LAZ PARKING PURCHASES SEATTLE-BASED INTERNATIONAL PARKING MANAGEMENT, INC. (IPM)

HARTFORD, Conn., April 4, 2024 — LAZ Parking, the largest and fastest-growing privately owned parking operator in the United States, is pleased to announce an asset purchased of Seattle-based (IPM) in a deal that will give LAZ a market-leading presence in the Seattle metro area.

The deal will add 14,000 parking spaces to the LAZ Parking family, making it one of the largest parking operators in Seattle. “This acquisition is a melding of like-minded companies committed to providing opportunities for their employees and serving the parking needs of their clients and the parking public,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of LAZ Parking. “LAZ is thrilled to be expanding in the Seattle Metro area and to have been entrusted by IPM to continue their tradition of excellence dating back to their founding in 1985.”

IPM is a parking market leader in Seattle, and the combined assets of LAZ and IPM will create a market-leading footprint in Seattle and surrounding communities with 74 employees. LAZ and IPM share cultural values in terms of the way they conduct business and care for employees. Other factors making IPM a strong fit include IPM’s outstanding leadership team, solid track record of retaining clients, and extensive local knowledge and relationships that have potential to create growth opportunities for LAZ.

IPM’s deep local knowledge, long-standing relationships, and extensive portfolio also offer LAZ new hotel storage opportunities.

IPM was founded in 1985 as Premier Parking by Joan and Steve Sundberg as an off-airport parking company. The company was purchased in 2006 by husband-and-wife team, Mark and Tracy Sundberg. The company has 74 employees and $40 million in managed revenues. Two senior leaders at IPM will join the LAZ leadership team: Scott Reisnouer, who brings over 30 years of experience in the Seattle parking market, and over 10 at IPM, and Scott Bly who also has 30 years of professional experience, including four years at IPM and work in the transportation industry. “We are excited and honored to be building on the hard work and visionary leadership of Mark and Tracy Sundberg and their team,” said LAZ President & Co-founder Jeff Karp. “Our shared cultures and approach to doing business make this an extraordinarily strong match and one that will enhance our ability to contribute to the Greater Seattle economy and deliver a state-of-the-art parking experience to customers and clients.”

The agreement with IPM is the latest in a long history of thoughtful, strategic acquisitions and partnerships that have built LAZ into the largest privately held parking company in America. Founded in 1981, LAZ Parking grew out of the childhood friendships of Lazowski, Karp, and fellow founders Michael Harth and Michael Kuziak. More than 40 years later, LAZ is still guided by the original values of those founders to “Create Opportunities for Our Employees and Value for Our Clients,” the same principles embodied in LAZ’s laser-focused mission, “The LAZ Way.”

Avail Car Sharing and LAZ Parking Enter Unique Partnership to Innovate Traditional Parking Garage Experience

First-of-its-kind agreement brings Avail to LAZ properties, expanding urban mobility options in the U.S.

CHICAGO, IL (November 3, 2022) – Avail, a car sharing platform protected by Allstate, and LAZ Parking, the fastest growing and second largest parking company in the country, are teaming up to change the way people use parking garages while making the car sharing journey even easier. The collaboration is the first time a car sharing company has directly integrated with a parking management company, enabling monthly parking subscribers to earn supplemental income by sharing their vehicle from the convenience of a commercial garage.

Avail will initially bring its car sharing marketplace and complementary customer service technologies to designated parking areas in 20 LAZ locations across Chicago and Denver, with over 100 integrated locations planned in the next year.

“We began asking what is the next step for car sharing and what more can a parking garage be.’” said Jason Mathias, president of Avail. “Our work with LAZ aims to answer these questions, making car sharing simpler and more accessible and allowing monthly LAZ subscribers to share their vehicles in a fresh, dynamic space. We are thrilled to offer this service with LAZ and lead the reinvention of parking garages.”

The partnership will debut November 3, 2022 in Chicago at LAZ Parking Grand Plaza, 540 N. State. The location will feature technologies including a digital agent to guide customers through the newly launched experience, a designated service station to care for vehicles, and an artificially intelligent camera system to help keep the platform safe and well-managed.

“The parking industry changed dramatically during the pandemic, forcing us to innovate,” said Alan Lazowski, chairman and founder of LAZ Parking. “We rose to the challenge, and through our work with Avail, we are providing a new type of service that helps vehicle owners offset the cost of their parking. It’s optimizing traditional parking garages into mobility hubs.”

Shared cars will be inspected, washed by Avail’s staff, and made available to borrow by vetted owners. As always with Avail, a best-in-class auto insurance from Allstate will offer peace of mind to Avail customers and partners. Avail plans to offer additional features, such as EV charging stations, to its LAZ locations in the future.

Members of the press interested in learning more or attending the debut in Chicago can contact Avail (media@availcarsharing.com) and LAZ Parking (mary@courseyco.com).

Perch Mobility Announces Nationwide Micromobility Charging Partnership With LAZ Parking

Pre-Registration Of Perch Community Charging Portals Now Open To Lime Logistics Partners And Bird Fleet Managers Looking To Maximize Profits

LOS ANGELES  — Perch Mobility, the premier provider of portable charging pods that fuel the micromobility industry, announced the launch of a nationwide partnership with LAZ Parking, one of the fastest-growing parking and mobility companies in the United States. Perch will deploy its Community Charging Portals in LAZ locations at the request of local logistics partners who charge vehicles for Bird, Lime and other operators; and fleet managers so that they can charge collected scooters in centrally located micromobility hubs through this partnership.

The multimillion-dollar micromobility industry has made waves in cities worldwide. With low unit economics, everyone from electric scooter operators to gig-economy logistics partners are looking for new methods to improve margins. Perch’s on-demand Community Charging Portals are now available to reserve for a monthly fee of $699. To reserve a Perch Community Charging Portal at a LAZ location, visit https://www.perchmobility.com/chargers.

“Electric scooters are a viable form of transportation – with one pitfall: the inefficiency of the current model to charge and release them back for public use,” said Perch Mobility CEO and Co-Founder Tom Schreiber. “Our Perch Community Portals are the key to overcome this efficiency barrier. LAZ’s national network of surface parking lots in high traffic micromobility markets is unparalleled.  Through our LAZ partnership, we will deploy a network of scooter charging centers to allow the nation’s scooter operators, community business owners, property managers, and professional chargers looking to maximize the potential of their ‘juicing’ activity.”

Perch Mobility owns and operates a network of proprietary micromobility charging centers (“Portals”), which it leases to professional chargers, scooter operators, and business owners, who use the company’s Community Charging Portals to bulk-charge scooters and maximize profit potential. The company is accelerating and operationalizing its plans to build an optimized micromobility charging ecosystem to keep up with the growing demand for shared micromobility transportation in a growing number of cities.

Each 20-foot Perch Community Charging Portal is a customized recycled shipping container modified to deliver up to 250kWh per day.  Typical use runs twice the average US household’s power consumption. Each Perch Community Charging Portal has four bays (Pods), which each has the capacity to charge 21 scooters, with a total unit capacity of 84 scooters at a time.  Each Portal can support about 300 deployed scooters in a community.

“At LAZ, we see the intersection of transportation, electrification, and last mile logistics converging at the parking lot,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman and CEO of LAZ Parking. “Partnering with Perch Mobility presents an incredible opportunity to support an eco-friendlier way of mobility and to help maximize the profits of individuals quite literally paving the success of electric scooter travel. We are enthusiastic about this partnership and our future endeavors together.”

In addition to the Perch Community Charging Portal, Perch manufactures an Enterprise Portal, that is capable of charging 105 scooters simultaneously.

City of Inglewood and LAZ Parking Promote Remote Parking and Shuttle Program to Serve Fans for First Full Attendance NFL Season at Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium

INGLEWOOD, CA — Following a spectator-less debut NFL season caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Inglewood’s SoFi Stadium is kicking off its first full-attendance NFL season on August 14th with an exciting hometown rival pre-season game that will see the Los Angeles Rams play the Los Angeles Chargers. In recent weeks, the City of Inglewood announced several transportation options to SoFi Stadium for NFL games—including its partnership with LAZ Parking on the launch of the City’s IPark&Go remote parking and shuttle program. This new initiative will help to promote a more positive experience both for local residents and for event attendees traveling to SoFi Stadium. Because traditional onsite parking options at SoFi Stadium will be limited for NFL games and other large events, the expansion of alternative, high occupancy transportation solutions are intended to provide greener, convenient, and affordable travel options and create a unique event experience in the Los Angeles County area.

This parking alternative will allow attendees to streamline their parking experience with a convenient, affordable and safe parking option that allows ticket holders to find, reserve, and pay for parking spaces and shuttle service in advance of their event.

After arriving at their parking destination and parking their vehicles, fans and event attendees board a shuttle bus that will take them to the City of Inglewood’sIntermodal Transit Facility, conveniently located next to SoFi Stadium, and back, typically within 30 minutes or less each way.

To use IPark&Go, guests can follow these simple steps:

  1. Visit iPARKANDGO.com to purchase offsite parking and shuttle transport in advance. Parking and shuttle transport can also be booked using the LAZgo mobile app.

Note that the exact availability of locations and parking spaces may vary based on the event, and additional parking partners and locations may be added to the IPark&Go program over time. Please check iPARKANDGO.com or the LAZgo mobile app for the most current information on parking availability and pricing.

IPark&Go is available for NFL pre-season and regular season games, starting on August 14, 2021, and is anticipated to be available to guests attending events at SoFi Stadium and the Hollywood Park for events with more than 40,000 attendees.

Summer 2021: Advanced Technologies and Predictive Analytics from LAZ Parking Reduce Traffic Tie-Ups at Busy Rhode Island State Beaches

June 29, 2021

Summer 2021: Advanced Technologies and Predictive Analytics from LAZ Parking Reduce Traffic Tie-Ups at Busy Rhode Island State Beaches

Express lanes for residents and visitors who purchase parking passes before they head to the beach

will park faster and start having fun sooner

Providence, R.I. —The Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (DEM), which operates eight saltwater beaches and associated parking facilities, has once again partnered with LAZ Parking to modernize, digitize, and streamline parking for more than one million annual beachgoers this year. Rhode Island has implemented a customized technology platform built upon LAZ’s e-commerce, business intelligence, and customer care solutions.

The technology allows residents and out-of-state visitors to purchase season parking passes and daily flex passes at https://beachparkingri.com. With a Daily Flex Pass, beachgoers are automatically charged the daily parking rate when their vehicle enters one of the state beach parking lots. The flex parking pass is a great option if a beachgoer is unsure how many times they may visit the beach but would like the opportunity to use the express lanes.

Both passes use state-of-the art license plate recognition technology for validation and allow passholders to access express lanes for faster entry. The technology was in limited use in 2020 before being suspended due to travel restrictions and capacity limits associated with COVID-19.

Improvements include allowing customers to buy both day and season online passes in advance, express lanes using license plate recognition technology for prepaid customers at some locations, capability to provide real-time parking lot capacity data that DEM can use to communicate alerts when lots are at or near capacity, and capability to capture visitation and revenue numbers in real time to ensure that the right fees are being charged and collected for every transaction. Initial data showed that purchasing a season or flex pass online and using an express lane significantly reduced the time to park.

To help reduce the amount of time beachgoers spend at the entry booths, DEM encourages Rhode Islanders to buy season and daily flex parking passes online or in advance. Anyone who buys a season parking pass or a daily flex parking pass online or before heading to the beach may use the express lanes for quick beach entry. Purchasing season or daily flex parking passes online also helps DEM keep express lanes open, as there have been past instances when the express lanes could not be used because too many people were paying for parking at the entry gates rather using pre-paid parking passes.

“Per-vehicle transaction times at beach entrance booths for sales of seasonal beach passes previously took up to three minutes a car,” Gray said. “If you multiply that by the thousands of cars we welcome on busy summer weekends, the time really adds up and means worse traffic backups and delays for everyone. This technology will be even more critical in 2021, as the state expects record crowds this year.”

Predictive Analytics Makes Parking Smarter & Safer

In addition to the digital payment solutions provided by the LAZ technology (i.e., online passes, credit card payment onsite), the LAZ Business Intelligence solution allows DEM’s Division of Parks and Recreation to collect, organize, and analyze data to improve the parking process.

This technology was critical in 2020 during the pandemic because of frequent changes to capacity limits, new federal and state regulations, and heightened safety concerns by consumers. With the new technology stack in place, DEM could easily provide accurate data to demonstrate compliance with all COVID restrictions and guidelines.

Dynamic data visualization eliminates guesswork by integrating multiple data sets (e.g., real-time lot capacity, historical parking data, current weather, seasonality, tide charts, etc.) to predict and manage potential over-crowding. This information can be used to increase/decrease the number of spots that are available, communicate alerts when lots are at or near capacity, and manage staffing decisions.

“The Rhode Island team is a great partner for us because we are both always looking to take our data analysis to the next step,” said Patrick Ryan, Vice President, Innovation, LAZ Parking. “Our proprietary forecasting and predictive analytics tools allow us to make sound business decisions based on hard data and the LAZ team’s decades of operating experience and expertise.”

LAZ Parking is one of the largest parking companies in the world. The company is an industry leader in client-facing technologies that are reinventing the parking industry. In addition to access, e-commerce, and business intelligence, LAZ is a pioneer in the areas of touchless parking, text-to-park, cellular payments, and tools for the connected car.

“LAZ has worked closely with DEM’s Division of Parks and Recreation and been a great partner in enhancing services to benefit our customers,” said DEM’s Gray. “They work fast, their technology is scalable, and as they showed during the pandemic, they are focused on our needs and willing to work with us during a changing environment.”

LAZ is also a developing player in the “proximity on-demand” services sector. LAZ is developing a proprietary platform of adjacent products and services that allows parking lot owners and landlords to enhance customer loyalty and unlock new revenue streams by delivering high-value, real-time services to customers. Examples of these services include electric vehicle charging stations, kitchen pods, urban farming, micro warehouses, and same-day delivery.
