RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a $275,000.00 contract to provide a refurbished 40-foot Gillig transit bus for Lane Transit District (Lane Transit).

“Operating a refurbish bus reflects the district’s commitment to sustainability and to responsibly steward the tax dollars it receives from the community,” said Aurora Jackson, Lane Transit’s General Manager. “We look forward to a CCW refurbished 40-foot Gillig safely and comfortably transporting riders commuting aboard the LTD sponsored Diamond Express to and from Oakridge, as well as the rest of the metro area.”

By purchasing a remanufactured bus, Lane Transit will receive a fully renovated bus for abouthalf the cost of a new bus. The bus will be equipped with a Cummins ISL Recon engine and rebuilt Allison B400R transmission. CCW is performing a multitude of specialized services to the bus, such as an upgrade to the bus cooling system, with the installation of a new all-electric cooling package. Other services CCW is providing includes replacing of suspension components, replacing of all wear items, installing new floors, rebuilding windows, and updating all original lighting to a modern LED system.

The refurbished Gillig transit bus will be a welcome reliable addition to Lane Transit’s fleet. Choosing a refurbished bus is a highly economical choice for managing fleet age as it relates to ridership growth. “It is a privilege working with Lane Transit. We are confident that they will be very proud of their new refurbished bus,” stated Regional Manager of CCW, Jim Paul.

Complete Coach Works Develops its Largest Electric Bus Battery Capacity

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW), a leading innovator in heavy-duty electric transportation, announced today that they now offer an optional 466 kWh onboard energy storage system.

CCW increased its Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) battery pack in order to increase power and range. Currently, there are more than 50 ZEPS buses deployed in service across the nation with over 3 million revenue miles. These deployments have been proven to perform successfully in all types of weather conditions.

IndyGo and Indy Airport operate 30 ZEPS buses for its day-to-day operations. The City of McAllen Transit Department utilizes two ZEPS buses to operate out of the city’s International Transit Terminal where passengers can connect for several international, national, regional and intercity destinations.

Brad Carson, CCW’s Director of Sales and Marketing, says, “the increase in energy capacity is exciting for this technology. We were able to keep the battery pack light which improves vehicle reliability and efficiency. Our company is committed to providing the transit industry with the most advanced technology and this upgrade will give agencies the extended range they need on a single charge.”

Using advanced lithium ion batteries and liquid cooled all-electric drive systems, the unmatched performance of ZEPS delivers a significantly longer operating range while maintaining battery life. Other features include a Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor that provides maximum torque at the start and a smooth acceleration profile.

The ZEPS saga started as an option to provide customers a clean, cost-effective, and viable alternative to fossil fuel. Working with its sister company Transit Sales International, CCW developed its own system by taking an existing low floor transit bus and rebuilt it as a battery electric bus. The resulting ZEPS bus offers economical options to bus operators looking to start an electric bus operation. Operators can opt to purchase newly refurbished buses from CCW’s inventory or have their existing fleet converted to all-electric.

Electric vehicles are revolutionizing the transportation industry. CCW hopes to extend the revolution in the transit fleet market by offering a higher capacity 466 kWh energy storage system. ZEPS maintains its status as the industry’s lightest electric battery system that can extend driving range and reduce environmental impacts.

CCW’s commitment to sustainability has enabled it to assist numerous transit agencies in their pursuit of preserving the planet for future generations. CCW looks forward to helping more agencies go all-electric to save money, save fuel, and save the world!

Complete Coach Works provides Cost-Effective Solution to Newly Adopted California Mandate for Mass Transit Agencies to go Electric

Complete Coach Works provides Cost-Effective Solution to Newly Adopted California Mandate for Mass Transit Agencies to go Electric

Recently, Complete Coach Works (CCW) announced it was awarded a contract by Montebello Bus Lines (MBL) for the electrification and rehabilitation of three New Flyer buses.

MBL’s decision to remove the now defunct ISE gas hybrid system and convert to Zero Emission Propulsion System (ZEPS) buses was a positive step toward its goal of improving the quality of public transportation for its residents and surrounding communities.

Developed exclusively by CCW, ZEPS is an integrated technology that provides customers an affordable route to eco-friendly transportation. CCW takes previously used, internal combustion engine buses and remanufactures them into like-new vehicles containing ZEPS all-electric drivetrain systems. The remanufactured ZEPS buses are rebuilt with lightweight flooring, lightweight seats, lightweight windows, and energy-efficient heating and cooling. It can integrate with any fleet and provide a viable alternative to fossil fuels meeting the needs of our clients’ green initiatives.

The process of remanufacturing will improve the service life of the bus and reduce material waste, resulting in operational savings that benefit the environment. These buses will help America in its continued leadership in clean energy and also places MBL well on its way to complying with the new regulation that will be put into effect in the near future.

According to an article published in the New York Times, California has become the first state to mandate a full shift to electric buses on public transit routes. Starting in 2023, a quarter of agencies’ acquired buses must be electric, and by 2026 that requirement will rise to half of all acquired buses. By 2029, mass transit agencies in California will only be allowed to buy buses that are fully electric under a rule adopted by the state’s powerful clean air agency.

Complete Coach Works (CCW) is the largest U.S. bus remanufacturing and rehabilitation company and the leading provider of a vast array of transportation solutions with over 30 years of dedicated service in the transportation industry. Complete Coach Works Awarded Contract by OCTA to Furnish and Install up to 484 Bike Racks and 73 Spare Units

RIVERSIDE, CA – Complete Coach Works (CCW) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a contract with Orange County Transportation Authority (OCTA) to furnish and install up to 484 three-position bike racks and 73 spare units.

Alternative modes of transportation have become popular in order to decrease automobile use and reduce emissions. To keep up with this growing trend, municipalities are changing their infrastructure to better accommodate cyclists. By upgrading to a three-position bike rack, OCTA will be able to offer more rack space to cyclists interested in using public transportation to supplement their commute.

Upgrading to a three-position bike rack allows agencies to enhance their existing mounting systems without the expense of a complete replacement. The new racks are fabricated from stainless steel to prevent corrosion and reduce overall maintenance costs. The bike rack will also allow cyclists to load and unload their bikes with ease which increases safety and reduces interference with bus route schedules.

CCW is excited to support OCTA’s efforts to encourage cycling as an alternative mode of transportation. Kevin O’Brien, General Sales Manager at CCW, states, “Prioritizing the needs of our clients is a core part of our company philosophy. We are proud to partner with an agency who values their customers as much as we do.
