FlashParking Introduces Revolutionary Hardware-as-a-Service Purchasing Model with No Long-Term Contracts and a Future-ready Operating System

With HaaS, FlashParking takes on the financial risk so asset owners and operators can access the latest and greatest in mobility technology and avoid obsolescence

Austin, TX (MARCH 5, 2020) – Today, parking asset owners and operators have a chance to leap into the 21st century and get ahead of the technology curve with the launch of FlashParking’s Hardware-as-a-Service, a purchasing model with no long-term contracts. FlashParking is minimizing risk exposure for asset owners and operators that ensure today’s investment provides an efficient, intelligent, and future-ready platform.

FlashParking’s HaaS model wraps 21st century parking technology, business intelligence, and a lifetime equipment warranty into a predictable monthly payment. This gives parking professionals an alternative to the hamster wheel equipment replacement cycle of seven to ten years. As asset owners and operators subscribed to FlashParking’s HaaS model discover new opportunities to diversify revenue and expand into new locations or markets, they can confidently grow their investment with upgrades and expansions without taking on more risk. Mandatory technology updates needed to maintain functionality and PCI compliance are included at no additional cost — a market first.

“We are at an inflection point in the market,” said Alan Poulton, EVP of Sales of FlashParking. “Everyone recognizes that customers, regardless of the industry, want technology delivered as a service. In parking, that means a solution free of the headaches of burdensome PCI compliance and unpredictable upgrades, like the Windows 7 end-of-life obsolescence. The launch of FlashParking’s Hardware-as-a-Service purchasing model delivers exactly that: a solution free of financial risk and antiquated, difficult-to-maintain technology. HaaS is a complete, future-ready, extensible solution with software updates and payment security managed on the customer’s behalf.”

By offering a standard package of hardware, software, maintenance, installation and other support services on a month-to-month pricing structure, FlashParking is creating tremendous value for asset owners and operators. Shifting these costs to an operating expense rather than a capital expense gives owners and operators the opportunity to align entire portfolios, standardize on a single operating system, and revamp static parking garages to become flexible mobility assets for success in the future.

At a time when consumer demands are rapidly evolving and the capital needed to meet those demands is scarce, FlashParking’s Hardware-as-a-Service (HaaS) purchasing model is eliminating risk, tearing down financial barriers, and opening the door to the future.

FlashParking Partners with Burroughs Service Network for a 21st Century Service Model

FlashParking Partners with Burroughs Service Network for a 21st Century Service Model

Parking technology leader, FlashParking, drastically expands service network with hundreds of Flash-certified Service Technicians

Austin, TX (January 27, 2020)FlashParking, the leader in parking technology, is pleased to announce a national service partnership with Burroughs, Inc. which is available to customers immediately. Complementing FlashParking’s self-service model, the company has trained and certified a network of over 600 Burroughs service technicians in hardware repairs and routine maintenance on kiosks.

Over the past four years, FlashParking’s cloud-based software, modern technology architecture and simple, intuitive maintenance has turned the parking industry’s antiquated service structure on its head. Unreliable proprietary technology, cumbersome maintenance contracts, and costly repairs were a major revenue driver for legacy service providers — until FlashParking gave owners and operators of parking assets another choice.

FlashParkings maintenance advantage stems from its core functionality that operates on software in the cloud, rather than hardware on the ground. Since the majority of functionality is programmed onto the operating system, hardware is minimal — and therefore the risk of hardware downtime is minimal. When components do need repairs or replacements, FlashParking’s plug-and-play kiosk design makes it easy to replace a single part in a matter of minutes with guidance from FlashParking’s support team.

However, if on-site attendants at locations operating on FlashParking are not able — or do not feel comfortable enough — to perform repairs, locations can now reach out to a Flash-certified Burroughs service technician to request repairs. Service technicians will be onsite within 4-6 hours for hardware complications that significantly disrupt operations, and for other replacements or repairs, Burroughs technicians will be onsite within 24 hours. Any necessary parts will be forward-deployed to facilitate this industry-leading service level.

Dannika Fifi, FlashParking’s Vice President of Client Services says, “We wanted to be confident that our network of technicians could deliver the consistent service and efficiency we demand for our customers. Burroughs has undoubtedly set the bar for service technicians across similar mission-critical operations and we are eager to shape their impact on the parking market, which has far too long been dominated by antiquated and costly maintenance processes.”

Burroughs is North America’s largest independent service organization for payment and transaction technology ecosystems for financial institutions, retail, gaming institutions, and hardware OEMs. Burroughs’ OEM-agnostic approach to technology and their extensive expertise of hardware components, such as those encased in FlashParking’s Smart Stations, allowed for less downtime — eliminating the need to replace entire machines.

“We are excited about our partnership with FlashParking. This allows Burroughs to enter a new and exciting market, and to do what we do best so that FlashParking can focus on their core business,” says Anson Martin, Burroughs’ CEO.”

This new partnership will flip the parking industry’s outdated standard for service on its head in favor of a more efficient model for an once service-dependent industry.

FlashParking Welcomes Jonathan Evens as
New Regional VP of Sales, Central Region

Industry veteran will leverage his 13 years of parking experience to grow Central US sales team and introduce Flash’s Mobility Hub Operating System to his core customer base

Austin, Texas (January 22, 2020) – FlashParking, the leader in parking technology, today announced the hiring of industry veteran Jonathan Evens as its Regional Vice President for the Central Region. As part of Evens’ new position at FlashParking, he will build out and manage a team that serves the South and Midwest states regions. Evens will leverage more than a decade of parking experience to nurture relationships with key customer accounts and introduce them to FlashParking’s Mobility Hub Operating System.

Evens comes to FlashParking from Evens Time, a well-respected parking technology reseller in Indianapolis, after serving as vice president of sales for 13 years. During his tenure at Evens Time, he quadrupled the company’s territory and helped the company grow the breadth of services offered to their core customer base. Evens has years of experience selling PARCS (Amano McGann, WPS), access control (Magnetic), and other parking technologies, like high speed pedestrian and vehicle doors (FAAC and Rytec), to his Midwest customer base, who’ve come to trust his value-added selling approach.

“In order to aggressively capture the market share that we have in our line of sight, adding industry parking veterans that are venerable and trusted, like Jonathan Evens, is absolutely critical to our success,” said Alan Poulton, EVP of Sales of FlashParking. “Spanning from Texas all the way up to Michigan, Evens will spearhead Flash’s central US strategic sales. Evens is a long-time colleague of mine and I’m excited to be working on the same team; we will all benefit from Evens’ deep industry insight and knowledge.”

Earlier this month, FlashParking unveiled its Mobility Hub Operating System, which powers the transformation of isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs. With mobility hubs, asset owners and operators can extend their current parking operation into a parking plus business model that enables every facet of mobility: eParking reservations and frictionless access, staging for TNCs, charging for electric vehicles, mobile-enabled valet, cleaning and servicing, drone launching and landing, and points for delivering. Evens will play a critical role in shaping the mobility hub conversation with his current Midwest customers as well as acting as a guide and coach to new customers in the South.

“I’m thrilled about the opportunity to work at FlashParking and take parking assets into the new age of mobility hubs,” said Jonathan Evens, new Central Region VP of Sales of FlashParking. “Flash’s Mobility Hub Operating System is paving the way for operators and asset owners to reap more financial benefits while enhancing the end user experience. At every level, Flash is adding tremendous value to the parking, valet and mobility population.”

Evens holds a B.A. in Selling and Sales Management from Purdue University.

FLASHPARKING SECURES $60 MILLION FROM L CATTERTON’S GROWTH FUND

FLASHPARKING SECURES $60 MILLION FROM L CATTERTON’S GROWTH FUND

Company to Aggressively Scale Cloud-Based Parking System for Cities and Real Estate Owners to Optimize Value and Tap into the Mobility Ecosystem

Austin, Texas and Greenwich, Conn., (January 15, 2020) — FlashParking, the leader in parking technology, today announced that it has received a $60 million strategic investment from the Growth Fund of L Catterton, the largest and most global consumer-focused private equity firm. The investment will be used to scale FlashParking’s industry-leading extensible, cloud-based parking system that enables 21st-century parking and the evolution of isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs.

Launched in 2011 as the industry’s first cloud-born parking technology, FlashParking is perfecting the parking experience with real-time data visibility and actionable intelligence, including supply data and dynamic pricing, to diversify revenue and deliver a frictionless experience. Today, FlashParking’s mobility hub operating system is the connective layer that transforms parking assets into multi-purpose mobility hubs where parking, transportation, mobility, and logistics intersect within a smart city environment. FlashParking’s operating system empowers real estate owners, parking operators, and cities to tackle complex mobility issues such as congestion, lack of visibility into supply and demand, and fragmented consumer experiences.

“FlashParking is a best-in-class parking solutions provider with proven technology and an industry-first cloud-based software solution,” said Michael Farello, Managing Partner, L Catterton Growth Fund. “We are pleased to partner with the FlashParking leadership team to accelerate the Company’s growth and facilitate the delivery of mobility services to consumers and businesses.”

The mobility industry is facing a paradigm shift that is moving the conversation toward systems that can support today’s and tomorrow’s mobility services rather than typical “to” and “from” mobility technologies. To get ahead of this evolution, in the coming months FlashParking intends to announce new partnerships with transportation, logistics, and mobility companies that are leveraging its platform.

“Over the last nine years, we have built the FlashParking platform with quality and adaptability in mind by making it cloud-based, mobile-first, and future-ready. This unique platform has allowed us to configure an operating system that’s not only the best solution for parking infrastructure today but also a model that’s ready for tomorrow,” said Juan Rodriguez, co-founder of FlashParking. “With this funding from L Catterton, we’ll be able to quickly scale our mobility hub operating system and become the only company that can turn customers’ parking assets into facilities that enable every facet of mobility, including mobile-enabled parking and valet, staging for TNCs, charging for electric vehicles, cleaning and servicing, drone launching and landing, and points for delivering.”

FlashParking’s ability to innovate the parking experience has never been more evident than through its partnership with Texas Medical Center (TMC), the world’s largest medical city. In May 2018, TMC chose FlashParking to help modernize its facilities and better respond to the evolving mobility ecosystem. Today, FlashParking’s mobility platform controls 30,000 parking spaces via 230 lanes across 34 facilities while simplifying parking, reducing congestion, improving traffic flow, and enhancing the experience for the more than 10 million patients, visitors, staff, and students who visit TMC annually.

In addition to TMC, FlashParking is delivering at an enterprise scale of more than 6 million parkers per month and processing $1 billion in transactions at more than 1,300 locations worldwide.

Rodriguez continued, “L Catterton has an unparalleled track record of building leading brands and rapidly scaling operations, which makes them the ideal partner for us as we grow and expand our business. We look forward to leveraging L Catterton’s expertise and experience scaling multi-sided marketplaces as we work together to build out connected mobile hubs that deliver value to all stakeholders.”

L Catterton has significant experience in investing globally in technology-enabled marketplaces and businesses. Current and past investments include ClassPass, Artsy, Vroom, Get Your Guide, and Enjoy.

CES Reveal: Mobility Hub Operating System from FlashParking is the Key for Smart Cities to Transition Parking Assets into Mobility Hubs

Single Platform for Real Estate Owners and Operators to Manage Mobility Hubs that
Deliver Parking Plus Mobility Services on Display Demoing at CES

January 7, 2020 (Las Vegas, NV) – At CES 2020, FlashParking, the leader in parking technology, will unveil their Mobility Hub Operating System: a platform powering the evolution of isolated parking assets into connected mobility hubs that are more efficient, intelligent, and adaptable than garages and surface lots of the past. From January 7th – 9th, FlashParking will demo how their operating system offers asset owners and operators a single management platform for maximizing parking asset value, diversifying revenue, and integrating into smarter cities.

The explosion of electric vehicles, ride-sharing services, and scooters coupled with the current trends of urbanization, e-commerce, electrification, and autonomy requires a significant infrastructure evolution to meet the growing demands of the mobility ecosystem of today and tomorrow. To face this problem head-on, FlashParking is elevating the role of parking assets in smart city environments by empowering to become modern hubs, where parking, mobility, logistics, and transportation intersect. With FlashParking’s Mobility Hub Operating System, built on Microsoft Azure, asset owners and operators can manage the threshold of these new connected mobility hubs through a cloud-based platform that delivers enhanced parking, unrivaled business intelligence, and mobility ecosystem extensibility.

“Trends in mobility are moving so fast that if each stakeholder tries to optimize the system for only their best interest, we risk grid-locking our city streets into one giant parking lot,” said Neil Golson, EVP of Marketing and Strategic Partnerships. “FlashParking’s vision to transform parking assets into mobility hubs that act as congestion capacitors, as multi-modal logistics hubs, and as a marketplace for busy consumers and their autonomous, electric vehicles is a simple and somewhat obvious solution to cleaning up the littered landscape and unlocking the smart city. Our EV charging demo with mobility partner EVgo at CES is just a sample of what’s possible with the power of our operating system that is helping build more efficient cities with parking infrastructure at the center.”

“As we work with local leaders to bring smart cities to life, integrating new and evolving forms of mobility in a sustainable way is a challenge, and we’re excited to collaborate with FlashParking to deliver enhanced parking and mobility services,” said Cameron Carr, Director, IoT Strategy, Scale Solutions and Smart City, Microsoft. “FlashParking’s Azure-based cloud platform delivers an extensible foundation of parking technology, robust business intelligence to inform strategy and the open-API architecture to connect with other smart city infrastructure.”

A mobility hub starts with the physical asset: parking garages and lots that have been a part of the city landscape for the last century. For the large part of that century, those parking assets remained isolated and stagnant while innovation in mobility surged – until now. FlashParking’s Mobility Hub Operating System is the foundation for these assets to become more than just parking; mobility hubs are configured to offer a strategic set of services based upon platform insight and intelligence. FlashParking’s technology platform is comprised of:

  • Mobile-first, Cloud-based Platform – Dynamic, future-ready system that delivers anytime, anywhere access and visibility across a portfolio for easier management, while a mobile-first approach creates a more modern, enhanced customer experience.
  • Real-time Visibility and Intelligence – Instantaneous insight and intelligence across every asset, from a single-site to an enterprise-level portfolio.
  • Frictionless Access – Effortless entry and exit for a world-class customer experience that keeps guests coming back.
  • Evergreen System – Over-the-air software updates deliver complete extensibility without any downtime and ensure you’re running the latest and best version of the platform.
  • Extensible Ecosystem of Partners – Open-API architecture enables assets to integrate with an ecosystem of partners that offer staging for TNCs, charging for electric vehicles, cleaning and servicing, drone launching and landing, and points for delivering.

increase business growth and partnership opportunities

In his new position at FlashParking, Golson will lead the company’s growth in the parking and mobility markets by crystalizing FlashParking’s vision for the role of parking within the smart city to life and by spearheading new partnerships.

While he brings a fresh perspective to the FlashParking organization, Golson also brings a deep understanding of the changing consumer expectations in transportation and logistics. Before FlashParking, he served as Tesla’s Head of Marketing & Sales Operations and was responsible for demand generation for residential energy generation, storage, and vehicle charging across all channels.

“There is an escalating need for infrastructure that meets modern mobility needs,” said Juan Rodriguez, CEO of FlashParking, “and using our mobility grid operating system to turn existing parking assets into hubs that support the broader ecosystem is the most realistic and qualified solution. At Tesla, Neil was instrumental in shifting the auto industry’s narrative around infrastructure and bringing to fruition a new vision for the future – and that’s why we’ve brought him in to spark that same paradigm shift in the parking and mobility industries.”

Golson’s powerful ability to cultivate shared narratives and establish collaborative relationships with industry experts is helping him to grow FlashParking’s network of mobility service partners. “Disruptive companies solve big, pervasive problems, and in the parking industry today, those problems all revolve around modernizing for today while anticipating a vastly different future in which electric and autonomous vehicles become fixtures of the landscape,” said Neil Golson, EVP of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships. “Tesla is known for prioritizing innovation above all, a practice that FlashParking shares. I admire FlashParking’s ability to apply simple solutions to complex business problems, and I am eager to help accelerate this smart city transition by bringing the mobility hub vision to life.”

Before joining Tesla, Golson was the Senior Director of Business Development for SolarCity and spent seven years working for The Coca-Cola Company leading the Coca-Cola brand in North America. His last role with Coca-Cola was managing the McDonald’s Division for the Asia Pacific, Middle East & Africa, where he was responsible for developing a regional supply chain to accelerate foodservice innovation in emerging categories such as coffee and smoothies.

“My goal at FlashParking is to leverage strategic partnerships and deliver solutions to start addressing the global mobility challenge quickly,” said Golson. “During my time in Asia, I witnessed firsthand how transformative even small-scale mobility initiatives can be. With our mobility grid technology, business intelligence, and ecosystem of partners, there is no doubt in my mind that FlashParking is going to make waves not just in parking but in so many adjacent industries and, most importantly, in our communities.”

Poulton will continue to rapidly expand the sales team and expand channels for FlashParking’s unique cloud-based mobility infrastructure platform.

Our mobility infrastructure platform connects owners and operators to an ecosystem of value-driven services that drive new revenue sources and customer loyalty. Poulton joins FlashParking from Amano McGann, where he served 12 years in multiple executive roles, including eight years as Senior Vice President of Sales and Operations. Additionally, Poulton served as President of the Amano Time and Security Division as well as Vice President of Sales. “For years, asset owners and parking operators have desired a single, unified platform through which they can consolidate and analyze their disparate management information. Unfortunately, they have had to work with very fragmented, cumbersome systems,” said Poulton. “FlashParking’s extensible architecture and cloud-based platform truly revolutionize the industry by providing customers and mobility partners comprehensive real-time, ecosystem data and sophisticated management tools.”

Alan holds a B.A. in Electrical Engineering Degree from Nelson Mandela University in Port Elizabeth, South Africa.

FLASHPARKING’S ENTERPRISE PLATFORM POWERS MOBILITY INITIATIVE AT TEXAS MEDICAL CENTER, THE WORLD’S LARGEST MEDICAL CITY

Industry leaders FlashParking and LAZ Parking partner to reduce congestion and improve mobility at Texas Medical Center, the largest paid parking facility in North America.

AUSTIN, TX— FlashParking, in partnership with LAZ Parking, announces the completion of a 200-lane Parking Access and Revenue Control System (PARCS) installation at Texas Medical Center (TMC)—the world’s largest medical complex—in just 44 days.

The system, operated by LAZ Parking, employs FlashParking’s industry-leading cloud-based parking and mobility solutions to control 30,000 parking spaces across 19 garages and 20 surface lots. FlashParking’s proprietary technologies simplify parking, reduce congestion, and improve traffic flow, ensuring efficient movement for emergency vehicles and enhancing the experience for the more than 10 million patients, visitors, staff, and students who annually visit TMC.

The project was installed with minimal operational disruption in just 44 days. Working closely in conjunction with LAZ Parking, FlashParking’s operations team deployed 200 entry/exit kiosks, 47 pay-on-foot kiosks, and 30 cash recycling machines – as well as upgrading the existing fiber network—staying ahead of schedule and on budget throughout the project.

“The Texas Medical Center is synonymous with world-class, innovative care and research, so it was imperative for us to partner with providers that would deliver equally innovative solutions to address our parking and mobility needs,” said Shawn W. Cloonan, COO of Texas Medical Center. “We chose FlashParking and LAZ Parking to not only help us modernize our facilities and deliver a best-in-class parking experience for our patients, visitors, and employees but also to help TMC better respond to the evolving mobility ecosystem.”

“At the largest paid parking facility in North America, we’ve again proven how quickly we can integrate industry-leading parking technology and provide top-tier services to forward-thinking parking operators,” said Juan Rodriguez, CEO of FlashParking. “Our shared vision with LAZ Parking and TMC is an ecosystem of future-ready mobility solutions that will evolve with technologies like driverless cars, ride-share services, and frictionless access to better serve the TMC community.”

Utilizing real-time data from FlashParking’s cloud-based platform, LAZ Parking can control its revenue and parking operations from virtually anywhere. A 61% drop in support calls since installation is a testament to the improved user experience. Thousands of users now access parking facilities via FlashParking’s frictionless FlashBeacon Bluetooth technology.

“After securing our contract with the prestigious Texas Medical Center, we knew we had to forge a bold partnership worthy of TMC’s sterling reputation,” said Steve Gresh, Head of Innovation and Technology of LAZ Parking. “Together with FlashParking, we have implemented an industry-leading parking system to usher TMC’s facilities into the future.”

FLASHPARKING’S ENTERPRISE PLATFORM TO POWER PARKWAY CORPORATION’S GARAGE PORTFOLIO, POSITIONING COMPANIES AS LEADERS IN MOBILITY ECOSYSTEM

FlashParking and Parkway Corporation partner to deliver future-ready parking and mobility solutions that help reduce congestion and improve traffic in cities across Parkway’s real estate portfolio

AUSTIN, TX, (March 6, 2019) — Parkway and FlashParking announce the parking industry’s first enterprise-wide partnership through which FlashParking has become the exclusive parking technology provider for Parkway Corporation’s owned garage portfolio. By standardizing on FlashParking’s enterprise platform, Parkway will improve customer experience through consistent operations and analytics across their portfolio. The company will leverage FlashParking’s real-time, cloud-based intelligence to help ease urban congestion in its operational markets, positioning the companies as leaders in the transition to integrated, mobility-as-a-service [MaaS] technologies and services.

Over the next six months, FlashParking’s operations team will deploy hundreds of entry/exit and pay-on-foot kiosks replacing Parkway’s current PARCS equipment from legacy providers. FlashParking’s proven direct installation model ensures that installations stay on schedule and budget – while ensuring consistent quality and standardized on-boarding processes without disrupting operations.

Within six months, Parkway’s leadership will have a 360-degree, real-time holistic view of all their owned parking assets. Access to real-time metrics—like supply, revenue, transactions, occupancy, and more—will allow them to proactively make better operational decisions on both a site and portfolio-wide level. Parkway will also capitalize on FlashParking’s future-ready system that can expand and support new capabilities as technology and customer demands evolve.  Parkway’s customers will experience a high-quality, frictionless parking experience with FlashParking’s FlashBeacon technology.

“As a business who has the ability to influence urban mobility significantly, it was imperative for us to work with a technology partner that could help us innovate to solve the growing congestion issues facing urban populations,” said Robert Zuritsky, CEO of Parkway Corporation and incoming Board Chairman of the National Parking Association (NPA). “Partnering with FlashParking at an enterprise-level will allow cities, like our hometown of Philadelphia, to benefit from the real-time data and business intelligence that can help win the war on congestion.”

“We are leading the transition to the future of parking which is a key element in the urban mobility industry, a concept which Parkway’s CEO, Robert Zuritsky, keenly understands. Zuritsky’s strategic decision to engage in an enterprise-wide technology solution will help Parkway not only achieve significant cost-savings and efficiencies, but it will further position the company as a leader in the urban mobility landscape,” said Juan Rodriguez, CEO of FlashParking. “FlashParking and Parkway, two American companies, working together will deliver an ecosystem of future-ready mobility solutions that will evolve with technologies like driverless cars, ride-share services, and frictionless access to better serve urban communities.”
