Organisation of the Year – EasyPark wins top Australian Industry Parking Award

EasyPark has been recognized by the Australian Parking Industry as the 2023 Organisation of the Year.

The Award is recognition for EasyPark’s rapid growth during an incredibly busy 18 months in which the Cities of Melbourne, Canberra and Perth andmany others, adopted the EasyPark Digital Parking Solutions including the award winning Pay via Phone for parking App as an alternative to parkingmeters and also the introduction of ticketless digital permits.

Over the last 8 years more than 70 Councils and Parking Operators across the country have introduced EasyPark Pay via Phone for parking and Digital Permit Solutions.

More than 3.1 Million Australians have downloaded the EasyPark App to dateand there are close to 100 000 new downloads each month. EasyPark was the38th* most downloaded app on the app store in September 2023!

EasyPark CEO Eli Grossinger Binshtok said receiving the industry’s top accolade at the prestigious Parking Industry Awards event, inSydney was reward for the team’s determination to make the parking experience easier for clients (councils and parking operators) and ourcustomers (end users).

“The best compliment that we get is that EasyPark is – Easy.

“People say it is easy to use and we are easy to do business with. But, as we all know, it’s not that easy to make it easy. We worked very hardbehind the scenes to achieve this outcome for our clients and customers and for this I thank our wonderful team who show great effort andcommitment every day to build this amazing organisation to make it easy for everyone else.

“We strive to go above and beyond and deliver WOW in everything we do, both internally and externally. Now for us this is a WOW moment in the history of our company.”

The EasyPark Pay via Phone App is the most used in Australia (in fact it is the most used service of its kind globally). EasyPark was established inAustralia in 2012 and has grown to become the leading Pay via Phone/App for parking service. Our 3.1 Million customers are able to use theEasyPark service in almost every State and Territory in Australia.

Beyond our shores the wider EasyPark Group has a similar growth trajectory with rapid expansion in Europe and the US. Collectively thereare now more than 80 million EasyPark App customers in over 25 countries and nearing 4,000 cities. And these numbers continue to grow rapidly asEasyPark expands.

The EasyPark App enables drivers to control their parking. Vehicle owners set their start and end time from their mobile device, and if their meeting, appointment or catch up finishes early or overruns, they simply change the timings from their phone, without having to return to the car. Unlikesome apps which are pre-loaded with money, EasyPark users only pay for the exact time they use and on the day that they use the service.

EasyPark General Manager Craig Logan said more and more Councils and Commercial Parking Operators are adopting the EasyPark digital parking services to reduce and replace physical parking meters and old outdated parking permit systems.

“Increasingly, digital options for parking are being adopted. Cloud based technology-led solutions are always the latest and most up to date, and are easily integrated with other cloud-based solutions.

“The 3G network, which many physical parking meters still utilise for communications and payment processing, will be cut off next year, and as a result, Councils and Parking Operators are considering additional digital payment options, including EasyPark as a viable alternative to upgrading their entire fleet of aging on-street parking meters.

“This Award not only reflects the amazing work from our team over the last 12 to 18 months, but it also reinforces our goal of growing the companyand consolidating our position as the market leader in digital parking solutions,” Mr Logan said.

EasyPark was also the Finalist for Outstanding Customer Service and Arjun Nambiar was named Finalist for the Young Achiever Award.

“The Australian Parking Industry is full of very dedicated hard working people and as a result is a very competitive but genial industry. This year’sAwards event was well attended and a great opportunity to come together, mix and discuss potential integrations, collaborations and partnerships allgeared toward providing great choice for clients.

“We would like to thank the CEO and the entire board of Parking Australia and all the sponsors for a well organised event and we also thank members of the Australia Parking Industry for voting EasyPark Organisation of the Year 2023,” Mr Grossinger Binshtok said.

MELBOURNE, 16 June 2023 – EasyPark ANZ is delighted to confirm, that following a competitive tender process, it will partner with the City of Perth to begin rolling out its pay-by-phone parking service at selected locations across the CBD andneighbourhood.

The EasyPark App enables drivers to manage their parking through an innovative digital solution. The mobiletechnology is the most used in Australia with close to three million users and enables vehicle owners who use theApp to only pay for the time they occupy the parking space.

Eli Grossinger Binshtok, CEO at EasyPark ANZ said adding the City of Perth to its client list was a significant milestone.

“This is a huge moment for EasyPark ANZ and the Australian parking industry.

“Our vision is to make cities more livable and this is a significant step towards this. Our digital parking service solutionhas been downloaded by close to three million individuals, families, businesses, councils and Parking Operators in allStates and Territories.

“With the City of Perth now on board, we are confident more councils and customers will want to partner with us. Weare thrilled to develop this partnership and look forward to working with residents and the City council,” Mr GrossingerBinshtok said.

City of Perth Lord Mayor, Basil Zempilas, said the technology would make parking in the City more accessible.

“Embracing technology like this will vastly improve the parking experience in the City.

“EasyPark will roll out in more than 9,000 City car bays, first in 17 of our non-boom gated CPP carparks, before expanding to include on-street parking,” Mr Zempilas said.

The City of Perth is the latest major centre to partner with EasyPark ANZ. Already the largest pay-by-phone parkingApp service in Australia, EasyPark ANZ has established partnerships with more than 70 Australian councils and ParkingOperators including the capital cities of Melbourne (VIC), Canberra (ACT) and Hobart (TAS) and many notable otherslike City of Newcastle (NSW), Gold Coast Council (QLD), City of Greater Geelong (VIC) and Cairns RegionalCouncil (QLD).

In the Greater Perth Metropolitan region, the pay-by-phone service is already available to approximately 500,000 usershaving been first introduced in the area in 2014.

EasyPark ANZ’s Western Australia operations are currently active in the City of South Perth, City of Vincent, City ofStirling, City of Subiaco, City of Swan, St John of God Murdoch Hospital, Town of Cambridge, Town of Victoria Park,City of Melville, and the WA Health Department which includes Royal Perth Hospital, King Edward Memorial Hospital and Fremantle Hospital.

EasyPark ANZ, General Manager, Craig Logan said that by adding the City council to its already extensivenetwork across Perth and its neighbourhoods, drivers can have confidence that, be it for work or pleasure, they onlyneed one App for parking.

“The App is easy to download and use. Drivers simply set the start and end time and if they want to end or extendtheir session at a different time, they do so via the App, without having to return to the vehicle, only paying for the time they use.

“We are making parking easier for all parties. For the driver, the App is hassle free and for business customers, we canprovide a single, consolidated, monthly invoice, freeing up on-road reps from tedious form filling, and enablinggreater business efficiencies.

“The App works alongside current coin/card meters and the additional benefit for councils is that, in future, they won’thave to invest as much as they currently do in the management and maintenance of physical meters, enabling a betterredeployment of resources into other sectors.

“On top of this, there are environmental benefits for the City as the pay-by-phone service is ticketless, preventingtonnes of printed paper from landfill each year.

“So, we are excited with this new partnership and look forward to supporting City of Perth users through our dualcustomer contact centres which operate 365 days a year, including on public holidays, and with extended hours,” MrLogan said.

The first phase of the City of Perth rollout will apply to 17 carparks. Drivers can download the EasyPark App via theApple and Android app stores.

EasyPark, Canada partners with ZipBy to provide its eco-friendly mobile parking app to parking lots across Vancouver, Canada

VANCOUVER, British Columbia — ZipBy, a global leader in parking technology today announced a partnership with EasyPark, Canada to launch a ticketless solution through the ZipBy mobile app to all EasyPark locations in the Greater Vancouver area.

The new app will allow drivers to book and pay for parking via their mobile devices eliminating the need to use cash or touch parking meters. Parkers can extend their parking session via the ZipBy app without having to return to the meter to top up. This saves the driver from rushing back to the parking meter or risk a parking fine. “It is also a safer solution for drivers” says Gary Bradley Director of operations for EasyPark, “we are always working towards creating a safe environment for our customers and paying for parking while still in your vehicle, or on the way to a meeting is better than waiting at a meter”.

The partnership between ZipBy and EasyPark is another step towards both companies’ commitment to sustainability and ensures that paper receipts and the wear and tear on parking equipment do not contribute to the waste in landfills.

EasyPark CEO Nigel Bullers says ‘The partnership with ZipBy offers huge benefits to drivers which include:

  1. A convenient way to pay and extend parking – you can leave cards and cash in your wallet and reduce the risk of carrying cash and credit cards, which can be lost or stolen. Parking can be extended anytime from anywhere.
  2. A secure way to pay – ZipBy uses encrypted secure payment to reduce the threat to your personal and financial data.
  3. Faster way to pay – Mobile app contactless payment and secure transactions are a breeze, easier and faster than swiping, inserting a card or waiting in line at a meter using cash.
  4. Always able to pay – Credit card added as your default payment option, you have all of your parking charges on one bill to manage your finances and it also means no more running out of cash or coin to pay for parking

All these benefits plus a substantial contribution to reducing our carbon footprint to reach our sustainability goals results in a positive impact to our environment.

Johan Birgersson steps down and Cameron Clayton takes over as CEO of EasyPark Group

After many growth stages and 14 successful years as CEO of EasyPark Group, Johan Birgersson has decided to step down from his position to enable a leadership transition ahead of the company’s next phase. Cameron Clayton, previously CEO of “The Weather Company”, will take over the role as CEO of EasyPark Group as of April 19, 2022. Johan Birgersson will continue as a Senior Advisor to Cameron Clayton and to the Board of Directors.

Johan Birgersson has successfully led EasyPark Group for close to 14 years, which is a uniquely long time. Some time ago, Johan indicated to the Board of Directors that he was ready to step down from his position as CEO, when the timing was right and a solid succession plan was in place. After a structured process to secure a successor, the Board of Directors has now appointed Cameron Clayton as the new CEO of EasyPark Group.

– It has been an honour and a fantastic time in my life leading EasyPark Group. Taking us from a Swedish startup to where we are today – a global, market-leading tech company. Stepping down has not been an easy decision, but this role requires long term planning. I have achieved my dream, to take EasyPark from the Nordics to over 20 European countries and last year to the UK and across the Atlantic into the US. I would like to thank everyone who’s made this team effort possible. I am convinced that the team is ready and highly capable to take on the next chapter of EasyPark’s successful global growth journey, says Johan Birgersson, CEO of EasyPark Group.

– Johan’s devotion and track record in operational excellence is impressive. He has always led from the front and with his personal behaviour and decisions set the example for what good looks like and how values translate into action. This has made it possible for EasyPark Group to become a global pacesetter within digital parking services. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Johan for everything he has done during his years as CEO, says Niklas Savander, Chairman of the Board.

Cameron Clayton has long experience from the tech-business and leading global organisations, most recently as CEO of The Weather Company, the world’s largest private weather company. He was responsible for building weather.com into a top 10 website in the world, and he also led them to their partnership with Apple and Android, which made the Weather app the 3rd most downloaded app in the world. In addition, he has been General Manager of IBM’s partner ecosystem, and he successfully helped lead IBM’s integration of Red Hat building Red Hat Marketplace.

– I am honoured by this opportunity to lead EasyPark Group going forward. The company has a great history and I am really impressed by the strong culture and commitment among all employees. With the acquisition of PARK NOW Group, EasyPark is well on its way to helping cities around the world be more liveable. I see a very bright future ahead and I look forward to being part of this journey, says Cameron Clayton.

– The acquisition of PARK NOW Group from BMW Group and Daimler Mobility has enabled a great expansion of EasyPark Group’s global footprint. Cameron’s experience within business, product and technology strategy together with a strong ability to build high performing teams will be a great asset for the company, says Niklas Savander.

Cameron Clayton will assume his role as CEO on April 19, 2022. Johan Birgersson will continue as a Senior Advisor to Cameron and to the Board of Directors.

The Cities of the Future Index: Easypark

October 14, 2021

The Cities of the Future Index: Easypark

The global study uses data to reveal the smartest cities in the world, with a focus on how they are adopting new technologies to create a more sustainable and liveable present and future for their citizens.

  • London, UK, ranks as the most intelligent and future-proof city with a population of over 3 million people, followed by New York, USA, and San Francisco, USA.
  • Copenhagen, Denmark, ranks as the most intelligent and future-proof city with a population of between 600,000 and 3 million people, followed by Stockholm, Sweden, and Oslo, Norway.
  • Lund, Sweden, ranks as the most intelligent and future-proof city with a population of between 50,000 and 600,000 people, followed by Stavanger, Norway, and Espoo, Finland.

STOCKHOLM, Oct. 13, 2021  — EasyPark Group, the global parking tech company, releases a study about the most intelligent and future-proof cities in the world that reveals which cities are best adopting new technological solutions to improve their sustainability and liveability. As mobility innovators, EasyPark Group recognizes the impact that new technologies have on societies, and how it can help to create sustainable and forward thinking urban areas that enhance the lives of their inhabitants. The company therefore set out to determine which global smart cities are leading the way in embracing technological advancements, and proving themselves to be Cities of the Future.

– Many governments are stepping up their responses to climate change and innovative solutions often begin in major cities before filtering out to the rest of the country. Many of the highest scoring cities in the index score well for high electric car usage and low CO2 emissions rates, and while cities continue to expand, mobility is taking on an increasingly important role in people’s day to day lives. Whilst the world faces challenges relating to climate change, some of the most technologically advanced cities around the world have already adopted innovative services and solutions to optimize traffic flow and ease mobility, to make the city more liveable, says Johan Birgersson, CEO of EasyPark Group.

How the study was conducted

The study began by assessing several thousand cities around the world and looked at those smart cities that are leading the way in implementing the use of new technologies. Understanding that cities face different challenges depending on their population, the study was split into three size categories: 1) metropolitan areas with over 3 million inhabitants, 2) between 600,000 and 3 million inhabitants, and 3) between 50,000 and 600,000 inhabitants. The result of the study reveals the top 50 highest ranking smart and future-proof cities worldwide in each category.

The study established the factors that determine how technologically advanced and sustainable a city is and scored the locations accordingly. To do this, the study retrieved data from sources such as the World Bank, the Economist, the International Monetary Fund and the Lancet. Four key areas were considered:

Firstly, the Digital Life of each city is studied by assessing how widely technology has been adopted by the population, the government and within the healthcare sector. It also reviews the success and reputation of technology educational institutions in each urban area.

Next, the study focus on Mobility Innovation. To do this, researchers looked at how innovative parking solutions are within each city, the overall traffic management system including public transport, and how clean transport in the city is.

Following this, the study considers each city’s Business Tech Infrastructure. To do this, the level of business innovation, prevalence of ePayments and quality of internet connectivity in each location is measured.

Finally, the Environmental Sustainability of each city is evaluated by analysing green energy usage, the number of green buildings, the waste management system and the overall climate change response and planning.

– It is interesting to see patterns in development forming within continents. Whilst metropolitan areas in Europe score well across the various size categories, the study shows that Scandinavian cities all rank particularly highly. It is evident that these countries are at the cutting edge of adopting new technologies. Looking at urban areas with between 600,000 and 3 million inhabitants, 50 percent of the top 10 cities are in Scandinavia. This is also the case for cities with between 50,000 and 600,000 inhabitants, where 90 percent of the top 10 are from these countries. It is clear that Scandinavian nations are doing all they can to provide sustainable and liveable environments for their citizens, concludes Johan Birgersson, CEO of EasyPark Group.

EasyPark is Now Available in Portugal

The tech company EasyPark that helps drivers find and manage parking and charge their electrical vehicle, is available in Portugal from the 14th of September. The award-winning app with coverage throughout Europe will be available to use for all street parking in the city of Lisbon.

The global tech company EasyPark has during the last few years expanded throughout Europe and is today available in 27 countries over the world. The company now announces that the services will be launched in Portugal, starting with the city of Lisbon, from September. The award-winning parking app will be available to use for all on-street parking spaces in the city.

“The EasyPark app makes it easier to pay for parking with minimal effort for the driver. Our vision is to make cities more liveable and a foundation for that is to make the parking experience as easy and seamless as possible”, says Jennifer Amador Tavares De Sousa, Country Director Portugal, EasyPark Group.

EasyPark offers several innovative features. Besides making it possible to start, stop, prolong or shorten the parking session in the app, drivers can also pay for electrical vehicle charging, find streets with high parking availability and pre-book parking spaces. The app is also adapted for in-car operating systems such as Apple CarPlay and Android Automotive.

The company also offers software solutions for parking providers, such as cities and property owners, that gathers data to aid decision making regarding city planning. An optimized parking ecosystem means a shorter search time for an available parking spot, which reduces both congestion and emissions.

“We are happy to be taking the step into Portugal and start offering our services to both drivers and parking providers. EasyPark will make a significant difference in making Portugal’s cities more liveable, starting with Lisbon”, says Amador Tavares De Sousa.

EasyPark has coverage throughout Europe and eases travelling and commuting between countries such as Spain, Italy, France and Germany.

EasyPark Launches New Offer: Digital Prediction of Parking Behaviour

EasyPark’s new offer now enables an even more data driven approach to parking management. It also helps parking providers to get a deep understanding of their parking inventory, as well as predict both the supply and demand of parking spaces.

The parking tech company EasyPark provides leading solutions for both drivers, cities and parking operators. The app enables drivers to find streets with high parking availability, pay for electric vehicle charging as well as paying for parking sessions.

For cities, parking operators and property owners, EasyPark is now launching a brand new tool that will enable a data driven approach to parking management and planning. The tool is built around a unique technology that helps parking providers understand their inventory in detail, as well as predict the demand for parking down to specific times for individual streets. The tool can thus be used for optimization of traffic flow and decision making in multiple areas. Pricing, enforcement, planning of new parking locations and restrictions are some examples, as well as planning for alternative transport options such as public transportation. The new service is called ”Parking Data as a Service”.

“A digitalized parking ecosystem adds an infinite number of possibilities, both for improving each driver’s individual parking experience and for city planning. At EasyPark we want to make cities more liveable, and the Parking Data as a Service offer will give cities new capabilities, enabling a data driven approach to urban planning”, says Johan Birgersson, CEO of EasyPark Group.

Using a combination of advanced technology and methods, information is combined with EasyPark’s predictive software which provides unique insights into the parking behaviour of the area. Through the EasyPark app, drivers also get suggestions on parking availability and can save valuable time when searching for parking spots. It can also play an important role in making the city more sustainable and liveable, with less unnecessary circulation of cars and less emissions and congestion.

“We believe the potential in city planning and parking management is huge. The opportunity to directly improve the parking availability has great benefits for drivers, since it makes it easier to find an empty parking space. With a shorter search time, fewer cars will have to circle looking for spaces which makes this a great example of technology supporting greener cities. When space is used better, everybody wins”, says Johan Birgersson.

Parking Data as a Service was launched during the spring 2021 and is already being used by several cities in Europe. Plans are to continue expanding it throughout EasyPark’s markets in Europe and the world.
