations, will be receiving a Women in Manufacturing STEP (Science, Technology, Engineering and Production) Ahead Award from The Manufacturing Institute. The STEP Ahead Awards honor women who have demonstrated excellence and leadership in their careers and represent all levels of the manufacturing industry, from the factory-floor to the C suite.

“Carol was deservedly nominated for the many years she has devoted to Code Blue as a director, colleague and friend, and for her role in helping the company get to where it is today,” Code Blue CEO David Cook said. “While Carol is far too humble to take credit for her hard work, I am more than happy to see her honored for her extensive contributions.”

A member of the Code Blue team since 1998, Carol Wheeler has experience leading several diverse departments, including engineering, purchasing, materials and operations. With nearly three decades of experience in manufacturing, she has compiled a multifaceted resume that includes previous positions in the automotive and appliance industries.

On April 20, The Manufacturing Institute will recognize 130 recipients of the STEP Ahead Awards at a reception in Washington, D.C. The STEP Ahead Awards program will highlight each honoree’s story, including their leadership and accomplishments in manufacturing.

“These 130 women are the faces of exciting careers in manufacturing,” said Jennifer McNelly, executive director, The Manufacturing Institute. “We chose to honor these women because they each made significant achievements in manufacturing through positive impact on their company and the industry as a whole.”

The STEP Ahead Awards are part of the larger STEP Ahead initiative, launched to examine and promote the role of women in the manufacturing industry through recognition, research, and leadership for attracting, advancing, and retaining strong female talent.

A recent survey from Deloitte and The Manufacturing Institute found that six out of 10 open skilled production positions are unfilled due to the talent shortage. Closing the skills gap means closing the gender gap.

The Manufacturing Institute is the 501(c)(3) affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers. As a non-partisan organization, the Institute is committed to delivering leading-edge information and services to the nation’s manufacturers. The Institute is the authority on the attraction, qualification and development of world-class manufacturing talent. For more information, visit www.themanufacturinginstitute.org.
