Beam Global Awarded New State of California Contract for Rapidly Deployed Sustainable EV Charging Infrastructure Products

SAN DIEGO, June 29, 2022 — Beam Global, (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), the leading provider of innovative sustainable products and technologies for electric vehicle (EV) charging, energy storage, energy security and outdoor media, announced that the State of California has awarded contract #1-22-61-16 to supply EV ARC™ sustainable EV charging systems through the Department of General Services (DGS) to Beam Global. California state, local and municipal government entities, and government entities in other U.S. states, can purchase Beam products at the California negotiated price, without having to go through a lengthy procurement or technology review process. The award is effective June 24, 2022 through June 23, 2025 and is eligible for renewal through June 23, 2027.

Use of the DGS contract is mandatory for all State of California Departments and is available for use by local California governmental agencies. The state has opened this purchasing vehicle to government entities in all 50 states that elect to use the California contract to buy Beam’s rapidly deployed solar-powered EV charging systems at the same volume price offered to the State of California. The contract includes several configurations of the EV ARC™ 2020, EV ARC™ DC Fast Charging system, the ARC Mobility™ trailer and emergency preparedness accessories. This represents an expansion over previous California contracts to include more Beam Global products than were available on previously awarded contracts.

Off-grid and solar-powered, each EV ARC™ 2020 generates and stores its own electricity, then delivers that energy to power any quality brand level 2 EV charger. Transportable yet permanent, it fits in a standard parking spot without reducing available parking and can charge up to 6 vehicles simultaneously. The ARC Mobility™ trailer is a specialized hydraulic transportation system which enables a single operator to easily relocate EV ARC™ 2020 systems. The EV ARC™ DC Fast Charging system enables DC fast charging in locations with insufficient circuity, no grid connection or excessive upgrade or power costs. The contract includes Beam’s emergency power solutions which provide a secure and reliable source of electricity for EV charging and first responders during natural disasters or other periods of utility grid interruption.

“This new contract with California is at once a powerful validation of our products which the state has been using for many years and also a strong indication of California’s commitment to electrifying transportation and using rapidly deployed, sustainable and robust charging infrastructure products that are made in the U.S. to fuel this new generation of vehicles,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “Consumers, companies and governments are adopting EVs at a faster rate than ever and yet we are still just at the beginning of this massive shift. The need for EV charging infrastructure is becoming greater and more urgent every day. Our ability to rapidly scale and deploy EV chargers without construction or electrical work and without utility bills, grid capacity constraints or vulnerability to black-outs, is becoming increasingly recognized as vital to the success of this evolution. We are busier than ever but we’re planning on getting a lot more busy.”

California Governor Gavin Newsom presented a $286.4 billion budget proposal, dubbed the “California Blueprint,” in January. The plan suggests spending $22.5 billion to address the burgeoning climate crisis in the state, allocating $6.1 billion to electric vehicle related initiatives. California also became the first state to commit to effectively banning sales of new, internal combustion engine or gas-powered vehicles by 2035. President Biden signed Executive Order 14008 and subsequent Executive Order 14057 with its accompanying Federal Sustainability Plan which calls for 100% Zero-Emission Vehicle Acquisitions by 2035, including 100% light-duty acquisitions by 2027. The bipartisan Infrastructure Investments and Jobs Act (IIJA) authorized $7.5 billion to build out a national EV charging network of 500,000 chargers.

California and other state, local and municipal entities can purchase from DGS contract #1-22-61-16, and federal agencies can purchase from GSA Contract Number 47QSWA21D0006. Both contracts serve to simplify the government procurement process and make chosen solutions available at the best negotiated pricing. Blink Charging Announces the Transformative Acquisition of EV Charging Leader SemaConnect, Further Expanding Its Network and Capabilities

  • Acquisition further solidifies Blink’s leadership position through complete vertical integration of supply-chain, engineering, and in-house manufacturing capabilities of more than 10,000 EV chargers today and scaling to 50,000 per year
  • In-house manufacturing and US-based assembly brings Blink in compliance with the Biden Administration Buy American initiatives

Miami Beach, FL  Blink Charging Co. (Nasdaq: BLNK, BLNKW) (“Blink” or the “Company”), a leading owner, operator, and provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and services, today announced the signing of a definitive agreement to acquire SemaConnect, Inc., a leading provider of EV charging infrastructure solutions in North America, for $200 million subject to certain customary adjustments for working capital. The cash and common stock transaction will add nearly 13,000 EV chargers to Blink’s existing footprint, an additional 3,800 site host locations, and more than 150,000 registered EV driver members.

With this acquisition, Blink Charging will be the only EV charging company to offer complete vertical integration from research & development and manufacturing to EV charger ownership and operations. This vertical integration creates unparalleled opportunities for Blink to control its supply chain and accelerate its go-to-market speed while reducing operating costs.

Blink will benefit from SemaConnect’s in-house research & development, hardware design, and manufacturing capabilities. SemaConnect’s manufacturing facility in Maryland will allow Blink to comply with the Buy American mandates and to position itself to significantly capitalize on the $7.5 billion Biden Administration EV infrastructure bill and assist with the Administration’s goal to build out the first-ever national network of 500,000 electric vehicle chargers along America’s highways and in communities. The acquisition will also position Blink to assist the administration’s development of a national EV charging network that provides interoperability among different charging companies, and is user-friendly, reliable, and accessible to all Americans.

“This is a transformative acquisition for the EV charging industry and for Blink. SemaConnect is an established and well-known EV charging company with a proven track record of success, strong relationships with its site host partners in both the public and private sectors, and best-in-class technical capabilities,” said Michael D. Farkas, Founder and CEO of Blink Charging.

“SemaConnect has a robust hardware product line-up which complements Blink’s extensive software product offerings. This includes our multi-language and multi-currency network, allowing Blink to have an EV charging station for any location across more than 20 countries and expanding,” said Farkas. “In addition, we are particularly excited about the DCFC charger being developed by SemaConnect. These efforts allow Blink to significantly accelerate our DCFC speed to market while drastically reducing our R&D costs,” said Mr. Farkas.

Blink intends to transition SemaConnect’s chargers to a single state-of-the-art network developed by a joint engineering team, which nearly doubles with this acquisition. The addition of the SemaConnect hardware will accelerate Blink’s expansion across multiple municipalities and geographies, including California where SemaConnect chargers already comply with local requirements for swipe credit card functionality.

Founded in 2008, SemaConnect is a market leader with a diverse suite of products, including Level 2 and DC Fast chargers, and charging-as-a-service program which provides a full package of EV charging solutions. SemaConnect’s hardware and software solutions reach a wide range of critical EV charging customers across municipal, parking, multifamily, hotel, office, retail and commercial in the U.S. and Canada. Major customers include CBRE, JLL, Hines, Greystar, AvalonBay Communities, Cisco Systems, General Electric, among others.

Mahi Reddy, Founder and CEO of SemaConnect, said:  “Like Blink, SemaConnect has been a leader in the EV charging industry since its early days, and the combination of our expertise will enable us to scale the deployment of EV infrastructure even more quickly and efficiently. We are excited to join Blink as we charge ahead in transforming the EV charging industry with flexible, reliable, and innovative solutions for customers around the globe.”

“With complementary values, business models, and equipment, SemaConnect was an ideal acquisition target for Blink. This acquisition brings to Blink top talent from the industry. By adding the SemaConnect team to its ranks, Blink is building an industry leading EV charging company. We welcome the SemaConnect team to the Blink family,” said Mr. Farkas.

“With this acquisition and Blink’s recent past acquisitions, including EB Charging and Blue Corner in Europe, we have significantly expanded and strengthened our position as a global leader in the EV space,” said Mr. Farkas.

Mahi Reddy from SemaConnect is expected to join the Blink Board of Directors.

The SemaConnect acquisition is subject to customary closing conditions.

Q1 was also the second biggest quarter for deliveries in Beam’s history following the record fourth quarter 2021.

“Q1 has historically been a slower quarter for us but not this year. The momentum we built in 2021 continues with a first quarter record start in deliveries for Beam Global,” said Desmond Wheatley, CEO of Beam Global. “The 2021 historic highs in new orders set the pace for record revenue and deliveries in 2021 but also, importantly, enabled us to continue that pace and deliver record results in the first quarter of 2022 as our investments in sales, operations and manufacturing deliver returns. With pipeline also at a new high, we see no sign of this abating, boding well for continued momentum and growth for the year.”

GRAVITY’S PIONEERING URBAN EV CHARGERS DEBUT AT NY AUTO SHOW: FASTEST, SMALLEST AND OPTIMIZED TO KEEP ELECTRIC BILLS DOWN AND THE GRID HEALTHY

April 14, 2022

GRAVITY’S PIONEERING URBAN EV CHARGERS DEBUT AT NY AUTO SHOW: FASTEST, SMALLEST AND OPTIMIZED TO KEEP ELECTRIC BILLS DOWN AND THE GRID HEALTHY

360kW in a charger no bigger than a suitcase: Gravity’s true fast charging tech solving the speed, space and power challenges holding back EV adoption in big cities

View photos and specs of Gravity’s new charging equipment

NEW YORK, April 14, 2022  — Gravity, the pioneering electric vehicle infrastructure & fleet start-up, today debuted its new urban fast-charger (TFC-C1) at the New York Auto Show that solves the speed, space and power challenges impeding EV adoption in urban areas.

At 360kW, Gravity’s device delivers a faster charge than any other equipment on the market, while sized to fit virtually in any constrained indoor parking space, with floor, wall, and ceiling mounting options. Gravity is installing 24 of the new chargers at its Manhattan Plaza public charging hub on 42nd Street this spring, where they’ll serve the public and Gravity’s growing fleet of EV yellow taxis.

Gravity’s fast-charging equipment also solves one of the key constraints holding back EV adoption: the high costs of power.  Because electric bills are largely driven by peak-demand charges, adding high-powered EV charging to a site can dramatically increase electricity costs. Gravity’s charging system continuously balances the power demand from each vehicle with the demand from other site uses, while flexibly allocating power to chargers and managing total site peak-demand. This system ensures the largest driver of electricity bill costs holds roughly constant, while supplying each vehicle with the maximum power it can handle, lowering the cost of EV charging and helping smooth demand on the grid.

“We have redesigned this equipment from the ground up to solve the big problems facing EV charging today. Not only can we offer our partners equipment that’s 50-times faster than the most common chargers, we can actually bring their electric bills down in the process—all while making it easier for the electric grid to handle the growing demands of EV charging. This is going to revolutionize the way big cities like New York approach charging infrastructure and the broader transition to clean energy,” said Moshe Cohen, founder and CEO of Gravity.

Gravity’s new chargers are being exhibited at the NY Auto Show alongside two new advanced EV yellow taxis from its growing fleet, both of which are now fully licensed to serve on New York City streets.

Gravity’s Fast-Charger

Power: 360kw

Size: 39in (length) x 18in (width) x 8in (depth)

Mounting: Floor, ceiling or wall mount

Cables: Liquid cooled CCS cables (>500amp) with proprietary cable retraction systems for ease of use without the mess and risks of exposed charging cables.

About Gravity:
Gravity, Inc is a sustainable mobility startup focusing on EV infrastructure, energy management and EV fleets. Gravity’s solutions bring together best-in-class equipment and integrated software, seamless customer interfaces and unique amenities that increase productivity. Gravity is opening Manhattan’s first and only True Fast Charging site in 2022 and has just launched a pioneering all-EV yellow taxi fleet, reinvigorating one of New York City’s most iconic brands. Gravity partners with building owners and parking operators to customize portfolio-wide conversions to electric vehicle charging, with the ability to support both individual EV drivers and large EV fleets.

Flowbird Completes First Ever Local Authority Electric Vehicle (EV) Charge Point Project for Wokingham Borough Council New Innovative EV Infrastructure to Link Charging and Payments Together

Flowbird Smart City UK has completed its first local authority electric vehicle (EV) charge point pilot project  Flowbird Smart City UK has completed its first local authority electric vehicle (EV) charge point pilot project for Wokingham Borough Council. This major infrastructure upgrade will help meet demand for the growing use of EVs across the borough.

Wokingham EV drivers can access Flowbird Smart City UK’s App which charges for both the parking session and the kW consumed – this innovative trial allows the council to offer combined or separate parking and charging rates. The app can be accessed by registered users or guests.

It is also planned that – in two months’ time – Flowbird Smart City UK’s Cale Web Terminal will be linked directly to the charge points. This will be the first time a parking pay and display terminal will provide options for everyday park and charge users, making EV charging easier and more inclusive.

Danny Hassett, Flowbird’s Managing Director Smart City UK, says: “Wokingham’s new EV connectivity will be innovative, as linking a payment terminal to a charge point is a new development in parking and charging. As EVs move from early adopters to the mainstream, people need simple ways to both park and charge and the option to pay in whichever ways suits them. And councils need ways to price both parking and charging separately or as a bundle. This solution will meet both needs for the first time.”

The system is backed up with a 24/7 support line – to help end-users troubleshoot any unforeseen operational issues – offering a solution to out-of-service terminals that frustrates users and deters EV uptake.

The new EV charge points – located in three busy parking sites across the borough at Dinton Pastures Country Park, Carnival Pool MSCP and Shute End Eastern car parks – are all three-phased, which give out a 22kWh charge, and support all new EVs that utilise a standard AC charger.

Geoff Hislop, Parking Manager, Highways and Transport, at Wokingham Borough Council, said: “We chose Flowbird Smart City UK for this trial as their solutions are both cutting-edge and reliable. We are confident we now have infrastructure that will support the demand for electric vehicle use now and in the future.”

Wokingham’s new EV charge points are now ready to use for residents and visitors.

Danny Hassett concludes: “For many years Flowbird Smart City UK have provided parking solutions that are known for their quality and support. We can offer a one-stop app to provide park and charge in Wokingham, which is easy to set up and cost effective for visitors and residents.”

City of Lompoc CA Deploys Beam Global EV ARC™ Off-Grid EV Charging Systems for City Fleet Electrification Initiative

SAN DIEGO, Feb. 15, 2022 — Beam Global, (Nasdaq: BEEM, BEEMW), the leading provider of innovative sustainable technology for electric vehicle (EV) charging, outdoor media and energy security, announced that the City of Lompoc in California has deployed two EV ARC™ solar-powered EV charging systems available for public use. The systems were partially funded by the Santa Barbara County Air Pollution Control District’s Clean Air Grants for Infrastructure program and were purchased through the California Contract #1-18-61-16 which simplifies the procurement process and ensures best pricing.

The City’s EV ARC™ systems are located at the Lompoc Valley Medical Center (LVMC) parking lot, located at 1515 East Ocean Ave, and fit in a standard parking space without reducing available parking. Each system has two charging plugs to provide public access to charge up to four EVs. Each EV ARC™ system generates and stores its own clean electricity and delivers that electricity to power EVs, day or night, and during inclement weather and power outages. The transportable but permanent units include the Emergency Power Panel option for first responder use during grid outages and shutdowns.

“By offering high-tech, off-grid solutions for electric vehicle charging like the EV ARC, cities like Lompoc can help minimize our impact on the electric grid,” said Lompoc Mayor Jenelle Osborne. “I hope we see more cities and communities begin to adopt similar clean, renewable energy technologies in the years to come.”

Requiring no connection to the utility grid, Beam Global products eliminate disruptive construction projects, costly electric circuit upgrades and utility charges to deliver significant long-term savings to city budgets. Because there is no grid connection, EV charging systems are rapidly deployed, readily relocated and can be placed in locations where they are needed most.

“We are seeing more and more customers view rapid deployment and grid-impact as important when planning their EV charging infrastructure,” said Beam Global CEO Desmond Wheatley. “Federal, state and local governments are putting increasing emphasis on resilient EV charging as electricity becomes vital fuel for their communities and their fleet vehicles.”

In January California Governor Gavin Newsom outlined an historic $10 billion zero-emission vehicle (ZEV) package to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles and fight climate change. This package is a critical part of Governor Newsom’s vision to forge an oil-free future. This $10 billion ZEV package builds on the State’s action to shift sales of new vehicles entirely to all electric by 2035, utilizing California’s leadership to accelerate the transition to zero-emission vehicles and dramatically reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
