INDECT Matrix Signs a key Feature in the Transformation of Concord Estates, NJ

(Passaic, NJ, October 15, 2019) INDECT USA has been awarded the coveted parking guidance contract at Concord Estates, the new multi-million-dollar, mixed-use development project in Passaic, New Jersey.

The new Concord Estates is a dramatic redevelopment of an old, disused enameled can factory located just under 2 miles from downtown Passaic. The manufacturing site has been a steady presence in the area’s historical records, dating back over 100 years.

A total of 230 ultrasonic sensors with internal LEDs, seven internal wayfinding signs and two matrix signs will be installed in the three-level parking garage.

“The interesting thing about this project is the sheer size and scale of the matrix signs,” said Dale Fowler from INDECT USA. “These things are massive and the clarity is simply awesome. We’re talking Vegas style resolution.”

Each matrix sign measures 60 inches by 90 inches (1536mm x 2304mm) and has a pixel rating of P4. This number refers to the distance between each pixel on the screen. The smaller the number, the closer the pixels and the sharper the image.

“INDECT is well known in the industry for the quality of our matrix signs. Our standard matrix signs have a pixel rating of P6 and are considered to be among the best in the business. However, in this case the client wanted to be able to display detailed advertising messages containing complex graphics, as well as general messages and daily parking information. So, we recommended they use our ultra-resolution signs.” said Fowler.

The Concord Estate development will bring much needed amenity to the local community and dramatically improve the aesthetics of the area.

Stage 1 of the multi-stage project is currently underway with the parking guidance component expected to be completed by mid-late December 2019.

INDECT’s new ‘out of the box’ software produces accuracy rates of 99% within days of installation

BOSTON, MA (June 26, 2019) INDECT USA, the industry’s leading provider of parking guidance systems, announces a breakthrough in the quest to provide garage owners with a plug-and-play parking guidance solution with their new ‘out of the box’ training set.

The new software enables the INDECT parking guidance system to go live immediately, producing accuracy rates in excess of 99% within days of installation.

“All other parking guidance systems on the market require sensors to observe cars coming and going for their algorithms to learn and achieve accuracy.” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “This can take up to 60 days before the system is ready to go live.”

“This can cause issues for new build projects where there are no vehicles to train on until after the garage is open. The owners obviously want the entire garage operational for the ribbon cutting.” Said Fowler.

“Our new training software completely solves that problem because it doesn’t require any cars to be present during the training phase. This means the system can be up and running as soon as the installation is complete.” he said.

“The software incorporates the data from more than 500,000 parking spaces that we have collected worldwide,” said Ingo Herwich, Chief Operations Officer of INDECT Electronics and Distribution. “That’s why the new algorithm is so clever and can be used in so many different garages without any adaptations.”

“It doesn’t matter whether the cars are parked diagonally or at right angles, we have trained for both situations.” said Herwich.

According to Fowler, the ‘out of the box’ solution was first tested in the USA at Dallas Love Field’s new P3 garage where the system successfully achieved more than 99% accuracy within days of installation.

“Often clients are excited about their new parking guidance system and are keen to share it to with their customers. Having to wait can be frustrating. Now they don’t have to.” he said.

Herwich points out there may be some instances where the sensor encounters a garage layout that is completely new or unknown, and the accuracy may drop to 98%. In these situations, the INDECT team collects detailed images of the variation, adds them to the existing dataset and then uses these to boost the accuracy to 99%.

“Our ultimate goal is to achieve 99.5% accuracy out of the box. First time, every time.” said Herwich.

INDECT’s research and development team are constantly looking for ways to perfect the parking guidance experience. Products are regularly updated and refined to ensure they accurately reflect clients’ parking needs.

INDECT wins parking guidance contract for San Manuel Casino, California

HIGHLAND, CA (May 21, 2019) INDECT USA has been chosen as the preferred parking guidance system for San Manuel Casino in Highland, California.

An INDECT parking guidance system is currently being installed in three onsite parking lots as part of San Manuel’s $550 million expansion project. The massive construction project also includes the addition of a new six story parking structure, a 500-room onsite hotel and a 4000-seat entertainment venue.

“We’ve had lots of experience when it comes to providing parking guidance for casinos. When this project is complete, San Manuel will be our nineteenth casino installation in the USA.” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA.

Gaming facilities are busy 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Unlike other industries such as retail, education or air travel, there is no down time. Parking spaces are constantly in hot demand and turnover is high.

“Many gaming operators have come to view the parking garage as an extension of the casino lobby. The moment someone enters the garage, they are to be treated as a guest.” said Fowler.

“The INDECT parking guidance system takes all the stress out of finding a parking space so the players arrive happy, relaxed and ready to play.” he said.

Situated next to the beautiful San Manuel reservation, the San Manuel Casino is an easy 70 mins drive from downtown LA and close to the San Bernardino International Airport. The casino currently offers more than 4,700 slot machines, over 200 video poker machines, 100 table games as well as an exclusive high limit room.

Owned and operated by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, the San Manuel Casino employs over 4,900 people making it one of the top ten employers for the region.

Not just for large parking garages, INDECT completely transforms the parking experience at Carmel Valley’s only subterranean garage in The Merge CV

Not just for large parking garages, INDECT completely transforms the parking experience at Carmel Valley’s only subterranean garage in The Merge CV

San Diego, CA (March 3, 2019) INDECT USA announces the successful installation of their ultrasonic parking guidance system at San Diego’s newly developed urban community, The Merge CV.

Despite having only 60 spaces, the Merge’s small underground garage is often filled to capacity, especially on Thursday and Friday evenings as visitors flock to sample local wines, enjoy a good coffee or savor a delicious meal.

“People tend to think that parking guidance is just for big businesses but often it is the small, boutique garage where you can really see the difference,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA.

The Merge garage is one of the only subterranean parking garage in Carmel Valley. To enter the garage, visitors need to drive down a steep ramp and make a couple of tight right-hand turns. There is only one way in, one way out and no room to turn around.

“The client was concerned that the garage was over-filling during peak periods, creating a dangerous blockage as drivers struggled to reverse out.” said Fowler. “We recommended our ultrasonic system with a light and sensor above every space, and a large monument sign to be placed at the entry to show the number of vacancies.”

The monument sign was custom designed to suit The Merge’s aesthetics with bespoke colors, geometric shapes and a specific font. The digits are large and easily readable from a distance.

“Prior to having the parking guidance installed, we had been valet parking cars on Thursday and Friday evenings to avoid the inevitable traffic jam. Now with the new sign, people know exactly how many spaces are available before entering the garage. It’s made a huge difference.” said Darren Levitt, Vice President of Sea Breeze Properties.

Typically, when people look for parking in Carmel Valley, they have the option of an open-air lot or an above ground parking structure. The idea of driving down a ramp into a dark garage is relatively new and can be a little intimidating.

“We wanted to encourage people to enter the garage and feel confident that they would find a space. The system and the sign are doing just that” said Levitt.

According to Levitt, the feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. “People love the sign and the lights. They say it’s like Vegas in there!” he laughed.

Data collected from the INDECT reporting software shows that not only has the number of entries and daily turnover increased, the average occupancy rate has tripled from 30% to 90% since the installation of the sign.

“The INDECT team were extremely easy to work with and very responsive. The system was installed in just five days and that good-old southern hospitality made the entire experience a pleasant one.” said Levitt.

“For anyone looking for a parking guidance system, I would certainly recommend INDECT.” he said.

Growing demand for parking guidance stimulates INDECT USA to open a new office in Denver, Colorado

Denver, CO –  INDECT USA today announces the opening of their new office in Denver, Colorado.

The new Colorado office will serve as a technology and sales hub, enabling INDECT to better meet the growing demand for parking guidance across the country.

“When we opened our first office in Texas back in 2013, parking guidance was a relatively new concept in America.” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “Since then we have installed over 150 systems in 16 states with 13 currently under construction and a further 13 under contract.”

“The demand for parking guidance has shot through the roof.” said Fowler “In the beginning it was mainly airports and shopping centers but now you can find our systems everywhere.”

“Hospitals, casinos, city centers, colleges, universities, offices, theme parks, lifestyle centers, supermarkets, gas stations, entertainment precincts, retail and residential complexes, hotels, resorts, loading docks and even government departments. Now that people understand the benefits, everyone wants in on the act.” he said.

Along with the new office, the INDECT team has also been expanding with a number of new technical positions already filled this year and additional people being added in both administration and technical roles in the coming months.

“We are expanding to meet the increasing market demands” said Fowler. “Denver and Dallas both have excellent hub airports allowing speedy logistical access to service the US market”.

INDECT now has two complete warehouses to allow the rapid deployment of new systems as well as the timely delivery of any spare parts for service.

INDECT is the #1 choice for parking guidance systems in casinos across the USA

March 17, 2019

INDECT is the #1 choice for parking guidance systems in casinos across the USA

BOSTON, MA – INDECT has successfully installed their world-class parking guidance system in 17 major casinos/resorts across the USA with another currently under construction and a further casino to begin work mid-year.

INDECT’s dominance of the casino segment can be attributed to three main factors, the quality of their products, the ease of installation and their proven record for accuracy and reliability.

Nowhere is this more apparent than on the Las Vegas Strip in Nevada where there are currently 15 casinos on the Las Vegas Strip with an INDECT parking guidance system.

“We like to say that everyone’s a winner with an INDECT parking guidance system.” laughs Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “It sounds cheesy but it’s true. The players are happy because they can find a space and the owners are happy because the garage is more efficient.”

Casino garages are nearly always operating at capacity, regardless of the time of day or night. This can make finding a parking spot a long and frustrating experience. An INDECT parking guidance system easily directs drivers to the nearest available space by guiding them through the garage and assisting them to make an informed choice at each decision point.

“We use hyper bright LEDs in our sensors and wayfinding signs to ensure clear visibility even from long distances. Each sign shows the number of available spaces and where these spaces are located. The signs can also be used to direct drivers with special needs to premium spaces that are closer to the entrance and elevators.” said Fowler.

“Our accuracy and reliability are unmatched in the market. It’s one of the main reasons we get so much repeat business. Once the system is up and running there is not much more the casino needs to do except sit back and enjoy the positive comments.” he said.

In addition to their regular parking guidance signs and sensors, INDECT also offer custom-designed matrix signs as an additional feature. These signs can be placed at the entrance/exit to a garage, near the elevators on each level or anywhere additional information is needed.

“Our matrix signs are becoming quite popular. They can be as simple or as complex as the client desires, capable of displaying anything from parking directions to emergency and event information. This makes them extremely useful for casinos offering multiple live shows and performances.” said Fowler.

Most casino parking garages are large, multi-level structures that accommodate thousands of vehicles every day.  Parking can be tricky to say the least. Installing a parking guidance system makes the whole process quicker and easier, allowing people to get to their destination relaxed and ready to enjoy themselves.

So, while we can’t guarantee a windfall when you next decide to try your luck at the casinos on the Las Vegas Strip, you can bet your bottom dollar there’ll be a parking space waiting just for you. From Mandalay Bay at one end to the Encore Resort at the other, INDECT has taken the gambling out of the parking garage and put it back in the casino where it belongs.

Airports worldwide consistently choose INDECT as their preferred parking guidance system

March 08, 2019

Airports worldwide consistently choose INDECT as their preferred parking guidance system

Boston, MA –  INDECT has successfully installed parking guidance technology in fourteen airports across the world with three additional airports under construction and another major hub scheduled to begin mid 2019.

Since their first installation in London’s Gatwick Airport in 2006, INDECT has seen the aviation industry shift from viewing parking guidance as a non-essential, luxury item to a standard requirement in many new airport garages.

“The installation of a parking guidance system is now widely recognized as one of the most effective ways to improve a garage’s efficiency, maximize revenue and reduce greenhouse emissions.” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA.

“Guiding drivers directly to available spaces eliminates the need to actively search for a parking spot. This minimizes aisle congestion, improves safety and significantly reduces the likelihood of accidents, making the entire parking experience quicker and easier.” said Fowler.

“As every traveler knows, when you’re racing to catch that flight, every minute counts.” he said.

According to an Australian study performed in 2008, the installation of an INDECT parking guidance system was shown to significantly reduce the amount of time taken to locate an available space.  Even when the garage is over 75% capacity, drivers were still able to find a parking space 24% faster than without guidance.

Not only were search times faster, they were also more consistent. The study showed that parking guidance noticeably improved garage efficiency by spreading the demand for spaces more evenly across all levels.  Instead of allowing the lower levels to fill completely, causing congestion and delay, drivers were able to bypass the full or nearly full levels and head straight for a vacant space.

“We have installed INDECT parking guidance systems at fourteen airports all over the world from America to Australia, Europe and the Middle East. In each instance the feedback we receive is overwhelmingly positive with some airports choosing to install multiple systems. For example, Dallas Fort Worth International Airport will soon have an INDECT parking guidance system in all five terminals.” he said.

In addition to reducing search time and improving efficiency, the installation of an INDECT parking guidance system has been proven to reduce fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by an average of 24% when the garage is over 75% full. Considering that most airport garages operate at or near capacity that is a significant saving of greenhouse gasses.

According to Fowler, for parking guidance to be successful, accuracy is important. Drivers need to trust that when the system says there are vacant spaces available on the upper levels, there really are spaces available. Otherwise they stop believing the signs and start hunting on their own, causing congestion and delay.

Unlike some of the competing systems currently on the market, the INDECT system is 99.9% accurate with minimal maintenance required.

“It’s one of the reasons our system has proven so popular with airports. People trust us. The upper levels are being used more efficiently, the hard-to-find spaces are being filled, congestion and pollution are down and drivers are happy. Happy travelers, happy airports.” he said.

INDECT USA chosen as the preferred parking guidance system for The Village at Totem Lake, Washington

February 01, 2019

INDECT USA chosen as the preferred parking guidance system for The Village at Totem Lake, Washington.

North Kirkland, WA (January 30, 2019) INDECT USA has been chosen as the preferred parking guidance system for Washington’s new luxury lifestyle center, The Village, located at Totem Lake.

A total of 1625 INDECT ultrasonic sensors with extended LED lights will be installed to help guide residents and shoppers quickly and easily to the nearest available space.

“Extended LED lights are a popular choice for large parking garages as they make it easy for drivers to spot the vacant spaces even from a distance,” said Dale Fowler, President of INDECT USA. “Having a light above every space takes the guess work out of finding a spot and promotes trust in the system’s accuracy.”

When complete, The Village will be a massive multimodal complex, comprising of approximately 400,000 square feet of fashionable retail boutiques, exceptional restaurants, luxury rental units, a premium cinema and numerous landscaped public spaces.

Designed to reproduce the close community of a small village with the sophistication of a modern city, the new lifestyle center aims to provide residents and visitors with a superior social experience.

“We have installed the INDECT parking guidance system at a number of high-end retail and entertainment complexes, including Houston’s prestigious City Centre, and the feedback has been excellent.” said Derek Frantz, Head of Business Development at Parking Guidance Systems (PGS).

“Modern luxury destinations, such as The Village, want to give people the best experience possible and because that experience starts from the moment they enter the parking garage, it’s important to get it right.” he said.

According to Dale Fowler, the parking garage is effectively the welcoming center of the entire complex. When a driver is greeted with clear signage and quickly directed to the nearest available space, they arrive in a good mood and ready to enjoy whatever the center has to offer.

The parking guidance system designed for The Village will use different colored LEDs to indicate the status of each space: green for available, red for occupied and blue for ADA. The lights will be clearly visible from several hundred yards away and signs at the end of each driving aisle will indicate the number and type of spaces available in each parking aisle.

“The INDECT system is the most accurate and reliable system on the market.” said Fowler. “Just follow the directions and you will find a space. First time, every time. It’s as easy as that.”

The parking guidance installation is scheduled for completion in the second half of 2019.

INDECT USA: Chicago’s ROW Self Park Garage successfully introduces the first gateless premium parking area in the USA

February 01, 2019

INDECT USA: Chicago’s ROW Self Park Garage successfully introduces the first gateless premium parking area in the USA

Chicago, IL –  INDECT USA today announces the successful installation of a first-class parking area at ROW Self Park Garage in downtown Chicago.

The entire first ramp of ROW garage has been transformed into a first-class parking experience with 40 wider spaces, brighter LED lighting and INDECT’s Upsolut camera-based parking guidance system. The new premium spaces are located close to the entrance, elevators and all other conveniences.

“There is always a market for luxury items or premium service.” said Michael Prussian, Chief Investment Officer and co-founder of Interpark. “We wanted to offer drivers the opportunity to park in the best spots for a premium price.”

ROW self-park garage is one of many multi-level parking garages located in downtown Chicago and is a popular parking destination due to its proximity to numerous city attractions, hotels and restaurants.

“We noticed that many of the best parking spaces were being filled by early parkers at discounted rates and weren’t turning over during the day.” said Prussian. “This meant that people paying full price were forced to park much farther away from their destination.”

The new first-class parking area is open to everyone on a first in, best dressed basis, regardless of whether they are first timers or regular monthly parkers.

“The area is well marked with the rules and pricing structure clearly displayed, so there are no surprises. There are also no gates or barriers. Our revenue systems automatically charge the customer for the premium parking at the payment machines.” he said.

The installation was carried out by local experts, RevCon Technology Group Inc, and included the relocation of existing electric vehicle (EV) stations, re-striping and widening of the spaces, the addition of brighter LED lighting and the installation of new camera-based INDECT Upsolut sensors to monitor the premium area.

“The Upsolut camera-based sensors not only alert customers of an open space, they capture valuable time-sensitive LPR data for us and are completely integrated into our revenue system,” said Prussian.

The key to the project’s success is the seamless integration between INDECT’s LPR and guidance system, Interpark’s inhouse software, two different revenue systems (TIBA and Parkonect) and the existing HTS License Plate Recognition (LPR) system.

When a vehicle enters the garage its license plate is captured by the HTS LPR system.  HTS shares this information with TIBA and Parkonect, who then attach the plate number to the parking ticket. When a vehicle parks in the first-class area, INDECT matches their own LPR read to the HTS whitelist. When the customer goes to pay for their parking, the revenue control system looks up the INDECT database to see if their vehicle is parked in the premium area. If so, they are then charged the premium rate.

According to Prussian, the innovative technology solution has been so successful, Interpark has extended it into the EV parking area to monitor, meter and charge EV customers for use of the EV stations.

“We’re getting excellent feedback. Customers are happy and the first-class area is always full.” said Prussian.

“Premium parking has had a big effect on the garage. Originally the best spaces would be full all day with practically no movement. Now, thanks to INDECT’s reporting software, we can see that the same spaces are turning over four times every day. That’s a massive increase.”

The introduction of premium parking at ROW Self Park has been so successful, a second garage is now being planned.
