PassportParking® lands in Plymouth

Town adds the mobile parking app for convenience

Plymouth, Mass. (April 2, 2018) — Park Plymouth announces the launch of the PassportParking® mobile application that allows motorists to pay for their parking through their smartphones. The app is powered by the global leader of mobile payments for parking and transit, Passport, serving cities and universities throughout North America.

The PassportParking app makes paying for parking a cinch. Users can securely pay for parking within the comfort of their vehicle instead of standing in the cold at a meter. They can also monitor their parking sessions, receive alerts before their parking sessions expire with an option to extend their time, view payment history and receive email receipts. In addition to using the PassportParking app, drivers will have the option to use Boston’s ParkBoston app, also powered by Passport.

The PassportParking app will support the town’s growing residential and tourist population with access to 355 on-street parking spaces and 800 off-street spaces in the downtown and waterfront areas of Plymouth. Residents and guests will easily be able to recall the town’s zone number, 1620, for its historic reference to when the Mayflower arrived in Plymouth Harbor. Other zones will include 1621, 1622 and 1623. The rate for parking will be $1 per hour.

“This upgrade to PassportParking will allow guests to easily tour America’s hometown and enjoy their stay longer when they extend their parking sessions from their smartphones,” said Desmond Egan, Park Plymouth Manager.

“We’re excited about our new partnership with Park Plymouth,” said Alexandra Wells, Passport executive. “Plymouth hosts a lot of visitors in this historic town, so it is essential to have a reliable app that will give people an opportunity to explore the town at their leisure. Our app makes sightseeing on your time ultra convenient.”

Passport is the industry’s leading mobile technology solution specializing in enterprise business applications and payments for the public and private sectors. The company is the No. 1 provider in Massachusetts with more than 500,000 users in the Boston-area, with its popular app, ParkBoston. Motorists who had the previous mobile pay provider will need to download the PassportParking app to enjoy parking conveniences. The app is already available in Brookline, Cambridge, Salem, Haverhill, Newburyport, Newton, Lowell, Springfield, Provincetown, Pittsfield, Wellesley and Acton and will soon be available in Andover and Greenfield. The PassportParking app is free to download through the App Store or Google Play. Users can also manage their parking at ppprk.com.

Miami’s Top Mobile Parking Payment App Reaches a New Milestone

PayByPhone passes half a million transactions per month in the City

January 26, 2018, MIAMI, FL — The Miami Parking Authority’s (MPA’s) acclaimed mobile parking app, PayByPhone, has reached a new milestone by surpassing over half a million transactions in a single month. The December 2017 results confirm that the app started and ended the year on a high note, with 83% of drivers choosing to park with PayByPhone at on-street locations.

Since launching in 2008, the app has proven to be a powerful force in the City, achieving performance goals ahead of time and generating savings for the parking authority. This success has also resulted in the reduction of 50% of the MPA’s multi-space meters, and 99% of the single space meters – a move towards a future where no physical parking infrastructure is required.

This dedicated PayByPhone usage has allowed the City to hold their spot as the app’s largest client in the United States in terms of transaction volume, a feat that can be accredited to the service consistently being supported by the MPA. This includes offering City of Miami residents a 20% discount when they use PayByPhone to park, highlighting the app at community outreach events, and encouraging it as the preferred method of parking for upcoming events.

“I firmly believe that the extraordinary success of PayByPhone in Miami is, in part, the result of our strong belief in the shared value of partnership,” said Alejandra Argudin, Chief Operations Officer of Miami Parking Authority. “Over the course of almost ten years, our collaboration with PayByPhone has driven innovation and made a positive impact on our business and the community we serve.”
