Amsterdam expo perfect platform for Parking Sense worldwide growth

Cambridge based parking guidance company, Parking Sense has enjoyed a highly successful four days exhibiting their products and networking at Intertraffic Amsterdam – the world’s largest expo of parking products and traffic technology.

Parking Sense, the company behind the innovative parking guidance system EasyGuide, was founded by Cambridge couple Paul and Jo Collins in 2014 and has expanded internationally with distributors and partners now in the USA and Europe.

“Intertraffic Amsterdam was an opportunity for Parking Sense for us to network with other leaders in parking and traffic management from around the world,” says CEO Paul Collins. “There were more than 800 exhibitors in attendance so it was important for us to be there and stamp our mark.”

It turned out to be a very smart move, with a distribution agreement signed with one of Europe’s leading distributors, Taxameter Centrale. Along with this, four large sales in Europe are being negotiated, a sale was made to a company based in UAE and contacts were made with interested parties from as far afield as Japan and South America. “It’s fair to say, we are delighted with the outcome,” says Collins.

“Taxameter Centrale is one of the highest profile distributors of parking guidance systems, parking optimization and enforcement solutions in Europe and a recognized industry leader,” says Parking Sense COO, Jake Bezzant. “ So I could not be more excited about this partnership. Taxameter Centrale base their business on excellent service and quality products. These are some of the attributes Parking Sense has been built on. This is an exceptional start for us as we roll our products out into the European Market. ”

Paul Collins believes it was the right call to exhibit at such a high profile event. “There’s only one way to take on an event like Intertraffic and that’s to look world class so I’m pleased it all paid off. And it’s great to be working with Taxameter again,” he says, “to launch a new line into Europe that’s changing the face of parking worldwide.”

Dierk Gruenig, Parking Sense Europe’s GM will be responsible for managing the project and is relishing the challenge. “It’s great to have made such fast progress since we launched in Europe. It all starts with a great product so we are looking forward to exploring more European markets and brining more partners and distributors on board. The new way of looking at single space recognition as we are doing it will now benefit parking operators and users across Europe.”

Intertraffic Amsterdam concludes 23rd edition on an all time high Content programme and networking opportunities ruled the show floor

IntertrafficAmsterdam2016

11 April 2016 – Intertraffic Amsterdam concludes 23rd edition on an all time high
Content programme and networking opportunities ruled the show floor

Intertraffic Amsterdam 2016, the world’s leading trade event for infrastructure, traffic management, smart mobility, safety and parking ended last week on an all time high as exhibitors and visitors alike agreed it was one of the best events of its kind ever staged. The variety of companies, presentations from world-leading authorities, ground-breaking innovations and record numbers through the doors all combined to create an event unsurpassed in its reach and scope. The Intertraffic content and network programme was exceptionally well received, meeting the ever increasing needs for knowledge exchange and learning opportunities. Intertraffic also played host to the 100 millionth visitor to the RAI Amsterdam venue – an occasion that was celebrated by a festive welcoming reception. Intertraffic Amsterdam is organised by RAI Amsterdam and took place from 5 to 8 April.

Positive energy and great vibe
Joyce de Winter, Product Manager Intertraffic of RAI Amsterdam is clearly proud with the results of Intertraffic Amsterdam 2016. “Close to 800 companies from 47 countries exhibited, and a record grand total of 30,104 visitors from 134 countries worldwide were in attendance, resulting in nearly 450,000 business encounters. You could feel the positive energy all around, there was just a great vibe. We wanted to take our content programme to the next level and we more than met our own objectives. 4,700 participants took part in our knowledge programme overall of which 3,000 attended sessions in the Smart Mobility Theatre, which is almost double the number compared to 2014. The InnovationLAB presentations attracted 1,300 interested visitors. The international share of attendees has once again increased. This time a considerable 74% came from outside the Netherlands, with Asia and the Americas showing significant growth. The number of companies represented by visitors has gone up by nearly 6% as well. For the 2018 event we are expanding with a new hall, which is currently being built. This will be the new area for Smart Mobility, so that segment of the show will be even bigger next time. The business opportunities offered by Intertraffic speak volumes. In 2014 we were pleased with the onsite rebookings, but now we are looking at almost double those figures with 60% of the floor already rebooked for 2018.” A full visitor profile report will be published in May.

A lot of new business
Many exhibitors were keen to share their views on Intertraffic. Miles Boyd, commercial manager at first time exhibitor Hill & Smith from the UK, commented, “We’ve been very excited by this exhibition, it has reminded us how good exhibitions can be. We’re looking forward to it again in two year’s time.” Danny Longval, Vice President Worldwide Sales at Lumenera, Canada added “We have been very excited about this show. It really exceeded expectations. If anything, what I might do differently next time is bring more staff! The level of interest was so huge – we had people lining up, and I was busy and my colleagues were busy and I didn’t want to miss someone!” Marc Rummeny, Sales Manager with RTB from Germany summarized “Intertraffic has been a really great show – I’m lucky I still have my voice because I’ve done so much talking! The quality of the contacts was great, we saw many of our existing customers but also did a lot of new business, too. Obviously we will be here next time – I’m already looking forward to it!”

Intertraffic Innovation Award
The overall winner – out of a total of 91 entries – of the prestigious Intertraffic Innovation Awards was the InVipo software product, developed by CROSS Zlin. The platform is beautiful in its simplicity – one web-based interface to monitor and control all ITS in a city, compatible not only with CROSS products but with any traffic management equipment that produces data. “We are interested in making cities smarter. We think that data from cities should be open for all businesses, as it can be used to make people’s lives better,” says Lukas Duffek, CEO of CROSS Zlin Incinity. “We didn’t expect to win, but we are very happy that we did. The InVipo platform is lightweight and open and gives us the power to be very fast.”

METRIC Sprite: Smart features for smart cities

The new METRIC Sprite, launched at Intertraffic Amsterdam this week, is promising to be a futureproof solution with features that could change the way we think about parking terminals.

More than just a parking machine

In an age where more and more services are automated, the requirement to remove cash from the purchasing equation is growing but the physical evidence of proof of purchase is still necessary, the humble parking terminal can be transformed into a multi-service terminal to meet this need. From everything from tourist attractions to paying bills, a multi-service terminal can allow 24-hour access to purchases, accepting all payment forms, at the point of need, without the requirement of a human attendant.

A new marketing opportunity

Advertising is more prolific in our everyday lives than ever before. A typical adult will be exposed to 3,500 marketing messages per day. The need to find new and innovative ways to deliver messages to consumers is ever-growing. In steps the METRIC Sprite with a large HD video screen delivering targeted, engaging content direct at eye level. This is a great potential advertising space for agencies, and an additional revenue stream for the car park operators.

A key part of the journey

With the METRIC Sprite, car park operators can now offer added value to their customers with the addition of voucher scanning technology. By rewarding customers with free or discounted parking, operators can drive return visits and repeat business and make the parking terminal a key part of the journey. Visiting METRIC’s Intertraffic stand, Brian Parker, Managing Director of Britannia Parking commented: “Creating the link between the parking event and the customer through the use of intelligent technology is now becoming a key part of the offering that operators need.”

The METRIC Sprite delivers all these possibilities and more, Richard Boultbee, Sales and Marketing Director for METRIC Group said: “The launch of the METRIC Sprite is an exciting time for us as a company and the culmination of months of research, development and sheer hard work to deliver a product that the global market is looking for. We’ve spoken to our customers about the functionality they want now and in the future, and we believe that with the METRIC Sprite we have delivered those requirements. Innovation is at the heart of what we do, and the METRIC Sprite is truly a futureproof parking terminal for smart cities.”

METRIC launch new parking terminal for the global market at Intertraffic Amsterdam

METRIC are proud to launch their new parking terminal, the METRIC Sprite, at the 2016 Intertraffic Conference, at the RAI Amsterdam 5th-8th April. Noticeably slimmer and shorter in stature, this compact parking machine is an attractive piece of street furniture that is packed full of features.

Designed for the global market, the METRIC Sprite is perfect to suit a range of parking modes. The capacitive touch keypad is flexible which means it can be updated to include QWERTY keys for Pay-by-Plate and ANPR parking modes or for other types of data capture. The keypad can also include special characters to suit specific language requirements.

The focus of the METRIC Sprite is the experience of the end user. The user information screen is clear and prominent to deliver on-screen instructions, and is available in mono, low power SD colour and a large high definition colour option.

The METRIC Sprite can handle all payments types including coins, notes, chip & pin and contactless – including ApplePay. Voucher scanning is also a feature that can be used as a payment method to offer free or discounted parking for a number of scenarios such as retail, residential, members and employee parking.

Visitors to the Intertraffic Exhibition can enjoy a live demonstration of the new parking terminals – visit the METRIC stand 02.212.
