Nonprofit Partners with Mobile Parking Giants FLASH and ParkWhiz to Help Offset Cost of Parking for Chicago-area NICU Families

Chicago, IL  –The Jackson Chance Foundation goes high tech with new friends to spread its mission! The nonprofit proudly announces a partnership with mobile parking innovators FLASH and ParkWhiz to help spread its mission to make hospital parking for NICU families as easy and efficient as possible.

ParkWhiz app is a digital parking service that allows users to locate available parking spaces before reaching their destinations. No more stumbling to find parking tickets or dealing with parking machines when minutes matter most. In support of the Jackson Chance Foundation, ParkWhiz is promoting the mission of the foundation to its user base and providing the opportunity for donations.

Carrie Meghie, Jackson Chance Foundation co-founder said, “We are constantly looking for strategic partners to spread awareness of the Jackson Chance Foundation, the partnership with FLASH and ParkWhiz is a natural fit. It opens the door to educating the mission on how parking impacts NICU families and how the Jackson Chance Foundation fills that gap in Chicago.”

“Many hospitals define patient experience solely through clinical measures,” says Jonathan Isaacs, Vice President of Healthcare Sales at FLASH. “But the reality is that there are many environmental and psychological factors that contribute to a patient’s ability to get well, even more so when that patient is a newborn. Partnering with Jackson Chance Foundation was a great opportunity for us to support family involvement in the healing process.”

Visiting a baby in the NICU every day is just as important to recovery as the medical care they receive. But many families are unable to afford the transportation costs to make this a possibility, meaning many babies are left alone. Just one day of visitor parking, at a top Level IV Chicago NICU can cost upwards of $75.00, resulting in parking fees upwards of $1,000 per month. The average length of stay for a baby in a top NICU is 28 days, but the majority are there for months at a time. Jackson Chance Foundation believes this battle shouldn’t be fought alone or be plagued by additional burdens. Removing the financial burden of parking gives families the opportunity to be with their baby 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

“For NICU families, parking should be a forgettable experience, which is why FLASH is proud to be partnering with the Jackson Chance Foundation,” said Neil Golson, EVP of Marketing & Strategic Partnerships for FLASH. “We are fortunate that we can leverage the ParkWhiz platform to tap into our userbase and help support local Chicago families in need.”

This new partnership kicks-off in early June 2021 at all local Jackson Chance Foundation NICU parking locations, including Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital, and most recently Rush University Children’s Hospital. The Jackson Chance Foundation will also continue to offer its traditional parking passes to NICU families.

About Jackson Chance Foundation (JCF)
At Jackson Chance Foundation, we remove the financial burden of parking fees, giving every family the opportunity to be with their child. Through our NICU Transportation Program, we partner with hospitals to provide complimentary parking passes for families with critically ill babies in the NICU. By providing these passes, we ensure that each NICU baby receives their basic human rights: advocacy, support, and human touch 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. In short, we give families access to the best hospitals, neonatal specialists, surgical abilities, and nursing staff that they otherwise may have to turn down because of the high cost of parking to get there. Our program is available at Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago and Northwestern Prentice Women’s Hospital and most recently expanded to Rush University Children’s Hospital. To date, all admin costs are covered by the founders’ family in honor of their son Jackson Chance, for whom the foundation was started in his legacy. For more information, please visit www.jacksonchance.org. JCF is an Illinois non-for-profit, tax-exempt 501(c) (3) organization.

Parking Industry Coalition Thanks Congress and Administration for CARES Act Leadership

Parking Industry Coalition Thanks Congress and Administration for CARES Act Leadership

Calls for Further Assistance for Medium-Sized Businesses

WASHINGTON, March 27, 2020  — The parking industry through Women in Parking, Veterans in Parking, the Airport Ground Transportation Association (AGTA) and the Near Airport Parking Industry Trade Association (NAPITA) thank Congress and the Administration for their leadership in the rapid passage of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act to help workers affected with furlough due to the impact of COVID-19.

These industry groups appreciate the Congressional and Administration efforts to aid workers, small businesses and employers nationwide. The package of grants and loans will help our small-business members hold on during the crisis to emerge as employers and continue offering parking as an essential service in our nation’s infrastructure. However, NPA believes further attention must be given to assist medium-sized parking operators and suppliers who have fallen between the cracks of the CARES Act.

Congress has stepped forward in a bipartisan manner to help the country weather the impact of COVID-19 as it has swept the country with closures that have stalled business nationwide. Senators and Representatives from both sides of the aisle, as well as the Treasury Department, were in close contact with parking industry leaders throughout the negotiations. We will continue to work in close partnership with the government to make sure all NPA members are able to access these essential federal lifelines.

NPA President Christine Banning said, “The 581,000 employees in the parking industry and nearly 1 million workers in total supported by parking want to express our appreciation to Congressional leadership and the Administration for the emergency funding in the CARES Act, which provides direct aid to the dedicated individuals who work in our sector, including those who have been temporarily unemployed or furloughed due to the pandemic.”

Equally important are the small business and business loans through the Small Business Administration (SBA) and U.S. Treasury Department, which will infuse businesses with capital to stave off closure or bankruptcy and help businesses rebound from the COVID-19 crisis.

Banning added, “Our country is strong and parking organizations nationwide stand together for parking operators, airport/near airport parking, hospitals, universities, municipalities, and businesses to serve as an essential link in the first mile and last mile of transportation. As Americans, employers, and employees, we are all working hard to stay the course, so that we can rebound as an industry and country. We look forward to working with the federal government to ensure the necessary support is provided to parking employers of all sizes to make this possible.”

Banning commended the Congress for its responsiveness to the employers of the parking industry who are working tirelessly to keep workers employed and aid workers furloughed by the immediate drop off in business due to the novel coronavirus.

The inclusion of key provisions provide relief to an industry besieged by rapid declines in business, putting more than half of all industry workers at risk. Recovery depends upon liquidity for business to stay open and be able to recover and bring back furloughed workers.

SKIDATA announces successful installation at Sacred Heart Medical Center

New Brunswick, NJ August 8th, 2018 –  SKIDATA, Inc. Announces The Completion of the 8 Car-Park Installation for Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane, Washington.

SKIDATA’s first installation with Providence Health & Services – the largest healthcare provider in the state of Washington, has just wrapped up in Spokane with Towne Park as the operator. The project was installed in phases to allow for the immediate use of each parking area as it was completed. This was a very well thought out installation that kept the disruptions to everyday parking operations to a minimum.

Jim Bradley, Senior Director of Operations at Providence Health & Services shared his thoughts on the process, “Excellent work and great partnership between SKIDATA and Towne Park to improve parking service and access at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center.”

The 8 garages include a total of 33 lanes of equipment and 9 POF’s. SKIDATA’s tried and true Power.Gates column devices were used at most entries and exits with corresponding Barrier.Gates. Hospital staff parking access was facilitated with the use of the Smart.Gate – barrier only lanes with goosenecks housing the readers in the lane. For paid parkers 6 cash & credit card Easy.Cash APMs were installed as well as 3 credit card only Credit.Cash APM units.

Sweb.Validate has been deployed to provide convenient online validations throughout the entire hospital with the use of a simple browser-based interface. An additional convenience feature is the ability to purchase long term tickets at the APMs. The medical center is also incentivizing paying for parking at the APMs by providing a $1 discount for parkers who pay at the machines instead of in the exit lane itself.

SKIDATA is excited about this long-term relationship with Providence Health & Services and looks forward to future opportunities.

SKIDATA is passionate about its commitment to deliver superior, reliable, and trend setting solutions. We are ready to help our customers to unlock the power of SKIDATA.
