EV Connect, Flash and Qmerit Partner to Set New Standard for Reservable Parking, Charging Experience

EV Connect, Flash, and Qmerit’s alliance will help bridge gap in charging infrastructure with a seamless, reliable and predictable driver experience

AUSTIN, TX & EL SEGUNDO, CA, April 16, 2024 – EV ConnectFlash, and Qmerit—pioneers in the electric vehicle (EV) charging, parking technology, and EV implementation and maintenance fields, respectively—today announced a partnership that will accelerate the expansion of EV charging solutions by uniting an integrated charging management platform by EV Connect, the scale of Flash’s North American digital infrastructure, and the installation, integration, and maintenance services offered by Qmerit. The companies are combining these services to provide a seamless, reservable parking and charging experience for drivers while simplifying management for asset owners and operators. In doing so, the partners address the issues of management, reliability, discoverability, and usability that have slowed the nation’s transition to EVs.

Each partner will contribute their specialized technology and services: Flash’s innovative cloud-based parking technology ecosystem with over 10,000 parking assets and digital demand network exceeding 100 million drivers via native partner integrations; EV Connect’s leading software platform and services for electric vehicle charging networks; and Qmerit’s leading expertise in electrification infrastructure, installation and maintenance services.

EV drivers using Flash’s network through one of its many native integrations will now be able to access chargers on the EV Connect network and vice versa. This allows users to predictably and reliably find, reserve, access, and pay for charging when they park, all via a single platform and a single payment. The integration will likewise tie together the various aspects of parking- and charging management by giving asset owners and operators one hassle-free platform supported by Qmerit’s installation and service options.

The Problem: a Charging Crisis

The rapid and accelerating adoption of EVs in the United States—EV sales in 2023 were up more than 50% from the previous year—presents a significant problem: the expansion of the nationwide EV charging network must outpace demand or become a limiting factor for electrification as a whole. Much of the focus on closing this gap is concerned with public, government-funded charging infrastructure, which must exceed a forecasted 1.2 million chargers by 2030 in order to support demand, per the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. The same report calls for 28 million private chargers, including the commercial sector, which must evidently bear the vast majority of the EV charging burden. To reach those goals, the existing charger network will have to increase twenty-fold.

“The transition to EV in this decade requires all-hands-on-deck, especially as the next generation of EV adopters make the switch, and we can’t rely on public charging infrastructure alone,” said Dan Sharplin, CEO at Flash. “Facilities with private parking, from retail and hospitality to events and community venues, are a key part of the solution, and must be prepared to meet EV driver expectations.”

The EV charging crisis can be attributed to a wide range of causes, not the least of which are a lack in quality and ease-of-use. The inconvenience of finding an accessible parking spot with a well-functioning charger deters consumers, making them less likely to value or use the installed base of private-sector chargers. This, in turn, has discouraged investment by commercial operators who may be reluctant to take on the management and maintenance of a charging system.

The Solution: Streamlined Parking, Charging, and Maintenance Experience

Making the EV experience more convenient, accessible, predictable, and reliable will minimize the friction experienced by drivers and encourage the adoption of EV charging systems on commercial properties—a clear necessity for overcoming the charging crisis at large. The partnership between EV Connect, Flash, and Qmerit is designed to serve as an important part of that solution, while enhancing the return on investment for the commercial sector.

“Our state-of-the-art EV charging technology is a key component to driving this partnership forward, representing a significant leap with unmatched reliability, performance and uptime through our Network Operations Center and round-the-clock customer support,” said Daniel Bryant, VP of Customer Operations for EV Connect.

Beyond the task of connecting the driver with accessible parking-and-charging stations, fulfilled by Flash, high-quality, well-managed, and thoroughly-maintained equipment is essential for growing the charging network. EV Connect will help ensure station reliability and access with comprehensive management and customer service, while Qmerit will provide private operators with the installation and maintenance support they need.

“We’re excited to bring our top-tier implementation and maintenance services to this partnership, laying the foundation for a robust and efficient charging network. With a 26% increase in publicly available EV chargers and a 59% surge in EV sales in the first three quarters of 2023, as reported by J.D. Power, our partnership aims to expand reservable infrastructure, catering to the rising demand for combined parking and charging solutions,” said Tracy Price, founder and CEO of Qmerit.

What Comes Next?

Over the next 12 months, a series of new agreements with major operators in the hospitality, events, and mixed-use sectors will be announced, together with details about where and when the unified system of parking and charging will be made available to the public. As a result, it is expected that thousands of new ports will be installed this year.

Zevtron and Chauntry Partner to Offer Groundbreaking EV Reservations Platform for Airports

April 02, 2024

Zevtron and Chauntry Partner to Offer Groundbreaking

EV Reservations Platform for Airports

Carlsbad, CA (April 2, 2024)—Zevtron, the innovative smart EV charging software and hardware solutions provider, and Chauntry, the parking reservations leader, today announced a partnership to enhance airport EV charging services. This innovative solution leverages Zevtron’s industry-leading smart EV charging software within the existing Chauntry Parkspace reservation system, enabling EV drivers to effortlessly reserve charging stations before their flights. Unlike other EV charging reservations platforms, Parkspace utilizes Zevtron’s industry-leading smart EV charging software, which allows airports to monetize EV charging, keeping all the revenue generating by charging infrastructure.

“This is an important breakthrough for airports,” said Bob Andrews, founder of Zevtron. “Now airports can retain total control over the EV assets for which they are offering prebooking. It’s no longer necessary for airports to cede control over EV charging to closed technology providers if they want to offer EV reservations. Not only will this improve airport EV services, but it will also open up new revenue streams.”

Airports can add EV charging to their existing Chauntry Parkspace portals or, if they don’t yet offer parking prebooking, they can partner with Chauntry to launch Parkspace with EV charging.

“As airports have rebounded from the pandemic, parking prebooking has become essential for improving the travel experience,” said Theresa Hughes, managing director of Chauntry. “Now, the same limited inventory challenges that make parking prebooking necessary are presented by EV charging. If you’re driving an EV to catch a flight, the last thing you need is to arrive at the airport, only to find that there are no EV chargers available. Now, airports can remove travelers’ uncertainty over whether they’ll be able to charge their EV, and the anxiety that uncertainty can cause.”

Reserving EV charging with Parkspace is simple. When flyers log into the airport’s parking portal to reserve a parking space, there will be an option to reserve charger space as well. It’s simply a matter of clicking the EV button. Then, when they arrive at the airport parking facility, they merely drive to their EV charging station, scan the code provided by the prebooking platform, and begin charging. When they return from their trip, their account will automatically be debited for both charging and the parking session. For flyers who are taking longer trips, the platform can be integrated with valet services, and the vehicle can be moved to a regular parking area when it’s fully charged.

Charging is powered by Zevtron’s industry-leading smart charging software. The software provides airports complete control over their charging stations and allowing them to collect and keep all the revues generated by EV charging.

Miami Beach, Fla., Feb. 08, 2024 — Blink Charging Co. (NASDAQ: BLNK) (“Blink” or the “Company”), a leading global manufacturer, owner, operator, and provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and services, announced today that the Company will be installing 20 IQ 200 chargers across four downtown parking garages in the City of Frederick, MD, for residents and visitors to utilize. A ribbon cutting event will mark the installation of the chargers on February 8, 2024, from 11:00-12:00 p.m. EST at the East All Saints parking garage located at 125 E All Saints St. in downtown Frederick.

The installation of 20 charging stations across the four designated parking garages – East All Saints, Carroll Creek, Court Street, and West Patrick – is a result of the City of Frederick’s plan to cater to the charging needs of residents lacking home charging options and visitors to the city. This strategic placement enables convenient vehicle charging for individuals during their downtown visits. These garages are strategically located near key retail, dining, and residential areas within the City of Frederick, enhancing accessibility for users.

“This expansion provides Blink Charging with the opportunity to expand our charging solutions into bustling cities, like Frederick,” said Mike Battaglia, Chief Operating Officer of Blink Charging. “Our mission is to meet electric vehicle drivers, whether residents or visitors, with the convenience of charging on-the-go. We look forward to electrifying the City of Frederick and revolutionizing the future of transportation in the city.”

The collaboration between Blink Charging and the City of Frederick signifies a groundbreaking advancement in the expansion and innovation of EV charging infrastructure. The City of Frederick Department of Economic Development is the proprietor and operator of all four parking garage locations. In a bid to enhance service, it is introducing membership options for residents, ensuring secured access to charging spots, granting them the flexibility to charge their vehicles at their convenience. This initiative is designed to cater to residents and frequent visitors to Frederick, providing added convenience for their trips to the city.

“Frederick attracts nearly 2 million outside visitors per year on top of local transient trips by residents and workers, and in 2023 alone, we saw an uptick of 50% in the number of trips made by EVs. Our downtown parking system, ParkFrederick, strives to be easy to use so the city can continue to encourage tourism spending and prioritize expanding employment. The 20 new Blink chargers represent a huge step toward Frederick providing more charging options.” said Richard Griffin, Director of Economic Development for the City of Frederick.

“The introduction of these new EV charging stations within our downtown parking garages will enhance the convenience of EV ownership and reaffirms the City’s dedication to reducing our carbon footprint,” said Mayor of Frederick, Michael O’Connor. “Efforts like these are why I believe that together with Blink, we are powering Frederick towards a greener, more sustainable future.”

“We’re so excited to offer EV charging options for both residents and visitors alike,” said Jenny Willoughby, the City’s Sustainability Manager. “These chargers will contribute to the reduction of tailpipe emissions and ultimately help improve air quality in the city and the broader region.”

“Increasing the number of EV charging stations is a crucial step toward improving equitable access to clean energy and transportation. The Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition is proud to have supported this important initiative to ensure that all communities have access to EV chargers,” said Antoine M. Thompson, CEO/Executive Director of the Greater Washington Region Clean Cities Coalition.

Blink, under the Mid-Atlantic Electrification Partnership through Virginia Energy, recently deployed charging stations in Frederick. These Level 2 (L2) charging stations, strategically placed across six hotel locations in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland, cater to EV drivers, providing them the convenience of charging on-the-go during their visits. Blink’s initiative in the City of Frederick contributes to making EV charging more convenient and accessible for electric vehicle drivers.

Zevtron Completes EV Charging Installation in Culver City

Zevtron Completes EV Charging Installation in Culver City

Culver City, CA —Zevtron, a Carlsbad, California-based smart EV charging software and hardware solutions provider, announced today that it has completed the installation of a new EV charging project in a Culver City, California business complex. This innovative project allows the complex owner to manage or restrict access to the chargers by tenant. Currently, the EV chargers are utilized by a state agency to recharge employee and fleet vehicles.

“This was a very innovative project, and I think it illustrates what the future of EV charging will look like at complexes with multiple tenants or user types,” said Zevtron founder Bob Andrews. “Our software permits the owner to manage who is authorized to use the EV chargers and when they can use them. In the future, the owner will be able to add additional authorized users or further limit use, based on individual tenant agreements. This can be great strategy for building and complex owners wishing to monetize EV charging.”

The installation featured five stations of 30-amp dual port chargers. The chargers are controlled by leveraging Zevtron’s industry leading software, which provides the flexibility to manage unique use cases on each individual charger.

“Use case management is a game changer,” said Andrews. “Say you have five tenants using your chargers, and some pay a flat rate for charging in their leases while others pay by kilowatt hour as needed. Or say some tenants want EV charging included in their leases and others don’t. The software allows you to create those different use cases and manage the charging relationship exactly how you and your tenants wish. For owners who monetize their EV charging, the software also allows you to establish different rates and process payment. This is an extraordinary level of control for owners.”

NEW YORK, Oct. 23, 2023  — ABM (NYSE: ABM), a leading provider of facility services, infrastructure solutions, parking management and electric vehicle (“EV”) charging solutions, has completed the rollout of its proprietary ABM EV Charging Network, powered by its cloud-based ABM EV OS software in collaboration with Noodoe. Further elevating ABM’s comprehensive single-source EV infrastructure solutions, this network will unlock personalized customer experiences while improving EV charger uptime.

Amid a recent nationwide decline in driver satisfaction with public Level 2 charging, facility owners and operators across industries have been challenged to provide new solutions that recognize the importance of service, maintenance, and driver experience when installing and maintaining public EV chargers.

A recent report by J.D. Power indicated roughly one in five public charging attempts fail, leading to driver frustration and dissatisfaction.

To combat this trend, ABM is proud to announce the nationwide roll out of its EV Charging Network to pair with its other customized turnkey solutions for virtually every commercial application, allowing for the design and implementation of the right EV strategy. This comprehensive approach encompasses charger equipment, installation, maintenance, and upgrades, ensuring a seamless and reliable EV charging experience for both facility owners and drivers.

“As America continues its path toward an electric future, intelligently connected infrastructure will be a critical enabler to keep up with the demands of a rapidly growing user-base,” said Mark Hawkinson, President of Technical Solutions, ABM. “As one of the nation’s largest providers of custom EV solutions, including installation, management, and maintenance, we provide a unique perspective on how the EV ecosystem needs to function to better serve customers and enhance value to owners and operators.”

Facility owners and operators leveraging the ABM EV Charging Network will be able customize the features offered through their chargers with integrations such as customer loyalty programs, entry badges, and parking systems. This software enables clients such as hotels or retail stores to directly connect their parking lot chargers to rewards programs, and private operators to ensure that only authorized drivers are using their chargers. The software also supports various digital payment processing options, including card, QR code, or ABM app, optimizing revenue and customer experience.

To promote improved charger uptime, chargers on the network receive 24/7 charging service delivery, monitoring, diagnostics, and recovery. Combining the network services with ABM’s expert maintenance services provides owners and operators with real-time diagnosis and rapid repair for any issues that occur over a charger’s lifetime.

The ABM EV Charging Network allows for real-time updates and enhancements to its charging stations, granting them continuous access to the latest features.

With over 30,000 chargers installed to date, ABM is expanding its solutions through this network, which can be paired with its Level 2 and 3 charging stations and hardware to meet the needs of today’s drivers. ABM’s experts provide integrated turnkey solutions, including facility review, project mapping, financing, charging equipment, installation, ongoing support, and continuous guidance. Additionally, through ABM RavenVolt’s turnkey microgrid solutions, ABM can provide energy and power resiliency.

While the majority of ABM’s installations to date have been in private commercial settings, as ABM’s public EV charging network grows across the U.S., drivers will be able to find charger locations and seamlessly charge, pay, and monitor all through the ABM EV OS app, which is now available for download on iOS and Android devices. In addition to the app, all public ABM chargers offer the straightforward “Scan, Pay, and Charge” option for an effortless user experience.

Blink Charging Selected by Jon Henry General Store to Supply EV Charging Solutions at Historic Location in New Market, Virginia

Electric vehicle drivers will be able to charge up on the new Blink chargers and enjoy Jon Henry’s farmer’s market at a ribbon cutting event on September 27, 2023.

Miami Beach, Fla., Sept. 27, 2023  — Blink Charging Co.(NASDAQ: BLNK) (“Blink” or the “Company”), a leading global manufacturer, owner, operator and provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging equipment and services, announced today that the Company will be installing six Level 2 (L2) chargers at Jon Henry’s General Store in New Market, Va. A ribbon cutting event will mark the installation on September 27, 2023, from 4 – 5 p.m. EST at Jon Henry’s General Store at 9383 N. Congress St. in New Market, Va.

The installation of three Blink IQ 200 Advanced chargers and three Blink IQ 200 Smart chargers at Jon Henry’s General Store reinforces Blink’s commitment to the Mid-Atlantic Electrification Partnership (MAEP). The Mid-Atlantic Electrification Partnership is focused on creating a regional EV ecosystem in Virginia, West Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland to connect the Mid-Atlantic Region’s cities. This will enable the utilization of all sizes of EVs (light, medium and heavy duty) for fleets, transportation network companies, and consumers alike. Blink’s ongoing collaboration with MAEP involves the deployment of a total of 200 networked 19.2kWh L2 chargers in the region through 2024.

“The Mid-Atlantic region’s transportation will be electrified through community-centric charging stations,” said Jim Nemec, Chief Revenue Officer for Blink Charging. “Our work with Jon Henry’s General Store is a perfect example of meeting EV drivers where they are with targeted charging convenience. We look forward to electrifying New Market and bringing the future of transportation to a historic location.”

Jon Henry’s General Store opened in 2018 in Virginia’s New Market district. The general store made its home in New Market’s oldest building, acquired the adjacent Weaver Hotel property, and is now complementing both with the latest in EV charging technology. The collaboration between Blink Charging and Jon Henry’s General Store marks an intersection of tradition and innovation. Known for their emphasis on Fair Trade, working locally with over 200 farmers, growers, bakers, and locals to keep stocked locally, Jon Henry’s General Store is focused on making positive community impacts and building connections – in line with Blink Charging’s mission to do its part in slowing climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions caused by transportation.

“We are excited to offer another amenity to our customers and community. It’s exciting to see folks stopping in our town to explore while their car charges,” said Jon Henry, Owner of Jon Henry General Store. “We’ve received positive feedback from our guests that the Weaver Hotel rooms are booked specifically for the chargers. We found working with Blink to be a great experience and easy to integrate into our footprint in noninvasive ways.”

The installation of Blink chargers at Jon Henry’s General Store is the latest installation made by Blink under the Mid-Atlantic Electrification Partnership. Blink has placed Level 2 (L2) charging stations across six hotel locations in Virginia, Washington D.C., and Maryland. L2 charging stations are well-suited for EV drivers to charge their vehicles while visiting retail, entertainment, and travel destinations. Blink and Jon Henry’s General Store are able to lead and innovate within their industries by making EV charging as convenient and accessible as possible.

Today’s announcement follows Blink’s Q2 2023 earnings release, the strongest in Company history, which saw total revenues increase to nearly $33 million for the quarter. Blink also announced it raised its 2023 revenue target from $100 – $110 million to $110 – $120 million and is targeting a positive adjusted EBITDA break-even run rate by December 2024. Blink’s growth is notable, as it places the Company among the relatively few U.S. companies that have adopted a vertically integrated approach to electric vehicle (EV) charging. Blink not only manufactures and sells charging equipment but also operates a network of chargers connected to its infrastructure.
