Medical University of South Carolina Transitions to AIMS Parking System

The Medical University of South Carolina transitioned to AIMS in late August of 2021 after using a university developed system for 25 years.  The transition to AIMS has provided them with a software package that manages permitting, ticketing and financial reporting in one system.

MUSC implemented the AIMS Mobile Enforcement App for real-time citation issuance with built-in LPR, which has allowed them to move to a completely virtual permitting environment, saving money on decals and hangtags.   With the implementation of the AIMS e-commerce module, MUSC’s hospital employees now have simple tools to manage their vehicles, pay for permits, view citations and join a waiting list.

Marty Morganello, Facilities Manager at MUSC is pleased with the transition.  “AIMS has revolutionized our operations and we are finding new/easier ways to do things almost every day.   The reporting is very customizable and extensive and if there is a report you need to add criteria to, the support team will do it quickly.”

Replacing their legacy system with AIMS eliminated the need for MUSC to log into three different systems to manage citations, permits and finances.   AIMS has also allowed the Medical University to automate payroll deductions and better communicate with their parkers.

AIMS SOLUTION: EDC CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW CUSTOMER: CITY OF ST. LOUIS, MO

EDC CORPORATION ANNOUNCES NEW CUSTOMER: CITY OF ST. LOUIS, MO

Syracuse, NY – EDC Corporation, the Syracuse, NY-based developer of the AIMS Parking Management Software solution suite, announced today, announced today that its system was recently chosen by the City of St. Louis, MO (population 3.8 million) after an exhaustive selection process. The AIMS system was successfully deployed in July 2020 – despite the inherent complexities of a system-wide conversion from a previous system andchallenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

By adopting the AIMS solution — which includes vehicle-mounted License Plate Readers (LPR) technology and equips the city’s 40 enforcement officers with the AIMS Mobile Enforcement App — St. Louis is already seeing efficiency gains in managing its 300,000 parking tickets per year.

“We’re very proud to partner with the City of St. Louis and support their parking operation,” said EDC vice president Ellen Genung. “Through our real-time, online system – they’re now managing all enforcement, handling all steps of the citation life-cycle (including billing, payments, and appeals), and even seamlessly interfacing with two pay-by-phone vendors.” Genung added the AIMS system has also allowed the city to move customer service activities in-house and provide better service to constituents.

“There are many things I like about AIMS, but two are customization and support,” said Jerry Walker, Director of Information Technology at the city’s Treasurer’s Office. “Any customization needed is created fairly quickly, usually within a couple of days, whereas our past experience was that customization normally takes weeks.

The AIMS team’s support is also great: When you call you speak directly to a developer or engineer, which is unheard of in the parking industry.”

The sentiment is shared by City of St. Louis Treasurer, Tishaura Jones.

“When we started interviewing vendors, I had a long list of standard features that would help the parking division be more customer friendly,” said Jones. “The only vendor that met the challenge, at a super reasonable price, was AIMS. As we began the software transition, I was more impressed at the attention to detail from the staff and the reporting capability. I am eagerly looking forward to analyzing the enforcement and ticketing data and using it to make smarter decisions about division operations.”

EDC CORPORATION INTRODUCES e-TICKETING TO ITS AIMS PARKING MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS SUITE

EDC CORPORATION INTRODUCES e-TICKETING TO ITS AIMS PARKING MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS SUITE

New function allows parking enforcement officers to issue citations electronically from within the Parking Office in conjunction with AIMS LPR system; benefits include speedier and safer ticketing, increased fee collection, and better documentation of violations.

Syracuse, NY – EDC Corporation, the Syracuse, NY-based developer of the AIMS Parking Management suite of parking management solutions, announced today that it has introduced e-Ticketing functionality in conjunction with the company’s proven and popular LPR technology. E-ticketing enables parking staff to issue citations within the parking office, using the violator’s license plate as the primary credential. Benefits include enhanced safety for personnel, higher productivity, lower operational costs, faster collection of fees, and a more robust and automated documentation trail, which includes photographic, time-stamp and GPS ‘proof’ of the violation.

“Moving from physical to virtual ticketing is the next, logical step in the evolution of the parking industry,” said Ellen Genung, Vice President of EDC Corporation. “We’ve seen this same progression in other segments of the transportation industry, beginning with Red Light Cameras as early as 1993 – to the current rush in the U.S. to migrate from staffed, paper-ticket toll booths to LPR cameras and pay-by-plate tolls, after longstanding use of that technology in Europe.” According to Genung, e-Ticketing is likewise a logical enhancement to and investment in EDC’s suite of parking software modules.

EDC customer Derrick Davis, who is Director of Parking and Transportation for Georgia Southern University, has seen excellent results from the AIMS e-Ticketing software, which was rolled out to select customers as a beta this past fall.

“Building on our use of AIMS LPR and virtual permitting, we implemented the AIMS eTicket module in the fall of 2019,” said Davis. “We’ve been able to issue 54% more citations, are no longer spending a quarter of our time looking for vehicles to tag with a windshield envelope, and we’re providing violators with far more information with each citation. Even better, our web payments have increased around 10%, which saves hands-on processing time. And, if we cite an unregistered vehicle, the license plate RO Lookup has enabled us to collect over $26K of previously unpaid citations and link over half of the unregistered vehicles to students.” Davis adds his department has also seen a drop-off in parking ticket-related office traffic. “This has been a real game changer for our operation.”

HOW AIMS e-TICKETING WORKS

The AIMS system provides parking enforcement personnel with digital tools for virtual enforcement. LPR-equipped vehicles and Fixed LPR cameras continually patrol and monitor parking lots, garages and streets, tracking vehicles and easily triggering needed citations in real-time.  On the backend of the system, office personnel review the LPR data and issue citations from the safety of their office via email or, if desired, through AIMS’ print-and-mail ticket management system.

BENEFITS OF AIMS e-TICKETING

  • Increased officer safety – The officer continues to work in the LPR vehicle, checking plates without having to exit and interact with disgruntled customers.
  • Increased efficiency and citation issuance rates – Mobile and fixed LPR cameras do the work in the field, enabling office staff to efficiently review hits and issue citations without the enforcement officer having to walk from vehicle to vehicle, across campus, or across city blocks.
  • Fixed cameras can capture violators without an LPR vehicle patrolling a lot or parking structure to physically place the citation on the windshield
  • Reduced costs in enforcement staff and parking violation stock
  • Increased accuracy as the office has more time to review data before completing the citation
  • More information can be sent with the citation than can be printed on a ticket. This information can include images from the LPR cameras and the GPS location of the ticket.
  • AIMS generates and delivers the ticket automatically

EDC CORPORATION LAUNCHES AIMS MobilePay CONSUMER MOBILE PAYMENT APP AS EXTENSTION TO ITS AIMS PARKING MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS SUITE

January 24, 2020

EDC CORPORATION LAUNCHES AIMS MobilePay CONSUMER MOBILE PAYMENT APP

AS EXTENSTION TO ITS AIMS PARKING MANAGEMENT SOLUTIONS SUITE

New app offers customers increased convenience – while increasing revenue opportunities and operational efficiencies for municipalities, higher-education, and other customers utilizing AIMS Parking Management platform.

Syracuse, NY – EDC Corporation, the Syracuse, NY-based developer of the AIMS Parking Management suite of parking management solutions, announced today that it has officially launched its consumer-facing AIMS MobilePay app. The smart phone app offers added convenience to consumers while affording new revenue and operational opportunities to the cities, universities, airports, and health care centers utilizing the AIMS parking suite of products.

“Today’s drivers appreciate and increasingly expect their pay-to-park transactions to be facilitated and made more convenient using a smart phone app,” said Ellen Genung, Vice President of EDC Corporation. “After considerable research, development, and a deep dive into the user experiences and pitfalls of other mobile payment apps on the market, AIMS MobilePay – or AMP Park for short – is our thoughtful answer to that need. Not by coincidence, it’s one more in a long line of strategic investments and technology tools we’ve recently introduced to the AIMS Parking Solutions suite, such as LPR, mobile enforcement, and complete e-ticketing.”

Genung added that the AIMS MobilePay app was developed based on extensive customer feedback, thorough interactive design and beta-testing phases – culminating in its launch at the company’s latest annual User Conference, held in Fort Worth, Texas this fall (September 16-18), where the final version of the app was introduced.  “Our clients now have a mobile payment solution that fully integrates with their permit and enforcement management system, consolidating parking capacities, revenue reporting and enforcement data into one comprehensive system.  This is a step beyond simply integrating enforcement with third-party mobile payment apps.”

BENEFITS TO THE CUSTOMER

Compatible with iOS and Android smart phones – and downloaded free of charge from the customer’s app store of choice (Apple App Store or Google Play) – the AMP Park smart phone app establishes a secure and individualized account for your customer, including an encrypted wireless connection to the user’s preferred payment method. Once the app is installed, the AMP Park app:

  • Assists with identifying available parking spaces in your AIMS Parking Management service area
  • Streamlines payments with no need to exit the vehicle, transact with cash or a credit card, or interact with a parking meter, kiosk, or parking attendant;
  • Provides real-time access to the consumer’s AMP Park account via phone or desktop (at aimsmobilepay.com), where the customer can set parking session reminders, review transaction history, update and manage multiple payment methods, and more

BENEFITS TO PARKING MANAGMENT

In addition to providing paid-parking customers added convenience, AIMS MobilePay also benefits entities running on the AIMS Parking Solution platform. Benefits include:

  • Increased revenue — The convenience of AIMS MobilePay’s space locater and payment functions encourages consumers to utilize paid parking.
  • Better use of parking-space inventory — The app’s space locator function also helps parking management better utilize and maximize capacity.
  • An attractive alternative to 3rd party mobile-pay apps — When consumers utilize the AIMS MobilePay service, as opposed to popular consumer parking apps, the operator has the opportunity to capture a greater percentage of the resulting revenues, speed collection of payments, and retain more flexibility and authority to set parking rates.
  • More consumer insight — Because AIMS MobilePay is an extension of – and fully integrated with – the operator’s existing AIMS Parking Management system, its use enables capture and leverage of associated customer data and parking trends such as frequency, seasonality, and more.
  • Improved enforcement – AIMS MobilePay links to the operator’s AIMS Mobile Enforcement device, which in turn allows enforcement staff to view active and expired sessions and issue citations to vehicles without paid parking sessions.
  • Easier customer management — AMP Park links parking sessions to existing customers in your AIMS Parking Management system, providing a complete picture of parking activity including past citations, current permits, and all the pay-by-phone parking sessions on one screen.
  • Improved reporting — One system provides a snapshot of enforcement, permitting, and pay-by-phone sessions – including financials, customer data, location capacities, usage, and more.
