LAZ PARKING PURCHASES SEATTLE-BASED INTERNATIONAL PARKING MANAGEMENT, INC. (IPM)

HARTFORD, Conn., April 4, 2024 — LAZ Parking, the largest and fastest-growing privately owned parking operator in the United States, is pleased to announce an asset purchased of Seattle-based (IPM) in a deal that will give LAZ a market-leading presence in the Seattle metro area.

The deal will add 14,000 parking spaces to the LAZ Parking family, making it one of the largest parking operators in Seattle. “This acquisition is a melding of like-minded companies committed to providing opportunities for their employees and serving the parking needs of their clients and the parking public,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of LAZ Parking. “LAZ is thrilled to be expanding in the Seattle Metro area and to have been entrusted by IPM to continue their tradition of excellence dating back to their founding in 1985.”

IPM is a parking market leader in Seattle, and the combined assets of LAZ and IPM will create a market-leading footprint in Seattle and surrounding communities with 74 employees. LAZ and IPM share cultural values in terms of the way they conduct business and care for employees. Other factors making IPM a strong fit include IPM’s outstanding leadership team, solid track record of retaining clients, and extensive local knowledge and relationships that have potential to create growth opportunities for LAZ.

IPM’s deep local knowledge, long-standing relationships, and extensive portfolio also offer LAZ new hotel storage opportunities.

IPM was founded in 1985 as Premier Parking by Joan and Steve Sundberg as an off-airport parking company. The company was purchased in 2006 by husband-and-wife team, Mark and Tracy Sundberg. The company has 74 employees and $40 million in managed revenues. Two senior leaders at IPM will join the LAZ leadership team: Scott Reisnouer, who brings over 30 years of experience in the Seattle parking market, and over 10 at IPM, and Scott Bly who also has 30 years of professional experience, including four years at IPM and work in the transportation industry. “We are excited and honored to be building on the hard work and visionary leadership of Mark and Tracy Sundberg and their team,” said LAZ President & Co-founder Jeff Karp. “Our shared cultures and approach to doing business make this an extraordinarily strong match and one that will enhance our ability to contribute to the Greater Seattle economy and deliver a state-of-the-art parking experience to customers and clients.”

The agreement with IPM is the latest in a long history of thoughtful, strategic acquisitions and partnerships that have built LAZ into the largest privately held parking company in America. Founded in 1981, LAZ Parking grew out of the childhood friendships of Lazowski, Karp, and fellow founders Michael Harth and Michael Kuziak. More than 40 years later, LAZ is still guided by the original values of those founders to “Create Opportunities for Our Employees and Value for Our Clients,” the same principles embodied in LAZ’s laser-focused mission, “The LAZ Way.”

“LAZ is honored to have been chosen to manage parking operations at this prominent property at the heart of the White Plains central business district,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of LAZ Parking. “We work hard every day to provide the highest level of service to clients and customers. This contract is an acknowledgment that we are succeeding at that.”

Argent purchased the property in 2017. The garage attached to Westchester One garage is renovated and renovations and upgrades are underway in the lobby, cafeteria and tenant lounge of the building. LAZ to Manage Parking Service at The Parking Club, Parking Condos in Brooklyn

LAZ to Manage Parking Service at The Parking Club, Parking Condos in Brooklyn

Hartford, CT – April 24, 2023, LAZ Parking announced today that it has been selected to manage parking services at The Parking Club, a luxury condominium parking facility in the Cobble Hill neighborhood of Brooklyn, N.Y. Under the terms of the contract with The Parking Club’s Board of Directors, LAZ will oversee a range of services provided to parking space owners and lease holders paying monthly rent for a space at the facility, located at 185-187 Pacific St. in Brooklyn. In addition to having their cars parked, owners and monthly renters are offered valet car delivery to their homes, offices, the airport and out of town; car washing, car charging, and concierge car services such as oil changes. The three-story garage has a total of 150 parking spaces.

“We are beyond excited about our partnership with The Parking Club,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and Founder of LAZ Parking. “This is a unique opportunity to take our services to a whole new level,”

“LAZ has a long history of delivering first-in-class service to customers and clients,” added Jeff Sanders, LAZ Parking’s Regional Vice President for New York and New Jersey. “We’re proud of that reputation and grateful to the Board of Directors for selecting LAZ to serve the specialized needs of their owners and discerning customers.”

Cobble Hill is a picturesque, upscale neighborhood with scarce on-street parking. By purchasing a parking space, Parking Club owners avoid the daily hassle of finding a parking spot. Another benefit of ownership is the value it adds to the owner’s home. Should they choose to sell, owners have the option of attaching the deeded parking space to the sale

The Parking Club is the latest addition to LAZ’s growing portfolio of residential business and an exciting new twist on traditional parking management services at residential properties. To summon their cars, owners send a text and within 15 minutes, the car is ready for pick-up. The garage is staffed, has 24-hour security, and an owner’s lounge with water, coffee and renovated rest rooms.

“LAZ has vast experience in managing residential parking operations and our clients and customers reap the benefits of that,” said Jorge Brandao, a LAZ General Manager overseeing operations in New York. “We take great pride in delivering unparalleled service tailored to the needs of our customers and clients and look forward to taking that tradition to new heights at The Parking Club.”

Avail Car Sharing and LAZ Parking Enter Unique Partnership to Innovate Traditional Parking Garage Experience

Avail Car Sharing and LAZ Parking Enter Unique Partnership to Innovate Traditional Parking Garage Experience

First-of-its-kind agreement brings Avail to LAZ properties, expanding urban mobility options in the U.S.

CHICAGO, IL (November 3, 2022) – Avail, a car sharing platform protected by Allstate, and LAZ Parking, the fastest growing and second largest parking company in the country, are teaming up to change the way people use parking garages while making the car sharing journey even easier. The collaboration is the first time a car sharing company has directly integrated with a parking management company, enabling monthly parking subscribers to earn supplemental income by sharing their vehicle from the convenience of a commercial garage.

Avail will initially bring its car sharing marketplace and complementary customer service technologies to designated parking areas in 20 LAZ locations across Chicago and Denver, with over 100 integrated locations planned in the next year.

“We began asking what is the next step for car sharing and what more can a parking garage be.’” said Jason Mathias, president of Avail. “Our work with LAZ aims to answer these questions, making car sharing simpler and more accessible and allowing monthly LAZ subscribers to share their vehicles in a fresh, dynamic space. We are thrilled to offer this service with LAZ and lead the reinvention of parking garages.”

The partnership will debut November 3, 2022 in Chicago at LAZ Parking Grand Plaza, 540 N. State. The location will feature technologies including a digital agent to guide customers through the newly launched experience, a designated service station to care for vehicles, and an artificially intelligent camera system to help keep the platform safe and well-managed.

“The parking industry changed dramatically during the pandemic, forcing us to innovate,” said Alan Lazowski, chairman and founder of LAZ Parking. “We rose to the challenge, and through our work with Avail, we are providing a new type of service that helps vehicle owners offset the cost of their parking. It’s optimizing traditional parking garages into mobility hubs.”

Shared cars will be inspected, washed by Avail’s staff, and made available to borrow by vetted owners. As always with Avail, a best-in-class auto insurance from Allstate will offer peace of mind to Avail customers and partners. Avail plans to offer additional features, such as EV charging stations, to its LAZ locations in the future.

Members of the press interested in learning more or attending the debut in Chicago can contact Avail (media@availcarsharing.com) and LAZ Parking (mary@courseyco.com).

LAZ Becomes an Accredited Parking Organization

International designation recognizes national and international standards for parking management and operations, customer service, professional development, safety, and security.

Hartford, CT –  LAZ Parking recently earned status as an Accredited Parking Organization (APO), joining an elite class of the top organizations in the industry. APO is a designation for organizations that recognizes best practices in responsible parking management and operations, customer service, professional development, sustainability and access management, safety, data security and risk management, and more.

“It’s quite an achievement, which follows a lengthy and arduous review process,” explained Shawn Conrad, CAE, CEO of the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI), the organization that sets the standards for APO Accreditation and Accreditation with Distinction.  The APO program was established to set industry standards that develop, ensure, and support a high level of professionalism and competency in parking, transportation, and mobility management.

To earn the APO Accreditation, an organization must demonstrate its commitment to ongoing evaluation and improvement through the implementation of industry best practices. Applicant organizations work with third-party reviewers to present evidence of accomplishment of more than 100 criteria in 14 categories, in addition to 25 required criteria.  Accreditation requires that at least one facility is evaluated and meets the criteria as established by the APO Board of Directors.

“Parking at an accredited facility or operation assures the public that the organization adheres to a strict code of ethics and meets national and internationally endorsed standards for professionalism, accountability, responsibility, and performance,” Conrad said.

“LAZ is so very proud to have earned this distinction,” said Alan Lazowski, Chairman, CEO, and founder of LAZ Parking. “IPMI accreditation is an acknowledgement of our excellence in customer service, operations, employee development and a multitude of other areas. It also validates all the hard work each and every member of the LAZ team does day in and day out to achieve those results.”

Los Angeles World Airports and LAZ Parking Win International Parking & Mobility Institute Award of Excellence for the LAX-it Taxi and Pickup Service Ride App

2021 IPMI Awards of Excellence winners exemplify creativity, forward-thinking, and commitment to mobility and sustainability.

Los Angeles, CA., November 22, 2021Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) and LAZ Parking have been recognized by the International Parking & Mobility Institute (IPMI) with a 2021 Award of Excellence for the LAX-it Taxi and Pickup Service Ride App. LAX-it received the award for Innovation in a Mobility, Transportation, or Parking Program, placing the service among the industry’s top programs.

Over the last decade, traffic congestion on the roadways and front curbs of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) has grown dramatically due to the popularity of Transportation Network Companies (TNCs) like Uber and Lyft, as well as steady growth in air passengers. Projections showed vehicular traffic within the Central Terminal Area (CTA) would become increasingly dense without an innovative mitigation while the airport’s modernization built the long-term solutions including an Automated People Mover train. Los Angeles World Airports (LAWA) implemented a visionary solution to this problem by moving TNCs and taxis from the CTA and having them pick up customers at an adjacent lot designed for this purpose.

“LAX-it” (pronounced “LA Exit”) is a ground-breaking service that removes tens of thousands of vehicles per day from the CTA’s traffic congestion and provides a fleet of shuttle buses to transport passengers from the terminal to the pickup point, where their ride is waiting. When the time came to select an operating partner with the expertise, commitment, and flexibility to take on this ambitious new service LAWA selected LAZ Parking, a recognized innovation leader in the parking and mobility industry. Since assuming the management of LAX-it, LAZ has transported millions of passengers and, during peak operations, facilitated over 30,000 daily rideshare pickups.

IPMI Awards of Excellence showcase outstanding parking and transportation facilities and innovative parking, transportation, and mobility industry programs. Judges from every segment of the industry review entries and rank them according to a range of criteria.

“This year’s Awards of Excellence winners showcase creativity, innovation, sustainability, and a commitment to the future of transportation and mobility,” said IPMI CEO Shawn D. Conrad, CAE. “Their attention to excellence benefits both their operations and their local communities, and it’s an honor to recognize and celebrate these projects and organizations.”

“LAZ Parking is thrilled to share this recognition with LAWA and to be selected as their partner on the new LAX-it service,” added Alan Lazowski, Chairman and CEO of LAZ Parking. “We are humbled to yet again be recognized for our parking and logistics expertise and to be entrusted by LAWA to deliver a solution that better serves customers and provides a sustainable, cost-effective solution to the challenges facing the mobility, transportation, and parking industries.”

IPMI is the world’s largest and leading association for professionals and organizations in the parking and mobility industry. More details on this year’s award winners can be found in a special feature in Parking & Mobility magazine, as well as on IPMI’s website. They will be honored in-person at the 2021 IPMI Parking & Mobility Conference & Expo, Nov. 29 – Dec. 3, Tampa, Fla. The 2022 IPMI Awards of Excellence competition will open in January 2022.
