FLASH Acquires Ballparc Event Parking Management and Enforcement Solutions Provider

Acquisition integrates Ballparc’s parking products and platform with the market’s most dynamic end- to-end mobility hub operation system

Austin, Texas – June 22, 2022 – FLASH, the global leader in cloud parking software and mobility transformation, announced the acquisition of Ballparc, a leading developer of event parking revenue control and enforcement systems. The acquisition reinforces FLASH’s commitment to bringing parking asset owners and operators the tools to transform isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs and participate in the emerging mobility marketplace.

Since the start of the pandemic, sports and entertainment venues have sought out an integrated and flexible solution to manage event parking inventory, including presales, season tickets, and drive-ups. The Ballparc acquisition expands FLASH’s position as the cloud-based solution provider for event venues of all sizes, looking for a cost-effective way to digitalize their operation. The acquisition also expands FLASH’s product portfolio for sports and entertainment assets alongside FLASH’s gated and ungated solutions, prior acquisition of ZipPark, and rapidly expanding partner network, including Ticketmaster, AXS, and Major League Baseball.

“Bringing the Ballparc team and their event and enforcement partners on board is another key step to expanding our parking and demand management platform for all types of assets,” stated Dan Sharplin, CEO and Executive Chairman of FLASH. “We admire the approach that Ballparc has taken with their customers over the last ten years and are committed to continued delivery of seamless experiences that grow and diversify their revenue.”

Ballparc launched its Ballparc Event product in 2012 and has remained a leader in providing a cost-effective, flexible system to manage event parking for local and community parking lot operators. Ballparc Event allows these operators to accept a variety of payment methods and make operational decisions based on real-time data to boost revenue and streamline operations. Two years later, the company launched Ballparc Enforcement to help operators upgrade legacy enforcement systems to a modern end-to-end violation management platform.

“A customer-innovation mindset, ability to quickly deploy customizable solutions, and providing a seamless experience are all areas where Ballparc and FLASH are 100 percent aligned,” said Taylor Chapman, CEO of Ballparc. “We are excited to join the FLASH family and look forward to continuing to provide our customers and more operators like them with the most innovative and productive parking management and enforcement technology platform in the industry.”

Today, FLASH powers over 10,000 customer locations across all major U.S. cities and Canada, processing over 15 million parkers per month and $1.5+ billion in annual transactions. FLASH Acquires NYC parking tech leader Ticketech

Acquisition accelerates future-ready technology for Ticketech customers and integrates the end-to-end journey for drivers in the most dynamic mobility market on earth

NEW YORK, New York – April 27, 2022 – FLASH, the global leader in cloud parking software and mobility transformation, today announced the acquisition of Ticketech, the parking technology leader in New York City. The acquisition expands the network of customers running FLASH’s Mobility Hub Operating System and connects New York City’s $22 billion dollar parking market to the emerging mobility marketplace.

Ticketech has powered New York City’s attended valet operations since revolutionizing parking revenue control in the 1970s. Ticketech enables over 700 parking locations and processes over 20 million transactions per year for local parking operators, regional and national enterprise operators, and real estate owners. Their digital platform and automated vehicle recognition system allow for a seamless, mobile-first parking experience. They also maintain key integrations and partnerships with accounting systems, payment providers, demand aggregators, and other key stakeholders.

Launched in 2011, FLASH is the leading provider of cloud-born parking technology for managing parking, enabling digital driver engagement, and introducing new mobility services. FLASH gives asset owners and operators the tools to transform isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs that connect to the emerging marketplace for digital mobility. FLASH’s adaptable software and future-ready hardware create seamless driver experiences to grow and diversify revenue with the lowest total cost of ownership in the industry. Real estate owners, parking operators, and cities leveraging FLASH’s platform are equipped to optimize supply and demand for urban mobility, eliminate the fragmented customer journey, and tackle the most pressing societal issues like congestion and pollution.

New York City is the most dense and mode-diverse mobility ecosystem in the world. With myriad ways of getting around comes complex challenges and potential solutions, ranging from congestion pricing, demand for reservable EV charging, and the inevitable expansion of personal mobility vehicles. The NY parking market is a juggernaut with a direct economic output of $22 billion annually, dwarfing Los Angeles and Chicago by two-fold, and accounting for 17.5% of the US parking industry’s annual revenue. Ticketech’s NY-specific solution combined with FLASH’s mobility hub operating system is the necessary integration layer to create a seamless ecosystem for every smart city stakeholder.

“When we founded FLASH, the parking industry was poised for transformation, and digital mobility platforms were nascent. Today we are rapidly future-proofing urban mobility infrastructure by providing an agile, cloud-based, mobile-first platform for the opportunities facing drivers, utilities, asset owners, and parking operators,” stated Dan Sharplin, CEO, and Chairman of FLASH. “New York is the most dynamic global mobility market and we see massive opportunity in modernizing the New York parking and mobility industry. Ticketech shares our vision and is the perfect partner to tackle this unique, sizable opportunity.”

“Ticketech’s mission is to empower parking providers and we are excited to continue this mission. From that perspective it’s business as usual – we put our customers and partners first. From digital payments and camera-based machine vision to the proliferation of connected and electric vehicles, we see this investment as an opportunity to strategically position our operator partners to capitalize on these technologies- delighting their parkers, while lowering overhead costs and increasing revenue. We’re looking to do more, better, and faster,” shared Diego Cuenca, CEO of Ticketech.

FLASH will accelerate Ticketech’s technology innovations and operations, in addition to investing and expanding the NY-based team to help Ticketech’s customers tackle New York’s unique mobility challenges. As the Ticketech platform evolves, customers can offer a complete end-to-end digital journey leveraging FLASH’s demand partnerships, integrations including Auto OEMs, and layering established mobility extensions for personal and fleet EV charging, private scooter fleets, rideshare staging/charging, and more.

“With FLASH we will accelerate a rapid and necessary evolution across New York’s mobility landscape, enabling the transformation and growth of Ticketech’s operator partners with a fully-digitalized, seamless experience for New York parkers, while also elevating job opportunities within the industry,” Cuenca continued.

Today, FLASH powers over 10,000 customer locations across all major U.S. cities and Canada, processing over 11 million parkers per month and over $1 billion in annual transactions. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

FLASH’s Fortified Supply Chain Allows for Stabilized Pricing and Delivery

February 07, 2022

FLASH’s Fortified Supply Chain Allows for Stabilized Pricing and Delivery

The company demonstrates its commitment to the industry by ensuring ease of access and installation of its parking and mobility platform

Austin, TX – As global supply chain issues continue to affect businesses worldwide, and customers, including in the parking industry, feel the pain of protracted product delivery timelines coupled with inflation, FLASH is steadfast in its commitment to ensuring our customers can access future-ready technology at the prices they are accustomed without added costs.

During these challenging times, FLASH never wavered in its commitment to the industry and has been proactively safeguarding its business by:

  • Increasing production capacity with the opening of a 50,000 square foot warehouse in Austin, TX
  • More than doubling its workforce with new hires and acquisitions, with a focus on operational growth to support customer installs and maintenance. Growth areas include:
      • FLASH Affiliate Members (FAM): These locally contracted partners who help with installation and service work will continue to expand.
      • Field Implementation Team: Expected to double in size in 2022, FLASH’s team of installers work alongside FAM partners.
      • Field Ops Technicians: A critical addition to FLASH’s operations team, these technicians provide post- “go live” support, nationwide, and will more than double in 2022.
    • Investing in its supply chain to ensure access to key technology components

In addition to those commitments, FLASH is not constrained by its supply chain because it is primarily based in the United States. The company has no planned price increases, and has the capacity and inventory to help operators and asset owners digitalize and modernize their parking assets in as little as 3 weeks from order to “go live.”

“Already embattled by COVID, our customers are understandably fatigued and need solutions that can help them recapture lost revenue through optimizing and diversifying revenue as well as driving more demand to their parking assets, not the added strain of price hikes and shipping delays,” stated Dan Sharplin, CEO and Chairman of FLASH. “For the past 24-months, we’ve been doing everything that we can to fortify our supply chain, deliver the best technology in the industry, and support our customers with the best talent in the industry. The future is now, and we’re ready to be your technology partner.”

In further support of the industry, FLASH offers Hardware-as-a-Service for both its lines of PARCS equipment–-FLASH and Parkonect–and is rolling out EV Charging-as-a-Service. For more information contact sales@flasharpking.com.

WallyPark Teams Up with FLASH to Transform Airport Parking

November 02, 2021

WallyPark Teams Up with FLASH to Transform Airport Parking

The Challenge

WallyPark has been providing off-airport parking to travelers for over twenty years. When covid-19 threatened the way airlines had been running for decades, WallyPark knew that parking would have to change, too.

The Solution

To connect more than 100 lanes of equipment at 10 locations across the country on a single, cloud-based platform, WallyPark chose FLASH as a technology partner. From the touchless technology consumers wanted most at the height of the pandemic to the mobile management tools operators need to stay on top of day-to-day business.

FLASH provided a complete 21st century parking solution with:

When everything is changing so fast, FLASH putting innovation and tech at the forefront gives you peace of mind.

Charles Bassett, President of Operations for L & R Group of Companies

With the Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) pricing model, a program unique to FLASH, WallyPark was able to take what would typically be a capital expenditure and spread it across low monthly payments throughout the lifetime of the hardware. HaaS gives operations with an expansive national footprint the opportunity to invest in future-ready technology with an incremental investment.

The Result

On a completely automated system, WallyPark’s locations have seen a substantial reduction in cashier labor and growing revenues as accountability and collection capabilities increase. The move from paper tickets to an entirely digital system is more in tune with consumer expectations and allows WallyPark to take advantage of features like dynamic pricing.

Today, WallyPark can access real-time data insights across its nationwide portfolio and manage short term, monthly, and valet parking on a single platform. With its day-to-day operations optimized and automated, WallyPark is now turning its attention to future-ready technologies like AI and EV charging stations.

FLASH has worked tremendously for us, I think ongoing updates and HaaS are the way of the future.

Charles Bassett, President of Operations for L & R Group of Companies

FLASH Acquires OmniPark to Unlock Revenue Opportunities for Ungated and Gated Parking Real Estate

FLASH Acquires OmniPark to Unlock Revenue Opportunities for Ungated and Gated Parking Real Estate

Acquisition creates a no-risk, enforceable 21st century parking solution for asset owners and operators to modernize parking assets and capitalize on the economic comeback

Austin, TX and Spokane, WA – FLASH, the leader in flexible technology solutions for urban real estate, acquired OmniPark. This acquisition furthers FLASH’s mission of delivering parking solutions for every parking type. When OmniPark’s enforcement technology is paired with FLASH’s mobile-based payment products, asset owners and parking operators can deploy a fully digital parking solution for ungated parking assets.

“Our customers are seeing parking occupancy and drive-up rates surpassing pre-COVID levels, which presents value-creation opportunities for highly flexible real estate to transform via 21st century parking solutions,” states Dan Sharplin, CEO and Executive Chairman of FLASH. “The acquisition of OmniPark, best known for its cloud-based, fully integrated enforcement technology, when combined with our Scan-to-pay product or a kiosk provides a no-risk, enforceable surface lot solution to help asset owners unlock sizable revenue.”

Built by parking veterans, OmniPark’s parking software solutions provide over 3,000 ungated and gated locations the ability to efficiently manage permits, enforcement, vehicle inventory, and more. OmniPark delivers access to real-time data and actionable insights enabling their customers to respond quickly in today’s rapidly changing mobility landscape.

“Parking is a game of permissions, and today’s asset owners and parking operators must have the ability to digitally control access and enforce when parkers don’t follow those permissions,” said Kevin Uhlenhaker, CEO of OmniPark. “I couldn’t be more thrilled about the acquisition, which allows us to continue to serve our customers, while also enriching FLASH’s digital platform with a suite of enforcement and permitting solutions, which are critical for key verticals like municipalities, airports, and universities.”

“Kevin Uhlenhaker and the OmniPark team bring a wealth of parking knowledge to FLASH, which we will absolutely leverage for the good of our customers, especially as we continue to build out our touchless, enforceable surface lot solution at scale,” explained Sharplin.  “With this acquisition every bit of the fully digital parking puzzle is now complete.”

FLASH is dedicated to the success of OmniPark’s existing customers, who now have access to FLASH’s always-on support team. For current OmniPark customers, pricing and service will remain unchanged.

Nonprofit Partners with Mobile Parking Giants FLASH and ParkWhiz to Help Offset Cost of Parking for Chicago-area NICU Families

June 21, 2021

Nonprofit Partners with Mobile Parking Giants FLASH and ParkWhiz to Help Offset Cost of Parking for Chicago-area NICU Families

Chicago, IL  –The Jackson Chance Foundation goes high tech with new friends to spread its mission! The nonprofit proudly announces a partnership with mobile parking innovators FLASH and ParkWhiz to help spread its mission to make hospital parking for NICU families as easy and efficient as possible.

ParkWhiz app is a digital parking service that allows users to locate available parking spaces before reaching their destinations. No more stumbling to find parking tickets or dealing with parking machines when minutes matter most. In support of the Jackson Chance Foundation, ParkWhiz is promoting the mission of the foundation to its user base and providing the opportunity for donations.

Carrie Meghie, Jackson Chance Foundation co-founder said, “We are constantly looking for strategic partners to spread awareness of the Jackson Chance Foundation, the partnership with FLASH and ParkWhiz is a natural fit. It opens the door to educating the mission on how parking impacts NICU families and how the Jackson Chance Foundation fills that gap in Chicago.”

“Many hospitals define patient experience solely through clinical measures,” says Jonathan Isaacs, Vice President of Healthcare Sales at FLASH. “But the reality is that there are many environmental and psychological factors that contribute to a patient’s ability to get well, even more so when that patient is a newborn. Partnering with Jackson Chance Foundation was a great opportunity for us to support family involvement in the healing process.”

Visiting a baby in the NICU every day is just as important to recovery as the medical care they receive. But many families are unable to afford the transportation costs to make this a possibility, meaning many babies are left alone. Just one day of visitor parking, at a top Level IV Chicago NICU can cost upwards of $75.00, resulting in parking fees upwards of $1,000 per month. The average length of stay for a baby in a top NICU is 28 days, but the majority are there for months at a time. Jackson Chance Foundation believes this battle shouldn’t be fought alone or be plagued by additional burdens. Removing the financial burden of parking gives families the opportunity to be with their baby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“For NICU families, parking should be a forgettable experience, which is why FLASH is proud to be partnering with the Jackson Chance Foundation,” said Neil Golson, EVP of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships for FLASH. “We are fortunate that we can leverage the ParkWhiz platform to tap into our userbase and help support local Chicago families in need.”

This new partnership kicks-off in early June 2021 at all local Jackson Chance Foundation NICU parking locations, including Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, and most recently Rush University Children’s Hospital. The Jackson Chance Foundation will also continue to offer its traditional parking passes to NICU families.

About Jackson Chance Foundation (JCF)
At Jackson Chance Foundation, we remove the financial burden of parking fees, giving every family the opportunity to be with their child. Through our NICU Transportation Program, we partner with hospitals to provide complimentary parking passes for families with critically ill babies in the NICU. By providing these passes, we ensure that each NICU baby receives their basic human rights: advocacy, support, and human touch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In short, we give families access to the best hospitals, neonatal specialists, surgical abilities, and nursing staff that they otherwise may have to turn down because of the high cost of parking to get there. Our program is available at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital and most recently expanded to Rush University Children’s Hospital. To date, all admin costs are covered by the founders’ family in honor of their son Jackson Chance, for whom the foundation was started in his legacy. For more information, please visit www.jacksonchance.org. JCF is an Illinois non-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organization.

FLASH Acquired Parkonect to Accelerate Access to
21st Century Parking Technology

Acquisition creates an advantage for real estate owners to modernize their assets in a rapidly diversifying mobility ecosystem via digital, connected experiences with Legacy PARCS systems

June 16, 2021 (Austin, TX and Chicago, IL) – FLASH, the leader in flexible technology solutions for urban real estate, acquired Parkonect. This acquisition empowers real estate owners with wider access to 21st century parking technology that fits wherever their asset is along its digital transformation and mobility expansion.

Parkonect and FLASH are the only cloud-born, mobile-first parking technology companies delivering Parking Access and Revenue Control that continuously add new features and third-party integrations with over-the-air updates. Both companies help properties thrive in today’s rapidly shifting mobility ecosystem by facilitating connectivity and mobility in parking assets via real-time intelligence and digital commerce tools.

“FLASH is committed to deploying technology that empowers real estate owners to unlock the full value of their urban real estate, and that includes assets with legacy infrastructure as well as those looking to modernize their parking systems,” says Dan Sharplin, Executive Chairman and CEO of FLASH. “The acquisition of Parkonect lets the industry know that we believe access to flexible, agile parking solutions, no matter what PARCS system is in the ground, is vital for differentiating your asset in highly competitive urban core markets.”

“When Parkonect launched ten years ago, we set out to create an IoT, cloud-based platform that augmented the current parking technology layer. As a real estate developer, I knew first-hand how valuable this approach was to the traditional rip-and-replace model,” said Harlan Karp, CEO and founder of Parkonect. “Our future-ready system allowed asset owners to take a relatively risk-free step towards modernization, while proving out their investment. With FLASH, I look forward to continuing to deliver world-class solutions that allow asset owners to make lasting improvements to asset value.”

Parkonect will continue to advance its distinct product line and roadmap offering both Parkonect and FLASH customers more options for 21st century parking and asset management solutions. For current Parkonect customers, pricing and service will remain unchanged.

Karp continues, “We are thrilled to be a part of FLASH’s growing brand because we can focus on our passion – solve parking’s greatest challenges – with the added benefits of their world class operations, sales and marketing teams.”
