The world’s leading mobility gathering

Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 – ecosystem united for the future of mobility

Intertraffic Amsterdam, the world’s leading trade event for infrastructure, traffic management, smart mobility, safety, and parking concluded an inspiring 2024 edition with a focus on smart, safe, and sustainable mobility for all. With a vastly extended summit programme and the largest show floor in history, it was the global meeting point for senior professionals and policy makers in the mobility sector. Intertraffic Amsterdam is one of RAI Amsterdam’s flagship events and took place from 16 to 19 April 2024.

Global mobility community – 143 countries present
Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 was home to 850+ exhibiting companies and organisations from 50 countries. Over the four event days, a grand total of nearly 30,000 attendees from 143 countries worldwide engaged with each other and with the 6,000 mobility specialists representing technology vendors, solution providers and stakeholder organisations. Event attendance went up 30% compared to the previous edition with growth predominantly from outside the Netherlands, bringing volume back up to pre-corona standards. Conversations were focused on the future of mobility with public and private sector professionals seeking close cooperation to achieve common goals. The share of international attendance reached an all-time high of 79%. 20% of the international attendees came from outside Europe. 81% of all attendees are involved in the decision-making process and the ample networking opportunities were used to the max. Visitors expressed their appreciation with an unprecedented score of 8.6 and 92% wish to attend again in 2026. Exhibitor satisfaction is illustrated by the fact that 75% of floor space is already reserved for the next edition scheduled for 10 to 13 March 2026.

Abundance of knowledge
The Intertraffic Summit programme ran in 4 large theatres with over 130 sessions and 240+ speakers. This abundance of knowledge was eagerly consumed as some 10,000 theatre check-ins were logged. In essence, the plenary keynote session underscored the imperative for cities and regions to adopt forward-thinking strategies and collaborative approaches to ensure sustainable, resilient, and inclusive mobility for future generations. The presented mobility solutions, urban mobility visions and policy and enforcement guidelines addressed major sector challenges including urgent climate issues, construction, renovation and road maintenance and the rising number of road fatalities. The dedicated Parking Network symposium in Hall 12 was equally well attended as was the case for the many special side events. Over and above, numerous members of the ITS Nationals network were present throughout the week to join forces in accelerating towards smart, safe, and sustainable mobility for all.

Mobility trends that stood out
One evident theme was stimulating active travel and working towards sustainable and liveable cities, with the emphasis on cooperating in an ecosystem, successful MaaS applications and integrated services, software interoperability, data-driven platforms, inclusivity for all and creating digital infrastructures for MaaS and parking in MaaS offerings.

Another of the latest industry trends was data proliferation that continues to emerge as a focal point of the industry, driving demand for real-time advanced analytics software infused with AI and machine learning capabilities. There is a necessity for software solutions that bridge diverse systems, fostering synergies and accelerating interoperability within the industry. The traffic management sessions highlighted new technologies aimed at enhancing traffic flow, implementing intelligent, safe, and eco-friendly methods for traffic guidance, providing in-car real-time traffic information services, and adopting sustainable traffic management practices.

AI is perhaps the most talked-about element of the smart mobility transition. There’s not a facet of the industry that isn’t powered by, controlled by, influenced by or in the throes of putting some of its decision-making processes into the hands of artificial intelligence. Attendees were also able to learn about new technologies to improve road safety with AI, smart enforcement, and detection solutions, improving intersection safety and creating safer work zone areas, smart mobility applications to warn road users, smart asset management, smart sensor technology, speed and seatbelt enforcement.

The parking sector is repositioning itself as an intrinsic part of the smart mobility transition. Combining parking technology with EV charging, using technology and services to create an optimal customer journey, and the move towards maximising public space is being driven by the notion of sustainable mobility hubs, defined locations in a city where users can access multiple types of shared transportation options, such as e-bikes, scooters and micromobility vehicles. The European Parking Association is playing a leading role in the reinvention of parking as a mobility service and parking as a mobility platform.

The convenient co-location with Amsterdam Drone Week brought unmanned aerial vehicles up close as well as the latest air mobility developments. Embracing air mobility in cities is pivotal for numerous reasons, with sustainability at the forefront.

Market feedback
“The convergence of technology and transportation and the latest innovations are reshaping the sector,” said one enthused exhibitor. “From smart infrastructure to predictive maintenance, Intertraffic illuminated the path toward a more connected and efficient future, where data-driven insights fuel smarter decision-making and optimize transportation networks for the benefit of all.” Joyce de Winter, Director Intertraffic of RAI Amsterdam is delighted with how well Intertraffic Amsterdam 2024 was received. “We are very proud that the whole industry gathers at Intertraffic Amsterdam and that we are at the forefront of mobility innovation. We have seen a rise in the attendance of road authorities and policy makers of cities coming from all around the world. Our expectations have been exceeded in all aspects.”

Disruptive innovators at ITSUP startup event
Disruptive innovators bring the passion, fresh ideas and acceptance of failure that any rapidly evolving industry needs but understandably risk-averse supporters are often reserved about committing to. Intertraffic’s integrated startup event ITSUP allowed starting companies to present their smart mobility solutions to the seasoned Intertraffic audience. All were invited to work on a challenge prepared by sponsor Swarco. To remain successful and innovative, Swarco collaborates with start-ups to generate new ideas. The winner of the ITSUP challenge is embarking on a 6-month acceleration journey together with Swarco, to realize their project from pitch to realization. Swarco announced the winner of the ITSUP contest, with a twist of there not being one winner, but two! “The winner doesn’t only put the puzzle pieces together but also displays connectivity”, the jury stated. The lucky start-ups are Transcality and SMATS Traffic Solutions Inc. Transcality also came out on top in the pitch contest, hence securing a complimentary stand at Intertraffic Amsterdam 2026.

Three winning contestants Intertraffic Award
A theme that marked out two of the winners was noise reduction. Italian company See won the Green Globe Award for its highly innovative Sealed Air Whisper NB-Eco-40-A3 acoustic panels, while UK-based Intelligent Instruments won for its Sound Vue noise-enforcement camera system in the User Experience category. The coveted Inspiration Award was won by another British company Valerann, which particularly impressed the jury with its advanced real-time data analytics platform Lanternn by Valerann.

DESIGNA at Intertraffic 2018, Amsterdam

March 19, 2018

DESIGNA at Intertraffic 2018, Amsterdam

Kiel, 2018-03-19: The anticipation is building. From 20 – 23 March 2018, DESIGNA will be represented at Intertraffic 2018 in Amsterdam (stand 03.302), one of the world’s biggest traffic and transport industry trade fairs. Taking “Integrated Intelligence” as their theme, DESIGNA and its partner, ilogs, will be demonstrating the opportunities that the seamless interaction between inno- vative software features and the latest hardware offer for every industry.

Visitors can look forward to several firsts. For example the new sector-specific software offerings, CAPS, that will take parking management into a new dimen- sion, three new pay stations, and the 10th anniversary of the successful DESIGNA cloud service, ASP.

The DESIGNA trade fair highlights

CAPS – the new definition for optimised parking management

As unique as every company: CAPS made by DESIGNA are the new customised software solutions for parking management. Tailored specifically to each sector, CAPS meet a wide variety of demands. They also extend both the service offer- ing and workflow of car park operators easily at the click of a mouse.

A very special first: the introduction of three new pay stations.

That technical specifications and superior design go very much hand in hand is demonstrated by the three new DESIGNA pay stations – Pay Cash & Card, PAY Cashless and PAY Coinless. The special feature of the new pay stations is that they are specifically designed to cover the demand for different payment meth- ods. Different operating heights are also no problem, for example if a disability- friendly pay station is required.

An impressive anniversary – 10 years of the ASP Cloud Service.

There is hardly another service from 2008 to the present day that has elicited such a positive response on such a sustained basis from car park operators as the DESIGNA ASP cloud service. No wonder, since it offers the convenient out- sourcing of the entire IT system, a specially shielded server park, the lightning quick addition of, for example, parking services or the installation of the latest security updates. Currently around 45 million parking transactions take place every year via DESIGNA’s ASP cloud service.

Circontrol presents its global solution for Efficient Parking at Intertraffic

March 12, 2018

Circontrol presents its global solution for Efficient Parking at Intertraffic

Circontrol will be present at the leading trade fair for the mobility sector that will be held in Amsterdam from the 20th to the 23rd of March

Viladecavalls, 12th March 2018

From the 20th to the 23rd of March will be held in Amsterdam a new edition of Intertraffic, the world leading trade fair about traffic and mobility. Circontrol will participate one year more to present its global solution for Efficient Parking (Hall 2 Stand 02.216), which is able to manage all the needs related to parking through the CirPark platform.

Intertraffic attendants visiting Circontrol’s stand will discover a solution for Efficient Parking composed of three families of products giving a response to all operators’ necessities in an integrated way: iPark, EVPark and LedPark.

From its first edition in 1972, Intertraffic has become the most important event for professionals related to infrastructures, traffic management, road safety, parking and intelligent mobility. Thus, it is a perfect environment to present Circontrol technology which in the present manages 400.000 parking bays in more than 570 car parks around the world.

CirPark platform offers several applications and can be implemented in indoor and outdoor, public, semi-public and private car parks. In fact, CirPark has optimized very different kinds of car parks and has provided user satisfaction in shopping malls, corporates, hotels, airports, hospitals, universities, city centres, etc.

Multi-platform and mobile-oriented software infrastructure

In order to ease the installation and the functioning, CirPark is composed of a software, CirPark Scada, which is mobile-oriented and enables third-party integration. It is clearly a unique platform for a fully integrated Efficient Parking experience. iPark, for example, becomes a powerful management tool that optimises traffic in car parks and provides user satisfaction by giving them the information they need thanks to the Guidance and the Counting System but also to the Find Your Car feature, which provides car-finding solutions based on QR Code or License Plate Recognition.

The LEDPark regulates and manage a LED Light system with parking guidance accordingly with real-time occupancy and pedestrian movements. It achieves an installation and maintenance cost reduction thanks to its low power consumption and long-lasting equipment in less than 3 years Return on Investment.

Taking into account of the growth of electrical mobility, EVPark offers a wide range of EV chargers; wall/ground mount, slow/quick charging and single/double socket for both indoor and outdoor facilities. This point is particularly relevant if we consider a European directive establishing that in the following years all non-residential buildings with car parks with more than 10 parking bays will be obligated to reserve one of each ten parking space for EV Charging. As EV chargers manufacturers, Circontrol can provide not only chargers but also other solutions integrated with the Global Efficient Parking concept. The DLM (Dynamic Load Management), for example, is a key issue if there are several charging points as it ensures that only the available power of the installation is used, thus maximising its efficiency and avoiding the high cost of a power upgrade.

In a connected environment where mobile phones and geographical mobility are really important, CirPark solutions have been developed with this key point in mind as all the solutions can be managed through CirCloud, a cloud platform that receives data from car parks improving operator’s task and providing information to users through CirMobile, a generic mobile Application able to know if in a car park there is space availability or there is the possibility to charge an electric vehicle or not, for instance.

About Circontrol

Circontrol is a company founded in 1997 with headquarters in Viladecavalls (Barcelona). Its Parking division designs and manufacture a global solution for efficient parking (guidance system, LED Lighting, energetic efficiency). Its eMobility division manufactures a wide range of EV charging solutions that covers all market needs: domestic charge, slow charge (AC) and quick charge (DC).

Circontrol has a strong presence in the international market, where an 80% of its sales are allocated. Nowadays you can find Circontrol solutions in 52 countries with 30.000 charging points and 400.000 parking spaces managed with CirPark systems. Service is also very important for Circontrol, this is the reason why bet on a qualified aftersales service and a constant training for Circontrol partners are in company’s DNA.

“The platform provided by Scheidt & Bachmann was vital in bringing together parking organizations and Chief Officers to not miss opportunities to grow their own companies by ensuring that they tap in to  and recognize the women in their organizations who may and could enhance their businesses,” said Anjna Patel, past president of British Parking Association and Principal Officer of parking at Sandwell MBC in the United Kingdom.

Representatives from a variety of parking sectors including vendors, operators, consultants and public specialties participated in the event to learn more about the organization’s mission. A host of industry leaders were invited to speak at the event including Anjna Patel; Ashley Bijster, Managing Director of Imperial Civil Enforcement Solutions; and Laurence Bannerman, current president of European Parking Association.

“The response and turnout for the WIP European Event was amazing,” commented attendee Julie Dixon, President at Dixon Resources Unlimited and WIP member. “It was so rewarding to see how many of our colleagues enthusiastically attended to represent their support.”

The Women In Parking (WIP) organization was founded in the U.S. in 2011 to serve as the premier association dedicated to promoting the advancement and achievement of female parking professionals by providing networking, leadership, and career outreach opportunities to its members. For the past few years, Women In Parking has worked persistently to offer resources that all organizations within the industry can access and take full advantage of to improve and capitalize on a gender balanced workforce within their respective organizations.

Over 200 individual members and a number of corporate sponsors including Scheidt & Bachmann support the Women In Parking. It is the organization’s desire to see the same success with a European Chapter. According to Scheidt & Bachmann GmbH’s Parking Managing Director and EPA Board associate member Martin Kammler, “it is imperative that global leaders in parking recognize the valuable initiative that an organization such as Women In Parking can bring to business discussions. I am fully supportive of a more diverse environment where collaborative ideas can be brought to the table to reach our fullest potential. This is not only a matter of supporting gender equality in the workplace but more importantly about recognizing valuable talent within our organizations by giving them necessary tools to grow and succeed.”

Women In Parking will be holding future information and networking sessions at European parking conferences and expos. In the meantime, the organization will work towards attaining formal establishment of a European Chapter as well as recruiting a leadership board and members.
