IBI Group Awarded Two Bridge Toll System Contract in Michigan

— Smart city solutions leader expands its portfolio of cross-border toll systems between Michigan and Ontario —

TORONTO, July 29, 2021  — IBI Group (TSX:IBG) was awarded an 18-lane toll system contract, and related services, by the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) for the modernization of the existing toll system infrastructure at Blue Water Bridge (connecting Port Huron, Michigan to Sarnia, Ontario) and International Bridge (connecting Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario). The firm will implement its toll system on both the U.S. and Canadian sides of the Blue Water Bridge, and the U.S. side of the International Bridge, as well as provide operations and maintenance support for up to 10 years for toll operations and customer-facing services. Adding to IBI’s existing portfolio of toll system projects in Michigan, this two-bridge, cross-border project win is illustrative of the firm’s commitment to create value for its clients through the application of technology, and enable the efficient operation of the trade corridors between the United States and Canada.

“The evolution and expansion of our toll system offering in North America is a testament to our recent success at the Mackinac Bridge, as well as our global portfolio of work in this sector,” said IBI Group CEO, Scott Stewart. “With the growing need and demand for the modernization of transportation infrastructure in the U.S. and across the globe, IBI’s toll system offers a turnkey solution to fund construction, operations and maintenance.”

The Blue Water Bridge services up to 250,000 crossings per month, while the International Bridge services up to 150,000 crossings per month. IBI Group’s integrated toll system product offers a proven, auditable and seamless solution for both back-end and front-end operations, and has been designed to accommodate both currencies along the Canada-United States border. IBI’s toll system offers an enhanced transaction management and analytics platform, including trend analysis, performance monitoring, live monitoring and management of assets, transaction and revenue reconciliation, and auditing.

The International and Blue Water Bridge toll system marks IBI’s third toll system contract for bridges serving Michigan. In 2019, the firm deployed its toll system at Mackinac Bridge, and is currently providing its toll system on the new Gordie Howe International Bridge (connecting Detroit, Michigan and Windsor, Ontario). These projects add to IBI’s global portfolio of toll systems across North America, Mexico, Greece, India and the UK, encompassing some 900 toll lanes and collecting $1.25B annually.

IBI Group Partners with LA’s Urban Movement Labs to Shape the Future of Mobility

– Global design and technology firm kicks-off collaboration with pilot program that reimagines LA’s curbside –

LOS ANGELES, July 15, 2021  — Technology-driven design firm, IBI Group (TSX:IBG), has joined Urban Movement Labs (UML), a first-of-its-kind partnership between the Mayor of Los Angeles’ Office of Economic Development and the three largest goods and people movement agencies in the City of Los Angeles — the Port, the Airports, and the Department of Transportation — to implement innovative transportation solutions that will improve the lives of citizens and visitors. Other founding partners include Lyft, Verizon, Avis Budget Group, Moceanlab, Waymo, and the Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator. Armed with IBI Group’s expertise in intelligent transportation, curbside management and smart cities, and its history in the southern California market, the firm is proud to join the partnership and bring its curbside management solution, CurbIQ™, to the streets of LA.

“As an organization that is aligned with our philosophy of fostering innovative, sustainable and resilient cities, we are excited about the synergies and opportunities the Urban Movement Labs partnership provides,” said IBI Group CEO, Scott Stewart. “Our mobility future must be a collaboration between smart city providers, local governments, and the community-at-large. We are champions of this through our Smart City Sandbox initiative in Toronto, and are proud to bring those learnings to our like-minded peers in LA.”

As part of the partnership, IBI Group will have the opportunity to work with other UML members to develop new proofs-of-concept, as well as leverage the firm’s existing mobility solutions for collaborations and test beds in LA. An initial pilot project, in collaboration with the Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT), leverages IBI’s CurbIQ solution to digitize the existing curbside regulations in three key areas in LA — Hollywood, downtown, and the UML partner pilot area around the Warner Center. The goal is to inform LADOT’s future regulatory and mobility decisions around street parking and curbside management to better understand and optimize the use of curb space for the sustainable and efficient movement of people and goods. CurbIQ is currently being used by cities in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico to support improved management and optimization of the curbside.

IBI Group has been active in the southern California market since 1978, working on a range of architecture, transportation infrastructure, and intelligent systems projects, including the Alameda Corridor Revenue Collection System, the City of Los Angeles Civic Center Master Plan, and the Metro Gold Line Foothill Light Rail Corridor Extension.

IBI Group Awarded Airport Ground Transportation Management System Contract by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey

Global technology firm to deploy leading-edge smart dispatch system with mobile application at flagship airports

TORONTO — IBI Group (TSX:IBG), a global design and technology firm, has been awarded a four-year Airport Ground Transportation Management System (GTMS) contract for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PANYNJ). Leveraging IBI Group’s Smart Airport Taxi – Virtual Dispatch System, the cloud-hosted solution will reduce the need for high-volume holding areas for commercial vehicles by automating the dispatch of ground transportation and connecting drivers to ride opportunities via a mobile application. The technology is being implemented at JFK, LaGuardia, and Newark airports, and includes a feature that will provide airport ground transportation operators with data related to the health of drivers and the cleanliness of their vehicles. This contract adds to IBI Group’s Intelligence-sector portfolio and aligns with the firm’s strategic technology-driven direction.

“We’re thrilled to launch this first-generation solution, in partnership with PANYNJ. Our solution provides benefits to airport operators and commercial vehicle drivers, saving them valuable time and resources through the use of smart technology,” said IBI Group Director, Senior Practice Lead, Intelligent Systems, Tissa De Silva. “We look forward to working with PANYNJ to ensure its airports are equipped with a leading-edge, responsive and flexible ground transportation management system for years to come.”

The IBI-developed mobile application is a first-to-market innovation, and will soon connect all New York City Yellow Cabs and New Jersey Cabs to PANYNJ’s virtual dispatch system. The app aids airport operators and drivers alike by eliminating the need for large holding areas where drivers typically queue, often for hours at a time, freeing up the space for other uses by the Port Authority.

The PANYNJ contract adds to IBI Group’s airport ground transportation management system expertise, which includes major airports across North America.

“An exciting win for our software and systems team, this multi-year contract contributes to our goal of generating 20 per cent of net revenue by the end of 2020 from our Intelligence sector,” said IBI Group CEO Scott Stewart. “As we continue to realize our technology-driven strategic direction, I’m excited by the new solutions our professionals are bringing to bear to foster smarter, more efficient and sustainable cities around the world.”

Global technology firm leverages product offering to support improved statewide travel

TORONTO, Aug. 05, 2020  — IBI Group (TSX:IBG), in collaboration with Northeast Traffic Control Services, Inc. (NETCS) and Green International Affiliates, Inc., has been selected to provide the Statewide Travel Time System ‘GoTime’ for the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT). The GoTime system leverages multiple datasets to determine reliable traveler information that gets communicated to the public via Mass511.com, as well as portable variable message signs along highways. The data is also made available through an application programming interface (API) to other interested transportation stakeholders. As part of this five-year, multi-million dollar Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) agreement, IBI Group will provide a 24/7-hosted solution that includes the travel time module of its Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) as well as its asset management platform.

“A significant win that adds to our growing SaaS portfolio, I’m proud to see several of our software products being utilized to support efficient travel in the state of Massachusetts,” said IBI Group CEO, Scott Stewart. “MassDOT is an important client within our intelligent systems group, and we’re thrilled to continue our relationship with them through this multi-year engagement.”

Through MassDOT’s GoTime system, IBI Group’s travel time software will communicate with approximately 155 bluetooth readers deployed across the Commonwealth, and will post real-time messages to approximately 160 hybrid travel time signs along the state’s limited access highways. In addition to IBI’s ATMS, and our asset management product which will be used to monitor and maintain intelligent transportation system (ITS) devices in the field to ensure system reliability, the Mass511.com traveler information website is also developed and hosted by IBI Group on behalf of MassDOT.

“We’re proud to be partnering with MassDOT to provide innovative solutions to improve highway operations, and offer timely and reliable traveler information to the general public,” said IBI Group Practice Lead, Transportation Engineering, James Sorensen. “This work builds on our existing commitment to Massachusetts and the New England region, and we look forward to collaborating with our partners to continue to deploy smart traffic management solutions for residents and visitors alike.”

IBI Group’s advanced traffic management technology has been a significant contributor to the firm’s Intelligence sector portfolio for more than 30 years. In addition to Massachusetts, it is currently operational across Wisconsin; Connecticut; Upstate New York; Ada County, Idaho; Pennsylvania’s Turnpike; and Vancouver, British Columbia. The software is also in the process of being deployed in the state of Ohio, and the Miami, Florida region.

Other products in IBI Group’s SaaS portfolio include: Travel-IQ™, Smart City Platform™, InForm by IBI Group™, and BlueIQ™.
