Fleet Advantage Secures Ten College Education Savings Accounts for Organization that Helps Drivers and Families in Crisis

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL  – This year’s National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (#NTDAW21) took on a new meaning, as the pandemic and other economic changes have continued to add significant challenges for America’s truck driving community. As a way to show its ongoing appreciation, Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing, and life cycle cost management (LCCM) became an official sponsor of truckersfinalmile.org by making a donation through its Kids Around The Corner foundation.

The truckersfinalmile.org mission aims to reunite North American truck drivers and their families in times of crisis. Each year they collect donations and unwrapped gifts to help children that have lost a parent who’s a truck driver out on the road and helps them cope during the holiday season.

Through its Kids Around The Corner foundation, Fleet Advantage became an official sponsor of the program this year, and the contribution helps secure a total of ten (10) college education savings accounts through the program’s Sleigh Bells and Santa initiative. It is their annual campaign during the holidays to help children that experience a loss of a parent truck driver out on the road and away from home. Many of these children suddenly find themselves in a single-parent household where changes and sacrifices are needed.

“Having the support of Fleet Advantage is appreciated greatly by not only our organization, but by the families in the trucking industry that we will be able to assist through your generosity,” said Robert Palm, Founder/CEO of truckersfinalmile.org. “The onset of COVID-19 took away one of our primary opportunities for fundraising – conferences and events. As a result, we rely on community-minded companies like Fleet Advantage to help these families in their time of need.”

“Truck drivers are so important to our economy and the health of the overall nation, and the pandemic has brought about even more challenges for them to do their jobs each day,” said Elizabeth Gomez, Marketing and Business Development Coordinator for Fleet Advantage, and Chairperson for the Kids Around the Corner committee. “It’s important to keep goods flowing right now, but it’s just as important to offer care, assistance and the means for truck drivers’ families to remain close to one another. We are proud to sponsor such a powerful organization whose mission serves these families when they need help the most.”

Recognized annually, National Truck Driver Appreciation Week (#NTDAW21) ran September 12-18, 2021, where companies and organizations across the country showed their tribute, appreciation and support for the nation’s drivers and their families.

The award honors female supply chain leaders whose accomplishments, mentorship and examples set a foundation for women in all levels of a company’s supply chain network.

Manin has been an influential, successful female professional in the transportation and supply chain industry for over six years. She plays a key role in the remarketing of used heavy-duty equipment into the marketplace through her extensive knowledge of customer service, banking, and outside sales. Manin has a proven record of exceeding forecasts and objectives using consultative and solution-based approaches. In an industry that is predominately led by men, the presence of women is even more sparse in sales-related roles such as Manin’s.

“Just this year, Fleet Advantage experienced its largest remarketing sales year yet, where Ludmila is the only woman on the team,” said Francis Maloney, Remarketing Sales Manager at Fleet Advantage. “In 2020, she was the top salesperson selling over $6.3 million dollars in off-lease equipment into the secondary marketplace – playing a direct and instrumental role in the financial integrity of our clients, which ultimately helped boost the global supply chain.”

Manin is passionate about educating the supply chain on remarketing strategies that can save organizations millions of dollars to their bottom line. Especially after a tumultuous past 18 months, she works to help supply chain leaders meet challenges with different remarketing sales tactics that help her customers better understand how to leverage their heavy-duty equipment and fleets. Manin hopes to set an example for women looking to get into the supply chain industry with both her continued leadership and mentorship.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive is the only publication covering the entire global supply chain. This year’s list of award recipients includes individuals from software and service providers, consultancies and academia, trucking and transportation firms, professional development agencies, sourcing and procurement divisions, and more.

“These women are just absolutely amazing in so many ways. They’ve re-tooled, re-innovated and revamped how the world sees the supply chain and logistics industry. They’ve paved the way for future female supply chain leaders to become a part of an industry that matters. Because women in the supply chain matter. And, some of these women are young, which means, they’re just getting started,” says Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “I’m honored to recognize and celebrate the achievements of so many female supply chain leaders.”

Fleet Advantage Offering Complimentary Comparative Cost Analysis and Consultations

CLEVELAND (September 13, 2021) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing, and life cycle cost management (LCCM) is exhibiting at the American Trucking Association’s TMC Fall Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition in Cleveland from September 12-16. Fleet Advantage will be addressing fleet executives’ focus on driver retention, lowering emissions, and the increased need for more flexibility in truck lease structures.

As Fleet Advantage will illustrate at the TMC event in booth #7004, more fleet executives are leasing their trucks to shorten their life cycle and lower their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO). The company recently completed its annual benchmarking survey and found that 31% of fleet respondents are leasing their trucks, significantly up from last year when only 14% of fleet executives said they were leasing.

However, lease structure is a major area of concern for many as 28% of fleets are in an unbundled lease agreement and “see greater value on flexible fuel and maintenance costs”. This compares to 20% who say they are locked in a full-service lease with some saying they are “trying to escape the contract because of inflexible costs on fuel and maintenance”.  Additionally, 41% of fleet executives say the supply of new trucks and inventory challenges have altered their truck procurement plans due to lead times.

In addition to procurement strategies and lease structures, there are many challenges affecting transportation fleet operations. Visit Fleet Advantage at booth #7004 for a Complimentary Comparative Cost Analysis or a Consultation! Fleet Advantage’s certified truck professionals will be assisting fleets by offering solutions to both company-specific and industry-wide issues affecting daily operations.

“Flexibility and agility are important business strategies uncovered during 2020, and fleets that position themselves with the flexibility to adapt to changes in today’s business climate have a significant competitive advantage,” said Don Davis, Senior Vice President, National Accounts.

Latest Fleet Advantage Industry Benchmark Survey Shows Fleets Are Focused On Truck Acquisition Challenges, Emissions Reduction Plans and Lease Structures

Leasing Shows Gains; Fleets See Fuel Economy, Maintenance and Driver Retention As Biggest Motivators for Truck Replacement

FORT LAUDERDALE, FL (September 8, 2021) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing, and life cycle cost management (LCCM) today announced results of its latest fleet industry benchmarking survey showing how trends in fuel economy, maintenance, environmental concerns and procurement strategies have changed since last year. Click here for full survey responses.

Procurement Strategies & Lease Structure Are Top-of-Mind
According to this year’s survey, 41% of fleet executives say the supply of new trucks and inventory challenges have altered their truck procurement plans due to lead times. Seventeen percent have begun to identify alternate procurement strategies in the acquisition of new trucks. Another 17% say the inventory challenges mean they may hold onto current trucks even longer than normal, which may be detrimental to their Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Thirty-one percent of respondents said they are leasing their trucks, significantly up from last year when only 14% of fleet executives said they were leasing. However, lease structure is a major area of concern for many as 28% are in an unbundled lease agreement and “see greater value on flexible fuel and maintenance costs”. This compares to 20% who say they are locked in a full-service lease with some saying they are “trying to escape the contract because of inflexible costs on fuel and maintenance.”

Lastly, 68% stated they are monitoring possible tax policy changes as part of their procurement strategies.

Maintenance, Fuel Economy and Driver Retention Remain Biggest Motivators for Truck Replacement
Sixty-four percent of fleet executives report costs associated with maintenance and repair (M&R), and 44% say improved fuel economy are the leading motivators for truck replacement. This is similar to last year when 55% of fleet executives cited M&R and 47% said improved fuel economy. This is interesting since 17% of fleets are considering holding onto their older, more inefficient trucks even longer than normal because of the current inventory challenges of new trucks as previously mentioned.

A new comment in this year’s survey because of pandemic-related business challenges, 31% of fleet executives said their biggest motivator for procurement was to right-size the number of trucks in their fleet to align with economic conditions, which changed rapidly during the pandemic in 2020. Other motivators included more safety features added by OEMs, the importance of improved corporate image and the conservation of natural resources/lower CO2 emissions through newer clean-diesel engines. This is reinforced in the National Private Truck Council’s (NPTC) 2021 Benchmarking Study which said 89% of fleets are investing in greening initiatives.

Furthermore, driver retention was the third-largest motivator to replace aging trucks, and in addition to new equipment, compensation and driver benefits were also listed as beneficial for driver retention.

Electrification Remains in the Distance for Fleets
The majority of fleets continue to believe clean-diesel technology remains more viable for emissions reduction than a move to electric vehicles. More than half of fleet respondents (54%) said they may consider electric class-8 trucks for over-the-road between 5-10 years from now, and only 3% of fleet executives are currently procuring electric trucks today. A year ago, 30% of respondents said they do not see electric trucks widely in service for another 10 years. Regarding autonomous trucks, 53% said they don’t see these widely in use for another 10 years (62% last year).

“Our annual benchmarking study provides us and the industry with a close look at the issues that are most important to fleet executives today, and the decisions that are helping to shape their business strategies,” said John Flynn, CEO of Fleet Advantage. “This year’s study shows that procurement strategies, an emphasis on unbundled leasing, specific replacement motivators and a stronger focus on environmental, social, governance (ESG) are all critical for fleets today.”

The Business of the Year awards, now in its 24th year, gives recognition to South Florida’s most dynamic businesses who share a commitment to professional excellence, growth, and the community.

Initiatives That Helped Customers in 2020

Fleet Advantage was nominated for its role in serving as a leader to the nationwide transportation industry, with pioneering programs and initiatives that helped keep America’s heavy-duty truck fleets operational for the delivery of food, medicine and other goods during a difficult 2020. The year was marked by the need for agility and ingenuity and Fleet Advantage’s numerous initiatives helped customers navigate a tumultuous 2020 with innovative programs that preserved bottom-line profits for customers.

The company’s pioneering Sale-Leaseback initiative helped to immediately improve cash flow for several transportation fleet clients or to downsize, depending on the industry. The program helped fleets to remain flexible and operationally focused during 2020, while also keeping an eye to forward-thinking and competitive positioning for a rebounding economy. As a result, Fleet Advantage saw its Lease Origination volume increase by 37% over 2019 to $455MM and over 3,900 semi-tractors.

Enhancing Safety As A Corporate Mission

In June of 2020, Fleet Advantage unveiled its Safety First Program, helping companies mitigate risk and upgrade into newer trucks with advanced safety technology. By focusing on safety proactively, Fleet Advantage is advising companies about risk that they may otherwise not likely identify, as well as a solution that could save millions of dollars in cost reduction while avoiding damage to their corporate image and brand identity. This is instrumental in helping Fleet Advantage, as well as its client partners, achieve their corporate Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) objectives.

The Company Leads With Innovation

Innovation through data analytics and technology has always been a core fabric of Fleet Advantage, and the company continued to lead with innovation in 2020. The company’s  proprietary ATLAAS (Advanced Truck Lifecycle Administrative Analytics Software) platform continues to help transform how private truck fleets and for-hire carriers operate, manage, and evaluate fleet costs through several strategic advancements and new solutions.

Corporate Culture & Diversity Measures

Leadership and corporate culture had as much to do with Fleet Advantage’s successful 2020 as well as its innovative programs. Fleet Advantage believes that the long-term success of any business calls for a diverse body of talent that can bring fresh ideas, perspectives, and viewpoints into the workplace. Fleet Advantage executives strive to create a culture of diverse individuals from all races, genders, education levels, and cultural backgrounds. The company prides itself on recognizing the importance of diversity and currently has a workforce represented by 44% female and 36% minority professionals on its staff.

“We are thankful to be recognized and selected as a finalist for Business of the Year,” said Brian Holland, President and CFO of Fleet Advantage. “Our staff works tirelessly to serve our customers and the industry, and they are dedicated to representing the company through their local communities and foundations.”

Fleet Advantage Recognizes National Roadside Traffic Safety Awareness Month By Promoting Important Safety Features Included on Today’s Trucks

Fleet Advantage Recognizes National Roadside Traffic Safety Awareness Month By Promoting Important Safety Features Included on Today’s Trucks

Upgrading To Newer Trucks Helps Ensure the Use of Advanced Safety Technologies Advocated By Leading Transportation & Safety Organizations

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 27, 2021) – According to recent data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), heavy-duty truck-related crash fatalities in 2020 declined by 2% after years of increases. Fleet Advantage continuously promotes the vast improvements safety technologies have brought to keep heavy-duty truck drivers and motorists safer in recognition of July as National Roadside Traffic Safety Awareness Month.

According to a June 2020 report by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the average size of verdicts increased 967% from $2,305,736 in 2010 to $22,288,000 in 2018.

In 2020, Fleet Advantage introduced its Safety First Program that focuses on safety proactively by shortening equipment life cycles to onboard new safety technology more rapidly. Safety technologies include collision avoidance, lane departure and blind spot assist to keep drivers and other motorists safer, while also reducing exposure to expensive litigation.

These safety technologies continue to be a distinct focus on the vast majority of new trucks for Fleet Advantage’s clients in 2021. In fact, this year approximately 98% of all Fleet Advantage leased trucks include advanced Lane Departure technologies; 95% include Collision Avoidance; and 81% include Blindspot Assist. Furthermore, 82% of Fleet Advantage leased trucks also include Front disc brakes and Rear disc brakes.

Collision Avoidance in particular has been identified by both the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) as well as the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)/Highway Loss Data Institute (HLDI). In fact, a study from the IIHS / HLDI concludes that forward collision warning helped in a 22% reduction in the rate of police reportable crashes per vehicle miles traveled, along with a 44% reduction in reported rear-end crash rates of large trucks.

The NTSB has been illustrating the benefits of advanced safety technologies such as collision mitigation for more than a quarter century. The board believes an estimated 50% of all rear-end collisions for both cars and trucks could be prevented if vehicles have forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking systems. The NTSB continues to place collision mitigation and other safety technologies on its biennial “Most Wanted List of Transportation Safety Improvements”.

While fleets today realize the significant impact these safety technologies are having on saving lives, they are also experiencing a noticeable return on their investment in safety in about 16 months. This has shortened from our analysis from September 2020 of 24 months.

“For the last few years we’ve taken great pride in helping our fleets become the youngest in the industry with the most reliable trucks,” said Katerina Jones, Vice President, Marketing and Business Development at Fleet Advantage. “We’re proud to know safety is just as important, and we are making great strides to ensure that our fleets are putting their drivers in the safest trucks on the road today.”

Fleet Advantage Announces Several Milestones Achieved During Its Fiscal Year Ending June 30

Life Cycle Cost Management (LCCM) Solutions Helped Fleets Adapt To Rapidly Changing Market Dynamics During Challenging 2020 and Recent Economic Rebound

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (July 12, 2021) – Fleet Advantage, a leading innovator in truck fleet business analytics, equipment financing, and Life Cycle Cost Management (LCCM) announced today significant achievements and milestones for its fiscal year ending June 30, reflecting the company’s prompt response over the last twelve months to help its clients navigate the difficulties of 2020 and economic rebound at the beginning of 2021.

Driven by pent-up consumer demand, healthier personal savings accounts, ongoing Federal stimulus measures, and a rise in vaccinated Americans, many businesses have accelerated their reopening plans throughout 2021. According to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD)1, the U.S. economy is expected to grow 6.9% this year, a staunch increase from the 3.5% contraction in 2020. This has resulted in many organizations looking to upgrade their heavy-duty truck fleets to handle the demand from shipping partners and customers.

Increased Lease Originations and Shorter Life Cycles

Fleet Advantage’s custom, flexible financing programs have benefitted organizations looking to scale and adapt to the market. The company has a large compilation of big data that offers multiple solutions to help fleets manage Life Cycle Cost Management (LCCM). It is accompanied by strong partnerships with Original Equipment Manufacturers and finance partners to secure the best solution for each company. As a result, Fleet Advantage’s Lease Origination volume totaled $660 million, with a portfolio of over $1.5 billion in assets under management.

Since its founding 12 years ago, Fleet Advantage’s diligent focus on helping transportation fleets shorten their trucks’ life cycle has helped build the youngest average Class-8 fleet in the industry, at 2.5 years and 267,000 miles compared to the industry average 6.3 years and 610,000 miles2 with average driving MPG over 7.0. Their focus on fleet modernization has enabled its clients to significantly increase overall productivity, reduce truck operating downtime, save millions of gallons of diesel fuel, decrease emissions, and lower their cost-per-mile in maintenance and repair (M&R) expenses. It also increases advancements in safety technology and driver recruitment and retention.

Newer Trucks Equal Safer Trucks

Fleet Advantage’s Safety First Program focuses on safety proactively by shortening equipment life cycles to onboard new safety technology more rapidly. Safety technologies include collision avoidance, lane departure and blind spot assist to keep drivers and other motorists safer, while also reducing exposure to expensive litigation. According to a June 2020 report by the American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI), the average size of verdicts increased 967% from $2,305,736 in 2010 to $22,288,000 in 20183.

  • The Fleet Advantage Class-8 Fleet Customer Safety Advancements for FY 2021 include:
    • 95% Collision Avoidance
    • 98% Lane Departure
    • 81% Blindspot Assist

Driving Sustainability Goals Within The Industry

Shortened life cycles are also having a direct and distinct impact on corporate sustainability measures. Fleet Advantage’s efforts have been focused on driving sustainability throughout its organization and that of its client partners by working with customers to lessen their overall environmental impact and execute on their sustainability goals. As a result, the company has significantly reduced fleet CO2 through the implementation of constantly improving clean-diesel new truck technologies. These measures are critical since, according to Pieter Tans, senior scientist at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), businesses are adding roughly 40 billion metric tons of CO2 pollution per year4.

  • Fleet Advantage recently helped two Top 100 Fleets eliminate over 55,000 metric tons of CO2 and conserve over 5 million of gallons of fuel.  At $3.00 per gallon of diesel, that equates to improved MPG and over $16 million in reduced fuel expenditures!

“There is a significant bounce-back of activity in many businesses, which is increasing demand for both new and used trucks to handle the shipment of goods across the country,” said John Flynn, CEO of Fleet Advantage. “Our new purchases combined with off-lease used sales exceeded 6,000 Class-8 tractors.  Our model of clean-diesel and safety-enhanced trucks with shorter life cycles and flexible finance options compliments what many of our customers are seeking in the market including ESG (Economic and Social Governance). The last twelve months were challenging, but our team remained committed to excellence and customer service and we’re proud of the fact we operated responsibly and maintained full employment while helping our customers navigate such a difficult period.”

Fleet Advantage also continued its focus on making an impact by supporting the needs of the communities where its employees and clients live and work. Through its charitable program Kids Around the Corner, Fleet Advantage continued its financial support with numerous charities over the last twelve months.
