Bringing Total to Five

Expanded contract makes LAZ sole operator of city’s municipal parking garages

Hartford, CT, May 26, 2021 – LAZ Parking announced today that it has been selected by the City of Syracuse, NY, to be the sole operator of its municipal parking garages. The addition of three municipal garages brings the total number being managed and operated by LAZ for the City of Syracuse to five. LAZ has run the City’s Fayette Garage since 2009 and AXA Garage since 2014. Under the expanded contract, LAZ will also run the City’s Washington Street Garage, Center Armory Garage, and the Madison-Irving Garage.

“LAZ is thrilled to have been selected by the City of Syracuse to run all five municipal parking facilities,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman and CEO of LAZ Parking. “It is an acknowledgment of the value and high level of service LAZ has delivered to the City and the trust that municipal leaders have in our ability to maintain that level of service in the future. This expansion of services will also allow us to grow our workforce and add jobs to the local economy, a crucial component of the nation’s recovery from the pandemic.”

Headquartered in Hartford, CT, LAZ is a privately owned parking company celebrating its 40th anniversary in business this year. As the second-largest, fastest-growing parking company in the country, LAZ has become a significant player in the New York Region’s parking industry. LAZ provides parking services and solutions across various market segments, including Hospitality, Healthcare, Residential, Retail, and Events. LAZ has made significant upgrades to municipal garages in Syracuse, including side terminals allowing for payment by credit card. Monthly parking customers are now able to pay by credit card through their accounts on Lazparking.com. Later this year, LAZ is planning upgrades to its Subscription Billing platform, which will allow monthly parkers to manage their accounts online and access flexible, automatic payment options.

“Consolidating parking operations with LAZ is a positive step for both the City and the people using these garages,” said Corey Driscoll Dunham, Chief Operating Officer of the City of Syracuse. “Partnering with LAZ will allow us to improve the user experience at these garages, including more convenient payment options at all five facilities.”

LAZ PARTNERS WITH APPLICO TO HELP LEAD THE DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION OF THE PARKING INDUSTRY

The collaboration will utilize business platform model to scale “Proximity on Demand’ services across 3,100 locations nationwide and the parking industry at large

Hartford, Conn., May 11, 2021 — LAZ Parking announced today that it has partnered with leading platform advisory and investment firm, Applico, Inc., to support the digital transformation of its services and the parking industry. Applico will help LAZ incorporate “proximity on-demand” services or PODS into its traditional parking operations. PODS is a proprietary platform of adjacent products and services that allows parking lot owners and landlords to enhance customer loyalty and unlock new revenue streams by delivering high-value, real-time services to customers.

Applico is based in New York and has offices in San Francisco. It partners with industry leaders like LAZ to build viable platform businesses by adopting technologies, products, or services. It creates value by enabling direct and frequent interactions between customers and producers.

LAZ Parking is one of the nation’s largest parking companies. It operates over 1.3 million parking spaces in 35 states and 439 cities across the United States and is ideally suited to deliver on this model. LAZ’s PODS strategy leverages its network of parking garages and other facilities to introduce technologies that enhance existing services or introduce entirely new ones. Examples include a hands-free parking experience or electric vehicle charging stations. Possible new services include ghost kitchens, rooftop solar panels, and lots for urban farming, micro warehouses, same-day delivery, last-block delivery, and other last or “LAZ” mile delivery solutions.

Applico will facilitate LAZ Parking’s investment in this space and dramatically accelerate partnerships with technology providers, startups, and enterprises over the next 12-24 months. Distribution and staging, logistics, delivery, electric vehicle deployment, and storage are among the initial areas of research and investment.

“We chose Applico to partner with us on this journey because they are innovative, creative, and effective at helping enterprises capture new, tech-enabled business models,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman and CEO of LAZ Parking. “We intend to remake LAZ into America’s most digital parking operator. The future of parking lies in deploying these technologies in ways that transform traditional parking locations into logistics hubs serving the needs of a diversified, increasingly digital economy. We see a huge opportunity for partnerships across the entire spectrum of technology and economy; players large and small.”

Applico’s team of tech entrepreneurs and finance professionals will engage on behalf of LAZ with startups, technology providers, and enterprises across a range of verticals. These partnerships will initially serve LAZ’s network of parking partners but ultimately can be sold as a service to others in the parking industry.

“Because of their size, reach and reputation, LAZ is well positioned to broaden its array of services for both enterprises and consumers,” said Applico CEO. Alex Moazed. “By embracing strategic partnerships, LAZ can use its national scale to provide Proximity on Demand services that will transform the industry for the next 20 years.”

LAZ Parking Announces New Electric Vehicle Charging Program to Install 500 New Charging Stations at Locations Nationwide

As part of this new initiative, 500 Tesla Connectors will be rolled out nationwide at LAZ locations.

HARTFORD, Conn., April 29, 2021  — LAZ Parking announced a new electric vehicle (EV) charging program today. The initiative will bring 500 new Tesla Connectors to LAZ Parking locations nationwide.

Company officials said that Tesla vehicles account for more than 85 percent of electric cars in use across the United States. By installing Tesla Charging, LAZ will attract Tesla drivers to its parking garages via Tesla’s in-app and in-car touch screens. By hosting Tesla charging zones at current and future locations, LAZ can generate incremental revenue for clients. Residential, commercial, hotel, and retail locations are the primary focus of the initial launch.

“Providing value for our clients and customers is, and always has been, at the heart of everything we do as a company,” said LAZ Chairman and CEO Alan Lazowski. “This initiative recognizes the rapid growth of the electric vehicle market and positions our clients to meet the fast-growing demand for charging stations. At the same time, it provides clients with a way to implement these upgrades at a significantly reduced cost while benefitting from the revenue generated from the use of chargers.”

Tesla is rolling out a pay-for-use charge network throughout LAZ locations. Rates will be competitive and comparable to other Tesla chargers in each area.

“The EV market is growing exponentially, and our customers will need more and more charging,” Lazowski said. “As LAZ expands its Proximity on Demand Services (PODS), it is imperative that we enable EV charging transactions within our parking facilities for our customers and clients.”

WellSpark Health and LAZ Parking Partner to Create Next Generation Employee Benefits

December 03, 2020

WellSpark Health and LAZ Parking Partner to Create Next Generation Employee Benefits

FARMINGTON, CT (December 3, 2020) – WellSpark Health, a leading wellbeing, disease prevention and management company and LAZ Parking, one of the largest parking companies in the country, have partnered to create a next generation employee benefit program in support of the modern workforce. The innovative program is built to understand and respond to the realities people face in our complex world when managing their life and health.

As a conscious, people-first company, LAZ Parking is committed to taking care of its employees and considers offering benefit choices that support individual differences a critical part of that work. With a diverse workforce spread across the country, LAZ was looking for a partner that could help their employees, also known as “LAZ family members,” create sustainable lifestyle changes to cultivate improved physical, mental and emotional well-being. “As an employer, we believe it is our responsibility to give employees access to tools, information and support that help them cultivate holistic well-being or, what we call, ‘being whole.’ This partnership with WellSpark, along with implementing value-based insurance design, will support our LAZ family members by making access to care, as well as individualized programs and resources, easily available,” said Andi Campbell, Senior Vice President, Human Resources at LAZ Parking. Ms. Campbell is known for creating scalable “people” strategies that drive measurable results.

WellSpark’s program, powered by Silver Fern Healthcare’s proven, proprietary behavior diagnostic toolset, is built to address the unique bio-psycho-social aspects of each individual and responds to the realities of their world, ensuring engagement. Using data to create customized programs, WellSpark achieves enduring results that positively impact both employers and employees. As an example, WellSpark’s Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) has been recognized as exceeding national averages of traditional CDC Programs, yielding increased average weight loss and reduced A1c levels. “WellSpark and LAZ share a vision that it’s time for a new model of employee benefits. One that is focused on supporting the multiple dimensions of a person’s life as opposed to the current fragmented single point solutions. Once established this model can solve for multiple business issues associated with the health of a workforce such as the cost of absenteeism related to illness, disability, and workers compensation. Adding the dimension of emotional support to the employee benefit suite also increases employee satisfaction,” said Roberta Wachtelhausen, WellSpark’s President.

LAZ began partnering with WellSpark in July 2020. LAZ and WellSpark executed an extensive employee education campaign to accompany implementation this fall. Several studies are planned for 2021 to measure the impact of this new, disruptive model.

LAZ Sr. VP Receives Women In Parking IMPACT Award

Andi Campbell one of four LAZ Employees Recognized by the National Parking Association

Hartford, CT – Sept. 17, 2020,  Andi Campbell, Sr. Vice President of Human Resources at LAZ Parking, has been awarded the 2020 Women in Parking IMPACT Award, LAZ CEO Alan Lazowski, announced today.  The honor is given annually by the National Parking Association (NPA) and the Women In Parking Advisory Board.  A panel of industry peers selected Campbell as “an outstanding parking executive who fosters inclusion, professional development and the advancement of parking professionals – particularly women,” according to a letter to Campbell from NPA President Christine Banning.

“As the leader of People + Culture, Andi has been game changer for LAZ,” Lazowski said. “In her eight years at LAZ, she has distinguished herself as an innovator, mentor, and thought leader not only within our company but across the parking industry. I can’t think of anyone more deserving of the honor.”

Campbell joined LAZ in 2012 as Vice President of Talent Development and has been Senior Vice President of HR since 2018. She leads people and culture initiatives at LAZ and is best known for creating scalable “people” strategies that drive measurable results. The award is the latest of many for Campbell. She was named to a “Top 40 Young Trainers” list by Training Magazine in 2012, recognized as a “Game Changer” by Workforce Magazine in 2014, and to a “Top 40 Under 40” list by the NPA in 2015.

“To be acknowledged for work you love doing is humbling,” Campbell said of the IMPACT award. “I want to thank Alan and my LAZ family for creating a work environment that fosters growth and opportunity for me and thousands of other LAZ employees.”

Three other LAZ employees – Maggie DiPaolo, Alex Hooker, and Stephane Adovelande – were named by NPA to this year’s “40  Under 40” list. The awards honor young professionals under the age of 40 who have distinguished themselves as rising stars in the parking and transportation industry.

Honorees are identified through a peer-reviewed selection process that recognizes parking professionals who demonstrate innovation, integrity, and excellence. NPA and its Young Professionals Network are growing thanks to a dynamic influx of talent that is expanding as the parking industry evolves, Banning added.

“Our three winners this year have been up-and-comers within our company for some time, so it’s fitting that their talents and drive be recognized by their peers in the industry,” Lazowski said. “These outstanding young professionals are the future leaders of our industry.”

LAZ Parking Implements Measures In Reaction To Impact Of COVID-19

Establishes Employee Relief Fund to Support Temporarily Furloughed Employees

HARTFORD, Conn., March 20, 2020 — Alan Lazowski, Chief Executive Officer of LAZ Parking, underscored his company’s commitment Thursday to protecting customers, clients and employees impacted by the evolving threat of COVID-19, or Coronavirus.

In a separate letter, Lazowski assured employees that the LAZ senior leadership response team is monitoring the unfolding situation, tracking developments, and taking all recommended measures to keep everyone safe.

“The health and safety of our customers, clients, and employees across our 3,100 locations and 423 cities is, and always will be, our highest priority,” Lazowski said. “As this situation continues to unfold, we will closely monitor and take guidance from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, as well as state and local health officials around the country.”

LAZ is also responding to the significant downturn across all aspects of the economy impacting the industries that LAZ serves, including stadiums, entertainment venues, restaurants, office buildings, hotels, airports, and universities. During these unprecedented times LAZ and its dedicated team of leaders throughout the nation are working tirelessly 24/7 to protect as many jobs as they can and the long-term future of the company.

LAZ has also notified its employees that a percentage of its workforce will be temporarily reduced at this time with the intention of being rehired once the crisis subsides and business rebounds.

“It is going to take difficult sacrifices and federal government intervention to bridge the financial gap created by this pandemic and help our nation’s workforce receive higher unemployment benefits during this crisis,” added Lazowski. “We have been and will continue to be in contact with the highest levels in government in order to advocate for our people, our company and members of the entire parking industry. We are asking that the federal government provide relief to the parking industry and our temporarily reduced workforce and pay as close to 100% of employees’ wages during the layoff period. We are optimistic that the federal government will do the right thing.”

LAZ’ founding partners will not take any pay for at least the next 90 days and have established a $1,000,000 Employee Relief Fund, where furloughed team members can apply for financial grants.  There will be no expectation of grant repayment and the money. Since 1981, LAZ has navigated many business challenges in times of extreme volatility. The company wants to assure the public that the Spirit of LAZ, rooted in its “Never Ever Give Up” attitude, has never been stronger!

Hartford, CT  – October 1, 2019LAZ Parking is proud to announce its partnership agreement to manage related operations for The Wynwood Garage in the Wynwood Arts District of Miami. Developed and owned by Goldman Properties, The Wynwood Garage was designed by world-renowned Faulders Studio as a transformative and functional work of art to keep up with the area’s demand for convenient and reliable parking services.

The Wynwood Garage is the first and only garage in the Wynwood Arts District.
