Humanitarian Yo-Yo Ma visits MeterFeeder hometown to celebrate it’s cultural revival.

Braddock (PA)– World renowned musician, cellist, and humanitarian Yo-Yo Ma visited MeterFeeder’s hometown of Braddock, PA today to recognize the successful cultural revival of the community. Mr. Ma is known for his work in using music to bringing cultures and communities together.

Mr. Ma took a walking tour of Braddock art installations, spaces, and local businesses in the morning, and ended with a cultural conversation in the afternoon at the Greater Valley Community Services Rec Room where he discussed the work of Braddock civic leaders, local artists, and business owners. The John F. Kennedy Center is hosting the event through their Arts Across America campaign. The goal of the initiative is “to uplift and celebrate the unexpected, undiscovered, and everyday communities that are committed to using the arts to promote connection, a strong creative economy, and increased cultural citizenship”.

MeterFeeder,a minority owned company, is proud to be a part of this growing, changing, and thriving community. CEO Jim Gibbs had this to say: “I’m so excited that this community and its talented citizens are being recognized by a man such as Yo-Yo Ma. They really deserve all the recognition that they are getting, and I’m happy to be here to celebrate with them.”

MeterFeeder joined the Braddock community in the summer of 2016. Moving their headquarters–from Mountain View, CA to the Pittsburgh suburb–the MeterFeeder team wanted to position themselves to work, hands-on, with the small to mid-sized municipalities that makeup a large portion of their client-base.

“Building future citiesalso includes building future main streets,“ Mr. Gibbs emphasized, “We are building the systems that to allow the technology improvements that are happening in the top technology centers to be accepted in economically depressed areas.”

McKeesport PA to Launch MeterFeeder™ App for Parking

McKeesport, PA On Tuesday January 17th, McKeesport will be accepting payments through the MeterFeeder app along with MeterFeeder’s parking enforcement tools. The onstreet meters in the downtown area will be enforced daily for both shortterm and longterm parking. Drivers parking in designated areas will have the added advantage to pay for parking with the MeterFeeder app which syncs payments with enforcement in realtime.

McKeesport has close to 300 onstreet meters in their downtown area and the mobile payment app will be available as an added convenience to all business customers, residents, and visitors who frequently must pay for parking in the area. The Mayor and City Administrator of McKeesport is excited and hopeful that patrons will be happy to have more options for parking and use the app often.

“The most appealing part of MeterFeeder’s service is that customers don’t need to return to their vehicle to add money to the meter,” states Mayor Michael Cherepko “If you are waiting longer than expected for an appointment or if you spend extra time shopping, all you have to do is tap your smartphone or tablet and your meter is paid.” City Administrator Matt Gergely said this convenience should boost McKeesport’s parking revenue. “By giving our downtown visitors a chance to pay their parking tab electronically, we are giving them more opportunities to do the right thing,” Gergely said. “Many people use debit and credit cards for all of their daily transactions. They don’t keep cash and change in their pockets.”

The free MeterFeeder app offers locationbased parking, which can be paid for from mobile devices. Customers will enter license plate numbers and credit card information and the app is ready to be used. The app sends push notifications to customers to extend parking time for their expiring meter and sends notifications via email for payments. Customers can also opt to pay any parking citations issued by the McKeesport Police Department by scanning the unique QR code printed on the ticket through the MeterFeeder app on their smartphones. Tickets can also be paid online at www.meterfeeder.com/tickets.

As a technology first company, Meter Feeder, Inc. focuses on usability and efficiency and taking a new approach to solving the existing parking issues and presenting new ways to introduce smart parking solutions for cities and municipalities.

MeterFeeder Showcases New Multiple License Plate Recognition (MLPR) Technology at National League of Cities Conference in Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh, Pa. – On Wednesday, November 16th MeterFeeder will showcase their state-of-the-art Multiple License Plate Recognition (MLPR) technology at the National League of Cities Conference Booth #936, commencing downtown Pittsburgh at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center.  The conference is scheduled to run from Wednesday, November 16th to Saturday, November 19th with vendors presenting industry-based ideas and products that will innovate cities and municipalities. MeterFeeder will be one of the few companies who offer cloud-based parking solutions with a brand new MLPR system at the conference.

MeterFeeder’s CTO, Dan Lopretto is very satisfied with the results and wants to demonstrate this technology for visitors, city officials, parking officials, and other vendors at the conference. The MLPR system is housed in the mobile enforcement software and captures license plates from streaming video rather than manually entered text or static photos taken by an officer. The functionality uses the mobile device camera to capture license plates on cars parked on both sides of the street. Multiple plates are captured and listed for enforcement officers displaying payments or non-payments for ticketing. Within a few taps the officer can print a ticket and move on to the next vehicle.

MeterFeeder’s CEO, James Gibbs, will also present at the National League of Cities’ Solution Session: Working with Start Ups to Improve Core Services and Accelerate Smart Growth scheduled from 10 a.m. to 10.45 a.m. in Room 317 and 318. Taking lead on the discussion is Bradley Tusk, CEO of Tusk Ventures and will open the discussion for the panel with Mr. Gibbs offering insights on how start-up technology is offering to innovate parking for cities and municipalities.

The MLPR technology adds to MeterFeeder’s focus on usability and efficiency in parking, taking a new approach to solving existing parking issues and present innovative ways to introduce smart parking solutions. Visitors and officials are welcome to stop by MeterFeeder Booth #936 for a live demonstration or visit www.meterfeeder.com for more information.
